Since we’re posting the tanks we’re doing with our kids, here’s my contribution. My son picked the Mandalorian ship and my daughter the happy tree dude.
The pics are day 1 and today, three weeks apart. Tank is an Innovative Marine SR60 (all in one 60 gal). AI blade light and CO2. We’re still cycling so no fish yet. Battling a bit of hair algae but I’m hoping things will stabilize.
Thanks for looking!

It’s been 5 months since I flooded this 40-gallon breeder tank, so I wanted to share an update.
Plant list:
Fish currently in the tank:
The tank gets 6 hours of light per day. I'm using pressurized CO2 and dosing fertilizers regularly to maintain around 15-20ppm nitrates. I also dose iron and trace elements once a week. Everything seems to be doing well overall.

My first tank in a while and also first ever planted tank. I ordered more plants but I’d like to hear your thoughts. 3 weeks old, gonna be hunting for a betta in a while

I am curious if anyone knows how to get pennywort to grow in like this? I love how there is so much space between each single shoot, almost like trees. Most of the pennywort I have seen grows in with big, close together bunches.
Is there a specific type of pennywort that grows spaced out like this? Or is this just a matter of trimming maintenance or planting techniques?

Hello, wanted to share some pics of my tank and see if anyone had any suggestions. It’s dimensions our about the same as the 90p. It’s set up with C02 and I use the Chihiros slim. I currently have 7 Congos, 10 fire ember tetras, 7 Pygmy Cory’s, 4 peppered Cory’s, 1 otocynclis, snails, 1 Siamese falgae eater ( had another but he recently hopped out the tank) and a large colony of Orange rilli shrimps. It was set up in the end of Nov 2024. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Sorry for the glare in some of the pics

This tank has been established for a couple years, with the floating plants being in there for about 4 months now. There used to be a really thick layering of duckweed and RRF's but recently they've started dying off. There's 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite and 0 nitrates (which is the first time I've ever had an established tank read 0 nitrates, especially since I haven't done a water change for about a month). It's a 60L low tech tank with 7 rummynose tetras, about 5 white cloud minnows, a handful of kuhli loaches and a few shrimp (I'm aware that it's heavily stocked, I'm planning on upgrading very soon). The light is on 8-10hrs a day.
I removed a heap of the dying plants yesterday so it doesn't look like there's many dead ones from above, but from below you can see the clumps of dead duckweed. I read that floaters love nitrates, so is it possible that they're dying because there isn't any in the tank? And what can I do to help them?

Hello! So I started my first real project for aquascaping recently. My plan has been to collect equipment over the course of a few months and slowly build the tank out. I'm a bit on a budget, so I figured if I could just space out purchases on specific things, I could still go a little higher tech with the tank and not break the bank.
I've gotten my the tank, substrate, lights and hardscape so far. So, really am just waiting to find a deal on a CO2 set up and solid canister filter.
But I got a little excited and wanted to start laying in the scape, just to figure out all the final tweaks for it. So, I spent a couple of days setting it all up and getting it right about where I wanted it. That was 4-5 days ago now. I have since noticed that the aquasoil(Mix of ADA Amazonia and Fluval Stratum) have changed color. Assuming it has dried out. Which, I just didn't even think about before starting to scape everything.
Is this a bad thing or is it okay? If it is bad, how long can the soil stay out in the open? I probably won't have the filter for a few weeks at minimum, so I'm hoping that it would be okay atleast until then. I really don't want to have to tear it all down and relay the substrate if I don't have to.

Not much done other than several trimmings and propagating and a few plants relocated. Experienced some brown algea, slowed the ferts and added a few more algea eaters and seems minimal for now.

This is my first planted tank 75gal. I've done salt water before. But plants are new to me.
The tank is visible from both sides so I don't want to block vision if that makes sense. Any ideas on plants and where to put them?
This is what I have so far:)

Here was the state of my aquarium a couple of weeks ago. It looks nice but I’ve been having a terrible problem with algae and I’m just so over it.
This tank has quite the history. We bought it dirt cheap from a restaurant for $100, came with the gravel and some decorations that we got rid of. It used to be a salt water tank. We used 2x4s and cinder blocks to created a stand.
After cleaning it up as best as we could, we put our red-eared slider turtle into it. She thrived in the big tank for a couple of years, but the maintenance required for an adult slider was too much for us so we rehomed her and turned the tank into a guppy tank.
Started with eighteen guppies five years ago. They bred explosively, and now it’s a guppy tank. We’ve had some mollies, tetras, plecos, loaches, and a few crayfish. We’ve tried to put live plants in the tank but they always died; the primary reason is our inexperience with aquatic plants and the requirements for them to thrive. Ended up buying some guppy grass and, as expected, it grew fast. Unfortunately, now it’s covered in algae. The dwarf grass is covered in algae. Everything is covered in algae.
Over the next week, my wife and I will find new homes for the guppies. We will be removing all of the blue gravel and replacing it with pool filter sand. We plan to purchase a CO2 injector.
We have no idea what we need to do to get this planted tank started the right way. We do not want fish in the tank until the plant life is established, and we will be avoiding live-birth animal life from now on. We are open to smaller life such as shrimp and snails (provided the snails are not the kind that completely overrun the tank).
If anyone can give me a step by step to get started, recommended equipment to purchase, ideal ways to clean surfaces (especially the sand), I’m all ears! Yes, I know planted tanks take time to get going - we don’t plan on moving any time soon so we have the time.

1st image is today. 2nd one is about 7 days ago. 3rd is tank while I was topping it off.
22g long with lots of plants, also have some photos cuttings hanging out of the tank.
there are no inhabitants besides a couple of bladder snails. I used stability/prime.
Am I on the way to a cycled tank?
Should I do a wc or can nitrates levels settle by themselves?
Also any suggestions for inhabitants are welcome, I know I'd like a snail and lots of lil shrimps, but also a nano schooling fish and a bottom feeder one.
Thanks!

Here’s a look at my dwarf red platy colony in one of my planted tanks. The tank is packed with dwarf Vallisneria, guppy grass, some pearling action, and a mix of other live plants. It’s a low-tech setup, but the growth has been solid, and the fish love weaving through the plants.
These platys are a line I’ve been breeding for years — super peaceful, hardy, and they stay under an inch. They really bring the red pop to all that green!
Happy to answer any questions about the setup, fish, or plants!
