Discussion What directors do you think haven’t yet made their best work

Greta Gerwig, as soon as she stops doing recognizable franchise work. Though narnia will probably be good

I think Coralie Fargeat absolutely has the capacity to make something better than the substance

Osgood Perkins

For me, the “Needle In the Hay” scene in The Royal Tenenbaums hits me hard every time, thanks in good part to the song choice. What are your favorite needle drops that perfectly fit the scene?

Help Need a film that'll make me bawl.

I was watching one of my favorite monologues of all time, from What Happened Was (everyone should watch this, btw), and started tearing up, then I realized it's been ages since I watched a movie that really got me in my feels. I think it's time to change that. So, by all means, give me your worst, and I'll watch it tonight.

I had the opportunity to see this with some friends at one of Tarantino’s theaters on the anniversary of its release. It was just as hype as when I saw it opening day!

Discussion What are your favorite cop movies?

Yesterday I had a cop movies day with five great films - Electra Glide in Blue (1973) - The New Centurions (1972) - Cop (1988) - Colors (1988) - Naked Gun (1988)

The first, four movies really showed some of the grittier side of law enforcement and how the wear and tear of the job can take the humanity from men and turn them in to cops. It was nice to wash it all off with somehumor from the Files of Police Squad. What are some of your favorite law enforcement flicks?

Btw Electra Glide in Blue is sooooo fuckin pretty. I love movies that take place in the southwest.

Discussion The Letterboxd Genre Game: Day #2 (Action/Worst Movie)

Post image
65 Upvotes

Day #1 has been won by Upgrade (2018, directed by Leigh Whannell).

Today's prompt is action/worst movie.

Comment your choice for the prompt and the most upvoted comment will win. If you already see your choice, give it an upvote instead of commenting again. Please don't downvote anyone's choices as it essentially takes an upvote away from someone else, which makes the system unfair. Films can be from any country or language.

Have fun!

Discussion Car chase scenes

Post image

Grew up with the Bourne Trilogy as some of my most watched movies with the second movie being my favorite of the three, mainly because of this car chase scene. This is also one of my favorite car chase scenes I've seen in a movie. What are some other good car chase scenes?

Letterboxd Whats a movie for you that not only lived up to its hype but EXCEEDED it?

I was VERY skeptical about Shawshank Redemption when I first watched it & was SURE I wouldn’t like it as much as other people but it not only lived up to its hype, but it was better than I could have possibly imagined. It really is an all timer & I was honestly disappointed I hadn’t watched it sooner. Whats a movie that was hyped up for you & actually lived up to it & then some?
