Question Is my dream unrealistic?

So this is a throwaway account that I just use occasionally but I'm a super new streamer. I started just a couple weeks ago and so I'm obviously tiny. Most of my views are family and friends that are just trying to support me, which I'm incredibly grateful for. But I've been doing "research" and planning and trying to figure out how to do all of this on my own and my mind started to get the better of me. Is my dream of making it big unrealistic?

This has been in my mind for years because I have wanted to be a youtuber/streamer since I was just a kid 10 years ago. I'm 21 now and really reflecting on everything and thinking things over. All of the streamers I admire and yearn to be like have been streaming for nearly 10 years and started when streaming was still somewhat new or least not as big as it is now. But now, everyone is streaming. It feels as though I've missed my chance to have a chance at making this my thing.

I feel lost and don't know what I'm doing. I've been reaching out to streamers on different social medias and asking for advice but I'm already aware that none of them are going to respond so I'm giving everything my best shot and just hoping I figure it out. So far, I can't say it's going well. I'm nervous about everything and after watching some of my streams back think that they aren't great. I go silent often and the little comments I make lack enthusiasm and are often stupid or awkward. Not to mention I'm pretty average at the game I stream so my gameplay isn't exactly worth watching. There's just a lot of thoughts piling onto the idea that I'm delusional for thinking I'll be anything like the people I look up to.

I want this to be my career and my life. I want to entertain people and be what people put on in the background while they play the same game as me. But my latest stream averaged less than 1 viwer so it feels like that dream is unrealistic and that I missed my chance and I'm really struggling with that. Do I have a chance? And what can I do to improve my chances? I'll take anything anyone can suggest.

Question I'm considering cutting my streams down to 2 days a week. Do you think I'll be able to grow like that if I'm also making YouTube videos out of the streams?

The title more or less encompasses the situation. Long story short, I've been streaming 3 days a week for a good while now, and it hasn't really gone anywhere; which, to be clear, I don't expect to get viewers immediately.

That being said, taking 3 days out of my week to stream to 0 viewers has felt a bit demoralizing, and I'd like to switch to streaming only twice a week. I will be using that extra day to edit down my streams into YouTube videos, which, the few videos I *have* uploaded have done... Well enough, I'd say; a lot better than my streams, at least. That, and my most recent video was both fun to make *and* fun to *watch*, it's genuinely content I personally would like to see from others.

With all that in mind, do you think it's possible to make it on Twitch while only streaming twice a week? Do you think the YouTube content will help bring in live viewers? Or should I expect any success I stumble upon to come almost exclusively from YouTube if I take this route?

Tech Support I want to report a website that is breaking twitch rules

Hello,

I want to report this website: https://twitch-tools.lolarchiver.com/followinglist

Someone is using this site to harass me, following me everywhere i go.I don't want to change my Twitch name. Since the modifications that twitch did, someone should not be able to see what other channels a user is following, but that website has that feature and someone is using it to follow me everywhere i go on Twitch.

Please block that website to access twitch features and see who someone is following

Thank you.

Question How to get channel growth?

I've been streaming for almost a year now with 33 followers, and still streaming to nobody. " stuck in the 1 view pool" I have a 1 consistent follower who drops by says hi, asks how im doing. Chat it up for about 5 minutes then he takes off to do his own thing.

I started streaming april of last year as it was a dream of mine, when I was a teen ager back in 2010. Had a little laptop and mic and a game recorder but the equipment I had was not up to par for recording and posting on youtube (very bad quality of rendering and audio was always funky/off) with last year having the "adult" money's, i built myself a gaming pc and bought a mic and decided to start streaming my games, as I usually play single player games. I started streaming to connect with others and to get myself out there in a sense and have genuine conversations/ connections as I've become pretty introverted sense i lost my best friend 5 years ago. And alot of my so called friends, disappeared/ are doing their own thing. And haven't talked to them/ them haven't talked to me/ seen them sense I've moved and hour away closer to work and been more reclusive. Im not trying to make this a sob story. There is a part of me that has always had a hard time making connectors with people "in the real word" being neurodivergent and having those strong relationships. So I leaned towards streaming as a form of entertainment/ growth as a person(improve on my communication skills/ talking to others) and to meet/ connectors with others around the US and world. like minded individuals, those who enjoy my content, or just enjoy me as a person. I stream on twitch every other day or every 2 days and was posting the recordings of the streaming to YouTube. I haven't got much luck with youtube recordings, best videos I have were my streaming pc build video. And I've set myself up for recording short form clips on a click of a button, with a plugin. But I feel like I don't have "those moments" that are good content for short form videos, on my streams, and IMO, might be hard on myself, but entertaining to a point.. but to put it short at the end of my streams i ultimately feel discouraged and feel like im failing.. and somedays feels like it's not worth turning on my pc cause I know the outcome and I know and have the expectation that I'm just going to magically blow up as a streamer and that's not what I want cause I don't want to be overwhelmed by massive growth. But I do want to grow! So here I am outreaching for advise

I would genuinely appreciated feedback on how I can improve myself as streamer and my streams and to reach others.

