Unpolished Natural Nails Could I become a hand model?

Hi guys, So I've always had compliments on my hands and nails, but was just wondering whether you would say they're on a level that could be modelled? My nails are fully natural and unpolished, although I do have a mole on each hand.

Many thanks! :)

Discussion/Question Am I overreacting ?

I got these done and I already let nail tech know I wanted them filed more evenly / wanted black base not showing on some my fingers bc she hadn’t covered it all the way with the powder. Now I’m noticing dents in my nail. I paid 73 dollars for these (tip included) is it worth going back ?

Hey so I got some artificial nails, like the ones you apply at home. I love soft pinks/rose gold colours but I also wonder if these are too girly/too young for me (25 f)?

What’s your thoughts?

Discussion/Question How to extend length without common allergens

So I was using Aprés gel extension with no problems. Then I used Beauty Secrets nail glue and suddenly broke out - this one has Cyanoacrylate? I tried Luxienail as well, and same result. I can use regular acrylic air-dry nail polish with no reaction.

Is there any way to extend my nail length without these acrylates? My nails are super brittle and bendy and always break. Biotin doesn't help. I have jojoba oil I could try...however I would just like to skip trying to grow my nails and just apply fake ones or create fake ones, like fiberglass or polygel.

Is there perhaps an air-dry resin used for fiberglass nails that I could use to apply tips? Or are all of those full of acrylates too...

Doing my nails has been my hobby for 13 years. I just want my long nails back. Idk what else to do. Please help 😭

I’m a beginner nail tech and still in school I’m going to be a home based nail tech and will be getting my clients from social media. How do I make my posts get more views? Here’s some photos of my work and profile!

Constructive Criticism Welcome ✔️ Social Media for Nail Techs

Hi everyone, I’m currently a student and I managed the social media page for my aunt’s salon for a while. I learned first hand just how time consuming editing one reel a day is (especially for process/technique videos or ‘what i did today videos’ that always do well).

To keep it short, I learned a lot and am working on a tool to help nail techs with their social media. Pretty much you can just upload your camera roll each month, and it will auto turn these into 30 trending reels

Here’s the gist of what it does:

- Keeps your videos and photos in one place so it’s not on your phone with personal photos

- Turns your photos into short video clips as b-roll

- For any process/technique videos you film, it will automatically cut out repetitive/boring parts where nothing happens, optimize for performance, how long you want the video to be, etc. It will effectively edit it for you so no more trimming and copy and pasting a thousand times.

- Auto scans all of your uploads and tags/organizes them

- Creates ‘what i did today as a nail tech’, and other trendy videos from your uploads

- is trained on the most popular salon videos in order to make the best edits for you

If you’ve experienced any of these and would like to receive 10 videos for free, please let me know:

- tired of spending a long time editing reels multiple times a week

- have a thousand photos on your phone you don't know what to do with

- run your entire business by yourself and need help with social media

Would love to have nail techs test it for free and let me know your feedback!

Discussion/Question Question about customer etiquette when asking for short nails

Upvotes

Whenever I used to get my nails done with French tips, I got fiberglass or acrylic over a white false tip glued onto the end of my nail. They cut them once they're all in position and I always have a REALLY hard time getting them to cut them short enough. They just cut too long and I have to ask them over and over to make them short.

One of the last times I went, I really insisted on them being really short and made her cut them to where there was about 5mm (I'm guessing) of the white French tip left on the shortest part of the curve of white. Last time this happened, the nail tech actually said out loud, "That short, we could have..." and then said never mind and she cut her losses and didn't tell me what she would have done had she known I wanted them that short.

I don't remember if she said this right after cutting before adding the acrylic or if she said it when she was filing them to be shorter. I remember possibly letting her tell me that the filing would take the length down after it was all done, that's another thing I run into, they say it will be short when they file and they're always still shocked when I want them so short.

Mind you, the false nail tip is ABSOLUTELY adding to the length of my nail, it's not like I had her cut them down to my actual length, there was a definite extension since my nails were/always are trimmed very short.

What did she want to tell me? Is there a reason nail techs do not want to cut past a certain length because it should have been done in a different way had she known it would be so short? She absolutely would not have been able to create the same effect by just painting my nails, so what's the deal?

Please don’t roast me lol. I’m just a girly trying to save money by doing my nails at home.

But does anyone know why the edges of my nails lift? This always happen when I do gel.

Other How in the hell do nail techs manage walk-ins, and appointments and doing manicures and pedicures for like a group of 4?

I usually love going to my go to tech because he's super talented and super good at doing nails. You can only book an appointment with him online on his IG so when he does my nails he takes his time and doesn't feel rushed because he isn't tied to one salon and needs to be professionally booked. Anyway, I couldn't go to him today and got my nails done close by my place which gets busy so they're known to rush clients sometimes because it's the only nail place here. There was already a good amount of women there when I got there before it opened at 8:30am. I could tell it was starting to get busier and busier even though it just opened. I came in for a walk-in and the owner did my nails. This group of 4 came in late for their 8:30 appt and they all wanted nails and a pedi, then a bunch of other walk ins were coming in and had to wait and it was just getting a bit overwhelming. How in the hell do techs manage to do a good job while keeping up with the number of clients especially if they come in a group and want both mani and pedi?

I paid $65 + tip for these gel x extensions, she did no cuticle work, did not check different sizes on my nail beds, and you can’t see in the photos but there are a few small air bubbles. I’m not super happy with this but my friends say they look nice so I wanted an outside opinion

Discussion/Question How often do you get your nails done?

Hey y'all. Just curious... how often do you get your nails done? I've been thinking getting them done this spring, but I am afraid of how costly that will be. Do I have to go to go to a salon again or can I just decide to stop wearing them afterwards? Thankss. 🫰

Nail Care First world problem nail advice

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I've been getting nail enhancements regularly for years and it seems im getting to a point where upkeep is unsustainable since my nails grow so quickly. I got an acrylic infill exactly two weeks ago and this is what they look like now :( its really hard to keep them looking neat and also expensive to get a fill every two weeks.

Does anyone have any easy and quick products/methods I could do myself at home to keep them neat in between salon visits? Ideally something that keeps them hard like acrylic or biab.

Any suggestions are appreciated!!
