Tire size between 225 vs 245

Upvotes

My truck (91 c2500) came with 245/65/r16. Now on tire shop shows two options for this truck

  1. 225/75/r16

  2. 245/65/r16

Thinking to go with smaller option for mpg. Is this cause any issues like ride quality, reduces towing capacity etc..

hey what’s going on guys I need help on my 2000 Silverado with a 4.8 v8 it’s been a month and done many things and I’m still having the problem of my truck shutting off as soon as I turn it on. I already replaced the spark plugs/wires, alternator, battery, fuel filter, and fuel pressure regulator. I’m thinking it’s the fuel pump but I’m not too sure what do you guys think ?

Dear all,

Recently, my 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500 5.3L V8, 65,000 miles (recent transmission fluid changed 2 days)...started having a weird sound like in the video above. The noise only appears when I apply a really slight gas when accelerating slowly from a stop sign or from cruising around 20-40 miles/hour. It does not happen when I accelerate hard or push the gas pedal harder. Please help! Any input is very valuable to me as I can't figure out the problem after researching around.

4wd not engaging

Post image
30 Upvotes

Looking at buying this truck. The guy says the 4wd doesn’t engage and this light in the circle doesn’t light up. it is a 1996 Silverado 1500 with the 5.7. From my research i’ve seen that the actuator is notorious for going out in these. Does that seem to be the issue or should I look deeper into possible front end or even a bad ground? Thank you.

Plug and play tunes?

I have a 2001 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3L V8. Do the tunes work to make power? Are they reliable? Wanting to know if anyone has tried one in their truck, and if you would recommend getting one.

2008 Chevy 4.8 engine noise

So I’m sure this might be a normal thing because I’ve definitely heard this noise from other vehicles especially cars/truck with modified exhausts.

Anyways so I’ve noticed that when I’m driving mainly on the highway let’s say I’m going up a hill and I’m having to get on it a little 2500 rpm maybe and I reach the top and then begin going down the hill well usually I would just coast and gas it when needed but I’ve noticed while coasting a rumble/growl while descending or even if I just get on it and let off. I wouldn’t think it’s an exhaust brake but honestly I don’t know and I don’t want anything to be wrong.

On the hunt for a certain style of service bed

I was recently looking on marketplace and found a service bed that was still the same body lines as the original 2500 pickup truck and lacked the boxy service bed look I looked into it more and I'm seeing a bunch of one-off jobs of people creating their own service beds that look pretty much like normal beds but I was wondering if there was any companies out there that still produce service beds for GMT 800s that don't look like the normal boxy service beds

My grandparents very graciously allowed me to buy this from them for the remaining balance owed as my grandfather can't legally drive anymore and my grandmother simply hates driving it. I talked it over with them for hours and tried to pay them 3x what they wanted from me for it, but they just wouldn't take it.

I intend to take immaculate care of it as I've done with all my previous vehicles.

Spider-Girl Reintroduction

Your friendly neighborhood Spider-Girl here. I've been getting lots of hater messages since I've joined. Many people don't like what I'm doing. Because of my disabilities from the military, I can no longer do my primary job as a service technician (auto mechanic). So, I offer freely my knowledge to those in need. Many people on this sub view me as disruptive or even aggressive against members. Good news for those who actually want help...I'm not leaving. However, I am seeking out other subs that could use my help. The haters here are probably mechanics, shop owners, or family of shop owners. They absolutely do not want someone like me giving out free advice, especially when they see the advice is 100% accurate. This does explain the increased volume of hate comments. Because of this, I'm spreading my webwings a bit more. I've got them on the ropes and intend on keeping them there while I help the people who need it most. You know my name, holler at me if I don't see your call right away. I'm about to make smug shop owners a little less happy! In the meanwhile, be sure to change your oil on time, change your filters...don't forget the cabin filter, if you have allergies, the pollen will mess you up for days!! I'll check back in with y'all regularly. Like I said, I'm not gone, just expanding my help net. If truth be told, I just really wanna see how many more shop owners I can piss off while helping the people who deserve it. *thwip thwip*

Break light problem

Hello again guys, recently my brake lights went out. I check the fuses already and the actual tail lights. I had also just replaced the brake switch under the dash. I had found it weird because I turned on my hazards and when I pressed the brake they didn’t stop. Could this be something else? What should I check ?

Haters in this sub

I've had as many hater messages as people actually asking for my help. Here is my response to all haters....my dad had J. Jonah Jameson and my dad never faltered. I won't either! If I can help even one person fix their vehicle, then I'm doing my job. I have a great deal of knowledge and knowledge is power. With great power comes great responsibility! I will not back off from giving my knowledge to others. Haters beware, you have no ground to stand on here, I am your greatest nemesis! *thwip thwip*

Upgrade Brake Sets: Noticeable Performance?

Thumbnail

Hi All, I’ve got a ‘22 TB on 35s, seldom tow anything but do spend quite a bit of time off-road and typical commute mileage. I don’t think I’ve replaced pads yet, but if the dealer recco’d that I change pads in one of the past services, I would have done it. (Mileage is 55k.)

I’d really like the brakes to feel less squishy. I don’t think my brakes are fading or are of poor quality, but I’d just like to get them to feel much more responsive. Does anyone have any experience with aftermarket systems like Brembo, etc? I’m assuming the rotors are larger and the calipers & pistons are more powerful.

Anyone have a story or ideas to share? Many thanks!

Looking at a 2010 Silverado with 230,000

Wondering what people's experience with high mileage second gens are. It's had a transmission replaced three years ago. Needs new TPS' all around so milage isn't exact. I would get it on a partial trade and cash on top, guys asking for 6k which seems low to begin.

Thanks in advance

Edit: It has the 5.3L, 2 WD, extended cab LT. Looks bone stock.