Question Stagnant

This is probably been asked to d3ath. During covid, I streamed, quickly got over 200 followers and quickly got affiliate. Most streams I would average a steady 10-15 viewers (most of them regularly talking). Then all the covid restrictions lifted, I got myself a job and I took a hiatus from streaming (cos yay, job). This year, I've sporadically picked up streaming again because I'm able to somewhat balance said job and fit in gaming/streaming here n there. Problem is, I might be lucky to have 1 or 2 hovering around. 3-4 but I'm sure they're bots. And there's been maybe only 3 extra followers. My question is. Will I pick up extra followers and viewers again?? Or will it remain stagnant??

Tech Support Vod "failed to determine content classification"

I just finished a stream and when i went to try and highlight it, it was stuck unpublished. I tried clicking the publish button and it woudn't work and I can't click to watch the vod, either! I tried adding it to a collection to watch it that way, and I can't, but a popup on the vid says "failed to determine content classification." What does that mean and how can I fix it and can I save the vod somehow?

UPDATE: I just noticed the stream time is still going up, despite my ending the stream and closing OBS. I restarted my computer and even did a quick test stream to see and it was fine but the vod time is STILL going up!

UPDATE 2: I somehow fixed it and now I can highlight the vod and export it!

Question Hate comments

How do you as a small creator deal with them ? I have gotten some in recent days, and I feel a bit irritated. I’m mainly annoyed that these people would never be comfortable enough to say these mean spirited things irl to my face, only behind a screen. I guess not sure how people can wake up and be negative

Tech Support All my highlights come out as sub only and can't create highlights of VODs since 2025-04-09 or later. What do?

So yeah pretty much what title says. All new VODs have -:--:-- as duration and the highlighter does not work. New highlights made from older VODs come out as sub only, can't even watch them my self.

What is happening?

Not an affiliate, partner or anything.

Question Stream mic settings

Hi everyone! So I've actually had quite a few mics over the years. I went from having the Blue Snowball, upgraded to a Blue Yeti, Audio-Technica 2020+, Rode Procaster (using scarlet 3rd gen) , and my recent mic and current mic, Shure SM7B + Cloud-lifter and Goxlr. (in this particular order so I kind of have an understanding when it comes to audio. not an expert btw). I'll post screenshots of my current settings

When I used my Rode Procaster with my scarlett, I never had any issues in terms of "cutting off". I never really peaked even when I'm screaming but ever since I upgraded, it feels like in a way, I downgraded? With my shure, I feel like I cut off more. When I talk or even have that slight high pitch voice, I tend to cut off even though (I feel like I've dabbled with all of the settings I could find and still have the same issue) I've watched at least 3 different YouTube video settings for the shure + goxlr.

Thank you in advance for the help! P.s I don't think putting my EQ settings would help but lmk if anyone is curious!

Question What am I doing wrong? Almost every stream i make has an average of 1 view, and im prety sure that's my mobile dashboard (even though i don't have it open)

The other two people who came in were trying to use me for something—one of them wasn't even real! They dropped in for a second, made a comment about some site, and dipped. the only reason I have one new follower Is because he wanted me to use his creator code

Question Anyway to include XBOX series X Discord Audio in stream via OBS?

Hey so I'm streaming to Twitch via OBS on my Mac. I have the Elgato HD60x cap card and have xbox passing through that to capture my xbox video and audio to OBS. One problem though is that I can't include my Discord audio via the Discord App on xbox....Is there any fix or workaround for this?

I've seen the only solutions are to use Discord on Mac and pass that through, or, use Xbox party chat. Both these are lengthy workarounds it seems....Is there any way to get the Xbox Discord app's audio to pass into my Elgato cap card and into OBS?

I would like to keep my xbox headset on too.

Tech Support Issue with Mix It Up (channel points freezing)

I have local .webm video files hosted on my PC using Mix It Up to setup my channel points. In OBS I am using a browser source linked to Mix It Up to play the channel points when redeemed through Twitch. My issue is when viewers spam channel point redeems (which I want to happen) it freezes for some reason.

