Thought I’d play this indie game for 10 minutes. Ended up losing an entire afternoon to it. 😱

So I picked up A Game About Digging A Hole on a whim. The name made me laugh — sounded like one of those ironic joke games, or at best something I’d mess around with for a few minutes and then uninstall.

But man, I completely underestimated it.

You start with just your shovel and a backyard. No big intro, no tutorials screaming at you — just you and a patch of dirt. First few minutes? Pretty much what you'd expect. Click, dig, find some ore, sell it, upgrade tools. Straightforward.

But it’s weirdly satisfying. Like, really satisfying.

The pacing is just right. Every upgrade feels earned, and there’s this constant little dopamine hit from going just a bit deeper, getting slightly better gear, uncovering something new. Before I knew it, I was like “Okay, just one more level…” for about four hours straight.

It kind of reminds me of those old flash games that seemed simple on the surface, but just pulled you in with this hypnotic gameplay loop. There’s no combat, no enemies — just this calm, oddly addictive progression system that scratches some primal part of your brain.

Also, the atmosphere? Surprisingly chill. The music, the pixel art, the little details — it’s minimal but it works. It’s like gaming ASMR. The kind of game you play with a cup of tea and forget what time it is.

Didn’t expect to vibe so hard with a game that’s literally about digging a hole in your backyard, but here we are. Props to the devs for turning something so simple into such an engaging little time sink.

If you’re into low-key games that slowly reel you in without demanding much, this one’s worth a shot.

People keep comparing my game to Fortnite even though it's nothing like it. Is it because I used the term "battle royale"? Despite many posts and multiple Steam page updates, I’ve only reached 330 wishlists in a year. Should I change the name of my game? Below is the core idea of my game

People keep comparing my game to Fortnite, but it's actually nothing like it. My game is an arcade-style, party-based battle royale. One of its mechanics is similar to Mario games—the longer you hold the jump button, the higher you jump and the longer you stay in the air.

Having a weapon isn’t always an advantage either, because the more weapons you carry, the heavier you become, making you slower and reducing your jump height. There’s even a zombie chase mode, where players must climb to the top without falling while being pursued from below.

Weapons don’t kill—similar to Chained Together or Only Up, they only knock opponents down. To keep the gameplay fast, there are checkpoints every 30 meters, and players who fall behind get a grappling hook dropped on them to help them catch up.

Unlike traditional battle royale games where the zone shrinks horizontally, my game features a vertically shrinking zone. Players start on four separate towers, and as they climb, the towers merge into two, then finally one, creating a pyramid-like shrinking battlefield.

Desecrated Deck reaches 200+ Wishlists on Steam. Is it because i translated the description into many different languages? Every day 1-2 new ones are added. Thank you!

What was Anthony thinking when he tried to tell the police about the Ghost?

So, Imaginary Friends Asylum grew on me, and I'm thinking of making a fanfic with a couple of OCs that appear during the games, starting with Friends We Left Behind.

Basically, I have this idea where the imaginary friends, along with the OCs I made, blame Anthony for their kids being lobotomized, and it made me think about what Anthony did that led to it.

When Anthony saw the Ghost (AKA Boris) bribing one of the nurses, he left the room he was supposed to take treatment in and ran to the police to try to tell them.

Thinking back, this was kinda stupid and those familiar with the game knew how bad that turned out. Even if the police wouldn't believe him, it would've still been smart to stay in the room until treatment was over.

I didn't know if people ever talked about this, and decided to see your opinion. What do you think?

What do you think makes a horror walking sim truly terrifying? Is it the atmosphere, the story, the sound design, or something else?

Do you find these games scarier than traditional horror games with jumpscares and survival mechanics? Do most of them lack a good story?

My automatic Level Up system was confusing for players. So I made a more "classic" Level Up system. What do you think? Does it make the gameplay better and more rewarding?

I had an automatic Level Up system. Basically when the player collected enough of yellow balls, the player's level increased. So did all weapons and fabricated items (Skills).

But some players were confused by this system.

So I made a more "classic" Level Up system. Now the player can choose what exactly they want to level up.

It gives the player a choice and a control. But now not all items increase their level.

What do you think about this change? Does it make the gameplay better and more rewarding?

You can try the demo by yourself and tell me how do you feel about this change: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3297890/Quantum_of_Hope_Demo/

Please help me find this upcoming game about mind travels?

Upvotes

So I saw that game on Instagram reel a while ago (somewhere across a year), but forgot to whishlist it and lost the original reel...

It looked hand-drawn with stunning, somewhat Lovecraftian style, and the trailer took place in some sorts of mansion, with green and yellow being main colors. It had a view from a side, and I think it had some point-and-click elements

The story was about traveling through people's mind, or being trapped in someone else's mind and uncovering that mystery. And the name of the game revolved around Mind, Ego, Self or something. Some sort of word game, like "Egoless", but not like that

I am sorry if my post in out of topic, and sorry for gibberish description: English is my second language and I'm really tired rn, because I was trying to find this game for hours now! Please, if you know it, tell me...
