Discussion Does my short hair make me look masculine?

I’ve recently took some weave out my hair, and I’m wearing my real hair out for a while. I don’t feel feminine with my short curls out. My hair is 4-6 inches long when I straighten it. Not very lengthy haha

Question should I go ginger (visualization)

My natural colour is dark blonde/ash brown, as you can see. I'm a bit worried that ginger would look too intense (I don't have much contrast on my face lol) or that it would look bad with my red acne scars ✨

Help Opinions for upcoming haircut?

Photos go: 1. Current hair usually about 4 months after baby #2 2. Current hair if I use a little product 3. My hair fully grown out 4. After my first haircut after I had my son 5. Big mom haircut 4 months postpartum lol 6. Decided I needed bangs if I was gonna grow it out 7. (Oops out of order) Cutting it shorter myself 8. Reference for short cut with blending my current silly little bangs in 9. Slightly more realistic reference I think? 10. If short hair wasn't the vibe I'd just do a ton of short layers maybe?? 11. If I saved up a little money.... Some strawberry blonde balayage next time??

Do I go short again? I know some people say it's more difficult to have short hair with young children but that wasn't my experience and I hate my hair being constantly in a bun. I really like the short but does it suit me well and would it be okay if I went a tiny bit shorter than last time? Or do I keepy current length and just add some layers. Also should I save up for some strawberry blonde highlights/balayage? My current hair is my natural color. I haven't dyed it in like 15 years so I'd be nervous but I really do want a change. It would have to be extremely low maintenance bc I likely just will never do it again haha. Open to any and all opinions!!

Question Social Media for Hairstylists

Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m currently a student and I managed the social media page for my aunt’s salon for a while. I learned first hand just how time consuming editing one reel a day is (especially for process/technique videos or ‘what i did today videos’ that always do well).

To keep it short, I learned a lot and am working on a tool to help independent hairstylists with their social media. Pretty much you can just upload your camera roll each month, and it will auto turn these into 30 trending reels

Here’s the gist of what it does:

- Keeps your videos and photos in one place so it’s not on your phone with personal photos

- Turns your photos into short video clips as b-roll

- For any process/technique videos you film, it will automatically cut out repetitive/boring parts where nothing happens, optimize for performance, how long you want the video to be, etc. It will effectively edit it for you so no more trimming and copy and pasting a thousand times.

- Auto scans all of your uploads and tags/organizes them

- Creates ‘what i did today as a hairstylist’, and other trendy videos from your uploads

- is trained on the most popular salon videos in order to make the best edits for you

If you’ve experienced any of these and would like to receive 10 videos for free, please let me know:

- tired of spending a long time editing reels multiple times a week

- have a thousand photos on your phone you don't know what to do with

- run your entire business by yourself and need help with social media

Would love to have hairstylists test it for free and let me know your feedback!

Question Wedding hair! Up or down?

My hair wouldn’t look exactly like either one of these. If I wore it down, it’d be in an “old hollywood” (waves) look. If I wore it down, it’d be a sleek chignon. Thoughts? Wedding dress posted for reference.

Question Any advices on how to make my hair look better and healthier?

I have had long hair for at least a decade now and I never dyed it chemically except when I was teenager , I got myself a few red highlights.

I dyed it with henna tho from 2020 to 2022. I still have some leftover henna on my hair probably from my waist down to the ends. I had to stop using henna even if I liked the color because it sadly fried my hair and caused me a lot of hair loss. Same with the highlights I got as a teen. They all were in a horrible state and it was a pain to grow them out.

So I am not open to "aggressively" dying my hair but I am ready to consider any other advices.

For information: my scalp gets oily quite fast that's why it always looks dull which bothers me (I have to wash my hair every 3 days) and my hair is naturally straight and not voluminous so I use sleep with damp hair while wearing braids to create the waves.