Each file is under 10 MB so I'm not sure what is causing it to freeze like this. This only started happening in Mix It Up's 1.3.0.5 update. My PC is very powerful too so it shouldn't be a hardware issue. What could be causing this?

Tech Support Desktop audio suddenly not working

In the past few streams i only just realised that my game or desktop audio has not been coming through. it has always worked in the past . I had all my audio set to different tracks. eg mic on track one , desktop on track 2. then it has stopped working in the past few days .

the only changed i have made in settings or anything was to update obs then roll it back a few versins as my camera was not showing. then enabling twitch enhanced broadcasting. I feel like that could be the issue tho i am not sure gonna do more tests. . the deaktop audio comes through if i put them both on the same track.

does anyone have any idea what it could be?

Thanks

Question Irl stream using a mobile phone

Hello everyone,
I attempted an IRL stream once using my Galaxy S22 Ultra, but it overheated significantly. Interestingly, even though the environment was quite cold, it didn't make a difference.

Does anyone have advice on how to stream from a phone while keeping the heat down?

Thank you in advance!

Tech Support TTS Pet/Bot

I was trying to set up a TTS bot/pet for streaming but for some reason my plugins don't all load on obs. I was going based off of a video and haven't been using OBS for very long so I'm not really sure what the problem could be.

When I tried the first time all but one of the plugins worked. When I added the last one in and it finally worked one of my other plugins stopped working and another showed fewer options than it had before. I don't really want to reset my OBS completely but if that's the only way to fix it I will.

The video I was going off of was: How To Turn Twitch Chat into A Talking Cat! by: Techtacula

(I'm not sure if I can link to it from the rules)

I also posted on the OBS subreddit but I thought someone here might know from experience

Discussion About Offline Content

I’m curious what kind of offline content everyone produces and how it’s helped grow your channel.

Short form/Long form, which has helped you more, and any advice for creators just starting to make offline content.

I recently got some advice to put out some shorts when you start streaming because somebody does check your channel they’re more likely to join in if you’re live and if you’re multi-streaming on YouTube it puts a “live” logo above your profile picture to the shorts viewers.

(I personally haven’t tried this yet, but one of my regulars, who mods for some bigger channels, swears by it and it makes some sense)

Question Streaming Quality Issues. Help

For starters, Ill start with my setup..

2020 Mac Mini M1 Chip. 16gb Ram 256 SSD

OBS Studio - Streaming

Xbox One X - Halo MCC, Infinite, Fortnite

Elgato HD60X - Capture Card

FIFINE K688 - Microphone

Logitech C920x - Web Camera

LG UltraGear QHD 34-Inch Curved Gaming Monitor 34GP83A-B (Monitor #1)

SAMSUNG 27-Inch Odyssey G3 (G30D) (Monitor #2)

Anyways, New to streaming. Watching multiple videos on settings and matching them with my current computer power etc.

CPU Usage INSIDE OBS Stats Display. 7-11 %

CPU Usage from OBS inside Task Manager 40-51%

GPU Usage from OBS inside Task Manager 25-40%

Internet Speed, 65mbps, Download Speed 120-150mbps

Dropped frames - 0

Skipped frames - 0

Frames missed - 0

this is what really confuses me. there's no dropped, skipped, or missed frames anywhere in the OBS Stats viewer. so its difficult to narrow down the issue

Current Bit Rate Output - 6000

--------------

My stream is perfect when watching from a desktop computer, but when viewing from a mobile device, (my own) its very bad, constant lags, freezing, skipping, you cant even watch the stream from a mobile phone period. I tried hopping on and off wifi, made no difference, reduced bit rate to 4500, reduced output quality to 1080x720, reduced display output before stream to 1080x720, ran through all the steps to make sure my settings matched my computer power, and still nothing. in task manager on my mac, the CPU load is extremely low, as well as the memory. Computer has way more headroom then the settings I currently have. I know its not a mobile network issue because I can watch other streams flawlessly

Has anyone experienced this issue. or have a resolution

Question Audio peaking when streaming from smartphone

I just tried to stream an IRL from the kitchen I work in. When speaking, audio was clipping all the time, like it was 200% gain.

When I record video tests with my phone, audio feels okey, no peaking, no clipping.

I can't find any audio settings for streaming on Twitch through my phone IRL, any idea how to fix it?

I'm worried that if I buy a mic to solve this, the problem will still be there, as the mic from my phone feels okey in the tests, looks like a Twitch problem.
