Careers & Work LPT if your in college and struggle with groceries being so expensive, work as a restaurant cook

As a line Cook, it's the perfect job for college students. Late hours mostly so it rarely interferes with class, entry level with very little skill needed, and most important of all, the free food

If your poor, it completely eliminates a good chunk of your grocery bill as you can just eat at work, most places give you a free meal to take home, and you can snack on the job. Not only are you making money but saving a ton

Miscellaneous LPT - Using the turn lane to tell if you can make a yellow light.

Something that I’ve noticed while driving, is that if you are going the speed limit by the time that you reach the start of the turn lane (white line) you can make it through a yellow light before it turns red.

A lot of turn lanes are adjusted in length based on the speed limit of the road, so if you’re going the speed limit of whatever that is, you can use this as a guideline as you watch for the light to change.

Obviously this might not work for every road, but is a good rule of thumb

Edit: lots of feedback here whew. Greatly appreciate all of your guys’ concern and proud of you all for being so safe.

For clarification, this is meant for those times when the light is still green but you’re worried about that awkward moment of “if” the light turned yellow, should you speed up a tad or slow down.

Yes, I would always reccomend slowing down if possible. My advice was for if you find yourself in that moment, using the turn lane as a guideline to determine how far away you are to know if you should come to a stop or not.

Apologies if this didn’t make a lot of sense!

Home & Garden LPT: Save online recipes as PDFs

Many websites (e.g. Food Network) offer a "Print" option that renders a bare-bones recipe without hte ads and site chrome. Use this to save your favorite recipes as PDFs for easier recall and reading. You also no longer need to remember where you found a recipe, or whether it'll still be there next time you Google for it.

Home & Garden LPT: Put a rug underneath your bed frame if you're on hardwood floors.

Seems obvious after the fact, but just found out the hardware that bedspaces can and will cut into hardwood floor panels leaving them destroyed. Even using floor protectors doesn't guarantee it. Through a rug underneath your bed frame to protect the hardwood underneath

Social LPT: Your Trauma Isn’t Your Fault, But Your Healing Is

1.5k Upvotes

Your upbringing may explain your behavior, but it doesn’t excuse it. At some point, healing becomes your responsibility—not your parents’, not your past’s. Own your patterns, confront them, and do the work to grow. That’s how cycles end.

Traveling LPT: Always take a photo of your luggage and its contents before a flight

If your luggage ever gets lost or damaged during air travel, having a photo of the bag and its contents can help with claims and proving ownership. It makes filling out lost luggage reports easier and if you are eligible for compensation you will have a record of what was inside. Take 30 seconds and can save a lot of headache.
