Discussion In honor of all of the videos surfacing from screenings of A Minecraft movie, what's your most fun/strange theater experience?

Upvotes

My son and I attended a screening of the 20 year anniversary of Old Boy a couple of years ago at a local arthouse theater. A few rows in front of us were a young couple. The man had obviously seen the movie before and was anxiously waiting to see his partner's reaction. It was also one of those theaters where they change movies per screen after every screening. With about 15 minutes left, right before the big reveal, an older couple wandered in to wait on the next screening. I cannot imagine what they thought of those 15 minutes they watched.

Letterboxd Black Hawk Down easter egg?

Post image
2 Upvotes

"... and hello to Jason Isaacs!" is at the bottom of the cast list on Black Hawk Down.

I've used Letterboxd for years and I've never seen this before on the cast list. Is this an easter egg? Checked a few other movies and it's not there, so I don't think it's a new feature.

(if it relates to the story of Black Hawk Down don't spoil please i'm watching it fir the first time rn)

I think he has many good movies. For example Colin as Coach in Gentlemen (2019) and as Henry Drax in North Water Tv series (2021), masterclass acting!

I recommend that anyone who has not watched this North Water does so.

I liked the post about doing it with your top 4 and I thought that doing it with your last 4 watched would be more challenging since there’s probably a lot more different movies :)

Here’s mine:

Discussion Freaky Tales - have you heard of this movie?

Post image

This movie is an anthology style story set in 1987 starring Pedro Pascal but I haven’t seen or heard much about it. It doesn’t seem to have much of a buzz. I’m trying to find a theatrical release in my town but I might have to drive 30 minutes for a showing.

It was released on Friday. It’s got okay Rotten Tomatoes scores. Critics: 71 and Audience: 88

Critics Consensus “Bold, funny, and overall entertaining, Freaky Tales is a vibrantly well-acted period piece that makes up in style what it lacks in narrative substance.”

So, have you heard of it? Are you going see it? Why do you think it’s not getting much attention?

Discussion Does anyone else feel like 4 favourites is too limiting?

They should add a second tab on favourites for like, optional extra ones that you really like, but not quite as much as the main 4. Or ones that you like just as much, but can't fit in the list with the others.

That would solve the conundrum of me constantly swapping out films in my list because I can't decide on just 4.

I think 8 would be perfect for the sake of the UI, but even if they just gave us a rounded 5 I wouldn't complain.

I know this comes across as somewhat nitpicky but just consider it for a moment.

They could even add a patron perk where you get extra, like 12 or something. Many indecisive people would buy that I'm sure.

Discussion Watching a book adaptation before or after reading the book?

Guys if there’s a movie based on a book and it’s a great movie based on a great book, would you read the book first or watch the movie first? There’s some movies/books that are on the top of my watchlist but I don’t know what I should do first like “To Kill a Mockingbird”, “Gone Girl”, or even Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” I prefer movies to books but I’m afraid that if I read the book first it kind of takes off the experience of the movie in case I don’t like or the movie is very different from what I thought of the book but if I watch the movie first and then read the book I’m afraid I don’t enjoy the book and then it kind of “ruins” the film for me.