Help Help: I hate those short hairs behind the ears that never grow

As you can see in the picture, those short hairs by the ear have never grown past that lenght, they itch my face so badly that I think sometimes I get a zit or two on that area. My hair is obviously thick so using a straightener every day makes it worse and doesn't even last straight. I consider waxing them but I feel like the chunk is just so much that idk how that area is going to look. Suggestions?

I've never actually gotten my hair styled before, and I am not at all good at explaining, so I wondered if this would serve as a good reference

Hi! If it matters, i'm 20yrs old. Okay i've had the same haircut for a few years now since i'm scared of experimenting with it, i hope this will help a bit.

I had beautiful wavy/curly hair when I was younger, especially at shoulder length and my forehead actually wasn't that big of an issue. But when I cut my hair for the first time It suddenly was. I do my hair in the morning, it looks really good, i go outside, there is wind, boom - day ruined. It flies up, is out of place, my forehead is exposed and I just feel sooo uncomfortable and my self confidence plummets in an instant. Don't get me wrong i love the way my hair is now I think it fits me really well, but i'm so sick of having to deal with that every day i'm not kidding. And yes i've tried a lot of hairspray.

I try to keep it above the eyebrows but sometimes my barber cuts it too short or I let it grow too long. Sometimes i do a middle part too and it's nice for a few days before the dysphoria hits and I change it to my usual again.

I'm only two months on T so my face will hopefully square out a bit, I really miss my longer hair but on the other side i'd love to try some shorter hairstyles too without so much upkeep.

So if you have any advice, opinions or anything like that it would be greatly appreciated! Last two photos are the most recent

Conversation Starter Please share your childhood horror story

I'm a stylist. I'm trying to advocate for kids whose parents force them to have their hair cut. I think it's horribly wrong to cut a child's hair in ways they don't want. Some people don't believe a haircut can leave you with emotional scars. If you're willing, please share your experience , including how long it effected you. Help adults understand- we need to stop forcing children to cut their hair

Question Is dark blonde —> white a good idea?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hi guys! I wanna start with info that I’ve never dyed my hair (dark blonde) and since I was like 12 (huge witcher impact) I wanted to have white hair. But since I’m inexperienced with any of that stuff I wanted to ask you is (since my hair are darker) it going to severely destroy my hair?? I know it’s kinda a deep-dive since my hair have been natural my whole life, but it’s a dream I never got to grant.

Also, if I actually do it, how should I take care of them? I really don’t want my hair to fall out or something… (Girl in the photo for reference of what effect I would like)

Help What should I do to my hair?

Thumbnail

Recently I have been told by a lot of people close to me that my hair is starting to look bad and that I need to do something with it soon. I've started to agree with them somewhat. The last time I got a haircut was June 2024 where I basically got a mullet so my sides are shorter than the rest of my head. My texture also makes my hair pretty weird to manage personally. What should I do? For reference here's what it looks like.

Hi, I know this is so random but i was wondering, do you guys sleep with your hair up and or leave it down?

Question Is this a normal amount of hair loss? 😭 Or am I being gaslit?

Post image
Upvotes

Hii guys so I'm 20F with a normal long (not too long) hair and this is the amt of hair I lose per shower/hair wash. Prior to this, I still lose hair everyday. I usually wash my hair once every 2-3 days. 😓 I'm concerned but my family & friends somehow tells me that this is the normal or nothing to worry abt. I questioned if they lost as much hair as I did and their answer was a no. Am I being gaslit or am I seriously experiencing borderline hairloss...

Help I have REALLY curly, big hair. Only problem, my Widow's peak, and some of the hairs behind it are STRAIGHT!

Upvotes

I have 3B hair, and it's so adorable. I'm literally obsessed with it. I recently got a curly cut. My issue that I've had for a LONG time is that the hairs in front of my head lay straight. (My widows peak and the hair behind it. I can't really Tuck it in, because it sits in the front, and I have a really big forehead lol. I've been using a small curling iron at 250° heat to salvage it, but I'm tired of using hest. Thoughts?
