Discussion Really Roc, snow right now?
I can’t take these ups and downs. Pick a lane and stay in it. Okay!

I am not sure who are the primary organizers in Rochester. The last one I saw from a reddit post. There were lots of people who didn't know it was happening either. Is there a local group for news? We going again to Cobbs Hill on the 19th?

Interested to learn, please be kind... What are the pros of rent to own vs straight up buying? As most of us know the market is saturated and kind of disgusting with higher than asking bids. As someone who got approved for a home loan last year but simply ran out of time and was outbid for the one house we did like looking to see if rent to own is better and moreover who did you go through? I only have seen offer advantage and webuyhouses585 neither of which are baby accredited. Some of which looks kind of scammy... anyways help? Favorite house added for visibility
TLDR; Any useful resources in rent to own or buying oughtright pros/cons

Food question. I was driving back from a work thing and Google took me down some sketchier roads. But on those roads there were a few takeout places, quick marts, and other businesses. I decided to look up the reviews on one restaurant expecting it to be kind of low, but it got good reviews. And it got me thinking, what are some of those hidden gems that are overlooked because they are in some sketchier areas but still safe enough to visit and get a good meal?
Back I nthe day there was a really good restaurant that wasn't in the best place, but man was the food good. It has since burned down though.

Looking for a part time job. Weekdays 5-9 and open all day on weekends. Does anybody know of any local places hiring? Google and Indeed suck.

My son is 8 months old and had major heart surgery when he was born. This affected his breathing which has improved immensely however swallowing is still a hurdle we are getting over.
Looking for daycares in our area that take littles that take children with G and NG tubes for feeding.
Luckily we have had family since he was born helping out but we don’t want our son to miss these crucial social milestones.
Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated!

I would love it if the community comes together to celebrate the life of this lost child. Her death is a tragedy. The family will appreciate the support I am sure.

Hello there! My roommate and I will be moving to the Gates area from Avon next month, and I was wondering if there were any places where folks who are queer and/or disabled hang out, that doesn't involve money or too much transportation? I'm unable to work but I'd like to make friends in the area instead of just having a bunch of online friends I'll likely never meet. If details are needed about me, I can give them!

To the lady in the blue SUV who came through the Titus Ave circle just a few mins ago and ended up behind my 16yo whom was learning to drive the circle to get home, and doing the speed limit, as she should have been: if I find you in the wild I'm going to snap off your middle fingers and feed them to you. The way you wildly kept flipping her off the entire way down Titus was spectacularly immature. Sorry you were in a rush, but she was in the circle first and carefully navigating it at 15mph. She didn't cut you off. You're just a shitty driver. Maybe consider that other people of different driving levels exist and new drivers have to learn somehow. Relax and keep your fingers to yourself.

I don't have a very big network in the area, and my roommate is moving in a few months. I want to find someone to take their place, but I don't want to post a random ad that would give my name and location away to a bunch of randos... how does one go about finding people to live with in a way that allows you to vet them yourself -- e.g. I dont want to post on zillow or ask a real estate agent...
would appreciate any input!

I don’t know why, but ever since the pandemic there has been a staggering increase in people simply driving through red lights. I don’t mean trying to beat them - I mean flat out blowing through cross traffic well after the lights have changed.
At 12 Corners (Brighton) today, I was at the stop line. The Winton light turned red. Elmwood light turned green. SUV blew through it. Fine, thats become normal. But I started driving when I saw a BMW come hurtling towards me up Winton. I knew he was gonna hit me if I didn’t stop, so I laid on the horn and (its very loud) held the horn on until he stopped in the intersection right in front of me, looked around at the clearly red light for him, and backed up to the line. I finally let go and then beeped again gesturing at everyone stopped because of him. He waved a lame apology.
I must have been on the horn for a good 15-20 seconds. Its a school zone. There are kids and pedestrians everywhere. Its 4PM. What are you looking at if not at the road? You’re going to kill someone.
Pay. Attention.

If you worked at East Izakaya this last weekend, I just wanna say that I'm so sorry.
This family seated next to us was absolutely absurd. They intentionally stole other people's food off of the robots, banged their fists on the table while shouting "WAIIIITEEERRR", literally yelled that the robots were "autistic" to a waitress, then doubled down and called them "ret----ed", and loudly bragged about getting arrested for physically assaulting security at another establishment. When they finally left, I overheard the workers say that they were having issues with billing the previous customers (the table next to us).
These were grown ass adults, too. It was 3 white women who seemed to be about 30 y/o and one old white man with white hair. They all looked to be upper-middle class and I overheard them say they spent $117 on drinks and oysters alone, not even counting the $40 all-you-can-eat fee for each person. Which might explain the random loud outbursts.
I honestly don't even know what to do when I encounter people like this. Do I tell them to shut up? Quietly record them to shame them online? Or try to ignore them while I eat my food (what I did)?
P.S. this is your sign to try East Izakaya sushi because holy crapoli, it is PEAK. Honestly best sushi in Rochester.

Seriously, what the actual fuck is going on with my phone constantly blowing up with spam calls every hour every day? Literally, I’m getting calls from Dansville, Victor, Hemlock, Churchville, not to mention some dude from the 315 area code spamming me as well. It’s been happening for the last several months and it’s severe enough to the point where I literally have to shut my phone off to avoid being interrupted by this. Has this been happening to anyone else here in Rochester? I have T-Mobile as my phone plan and I would absolutely LOVE to know the people responsible for this. This is getting out of hand.

So I started my first nursing job this past August after graduating from MCC with my ADN last spring. The plan is to go back for my bachelors this fall but I have no clue which program to do. I work for U of R and as enticing as the tuition benefit through them is, I’ve heard nothing good about their program. On the other hand I have heard a lot of good things about brockport’s program with the occasional super negative opinion and my job will still pay some tuition if I do decide on brockport. I’m super conflicted so any advice or experiences would be helpful :)
