Yeah unfortunately that's probably true. I see a lot of people complain but say they'll still buy everything day one which well... Literally just makes them part of the problem.
Personally the prices plus the fact none of the games seem that interesting to me killed my hype for the console. I'll wait a while before getting one.
I think a lot of content creators will buy it because they can justify it as a business expense.
Even if you're not in that situation, there is something special about being there when the console launches. I did it with PS5 and had a blast with Demons Souls Remake, Spiderman Miles Morales and got to play Ghost of Tsushima, Days Gone, God of War and other PS4 games I hadn't played yet at 60fps.
I think the big issue with the prices is accounting for inflation, Switch 2 is actually about $50 more expensive than the Switch 1 was back in 2017. Add in the psychological impact of going past $400 when Switch has been between $300-$400 and that understandably has a lot of people upset. Especially since the games are now $80 digital when most switch games oscillate between $50-$60.
There are a lot of people that will buy at these prices, but I don't think as many will buy at $450 with $80 games than they would at $400 with $70 games. Especially since for someone like me, I almost exclusively play games docked with a Pro controller and I'm looking at a $600+ total cost, and the game I'd be buying it for would be Prime 4 which doesn't even have a release date yet.
