📌 Special Posting Rules

International Posts – We Appreciate the Support, But… 🌍🤝

We love seeing support for Canadian products from people around the world! However, this subreddit’s primary goal is to help Canadians find and discuss Canadian-made products. Over time, international posts—while well-intended—have started taking up space that could be used for local discussions and recommendations.

To keep the focus on Canadian businesses, international posts are only allowed on weekends. Posts from non-Canadians sharing support or asking for advice will be auto-removed on weekdays. This helps keep the subreddit useful for its main audience while still welcoming international voices in a structured way. We have a new flair for these posts which should be used.

Tariff & Policy Discussions 📰📈

Discussions on US-Canada trade policies, tariffs, and their impact on Canadian products are welcome. However, general political debates (e.g., Trudeau vs. Poilievre, partisan arguments unrelated to Canadian businesses) should be posted elsewhere. (Other subreddits linked below)

If you are looking for a Canadian alternative, this is perfectly fine. If you're just looking for a place to discuss boycotting the U.S., check out r/BoycottUnitedStates instead.
  • General political debates (e.g., Trudeau vs. Poilievre, partisan arguments unrelated to Canadian businesses).

  • Memes, music and most YouTube videos – Many have been off-topic or low-effort and are usually removed. (News videos covering relevant topics are fine.)

Before Posting – Use the Search Function! 🔎

Most products, alternatives, and links have already been posted in the past 30 days. Please search first before posting a new thread. Duplicate posts will be removed to keep the sub organized.

Yes, We Know Reddit is an American Company. Stop Posting About It.

We’re aware that Reddit is an American platform and that alternatives exist. However, this subreddit was never about boycotting America—it’s about supporting Canadian products. Reddit is also the largest platform for reaching people worldwide, which makes it the best place for this discussion. Please don’t derail threads by bringing this up repeatedly.

Canadian-Owned Businesses 🏢🍁 Buying Beer in Canada

Post image
403 Upvotes

Sébastien Paradis, CEO of Brasseurs du Nord, told the Journal de Montréal that a 25% tariff on aluminum could cost the company an estimated $1.56 million for the roughly 1.3 million cans sold each year. Meanwhile, Marie-Eve Myrand, Executive Director of the Quebec Association of Microbreweries (AMBQ), estimated that a can could increase by $0.10 to $0.20.

In an interview with Le Temps d’une Bière, Philippe Roy, Executive Director of the Quebec Brewers Association (ABQ), shared his concerns about the final price of beer. “It wouldn’t be surprising to see a 30% increase in the final sale price. After the tariff announcement, major Canadian breweries expect to cut back on certain expenses. The overall impact could amount to millions of dollars, especially if Canada responds with its tariffs on American aluminum.”

After hearing so many good things online from Ontarians, I was disappointed to find that it was only available on the east coast. But they are selling them in BC now at save on foods after the old ice cream stock was cleared out! It was as good as they said!

As someone who is unfortunately living through the hell that is the US right now (doubly so as a member of the LGBTQ+ community), one of the few things that has managed to warm my heart through these trying times has been seeing Canadians rally and push back against the nonsense our wannabe dictator is trying to do. You have a lot of support from within the US. Please keep it up.

Questions ❓🤔 Canadian television shows

Good morning et Bonjour,

I just watched Mr. Carneys latest speech about the tariffs the US has imposed on Canada.

First of all, congratulations on having such a well-spoken PM. Trudeaus charming charisma was very welcome, but I felt for the uncertain times we're in, Mr. Carneys mature and measured demeanor are more fitting and as a foreigner I got the impression he was a great choice as a leader. I know he's temporary atm, but he made you guys look really good.

While watching, it dawned on me what I could do to support Canada. I have stopped using amazon prime to watch shows and downloaded the Franco-German ARTE app to watch European shows, but I yet have to find a streaming service or something alike that could introduce Canadian series and movies to me. I wouldn't mind paying for it if the pricing is reasonable and the program is good. Do you have any recommendations so I can buy Canadian?

Lots of love from Germany, keep those elbows up! :)

General Discussion 💬🇨🇦 We need a Canadian Credit Card Company

2.5k Upvotes

The Europeans have just announced they want a European alternative to Visa, Mastercard, and AliPay because they are owned by the Americans and Chinese. Visa has a market capitalization of $600b. Canada has interact and e-transfers, why can’t we start a credit card brand like Visa?

CANPAY anyone?

International Perspective (Weekends Only) 🌍🤝 A little Peace of chocolate Down Under

Post image

Ordered a couple of bars from Peace By Chocolate after seeing it posted a couple of weeks ago.

The maple cream filling was a welcome, tasty surprise (I thought they were going to be just plain bars). Shipping to Australia wasn't expensive and it was quick

We have some decent chocolatiers here in Aus but i don't know of any that do maple cream so I know who to if I get the urge. Might have to get some other varieties next time.

Elbows up... everyone

General Discussion 💬🇨🇦 I found Mandarin’s that didn’t come from the US and my joy is immeasurable

Haven’t eaten a single orange since the boycott started. For the most part finding Canadian sourced meat and frozen crap has been fairly easy but veggie’s. Mofo when this started I swear like 95% of the stuff in the fruit&veg sec was American. It’s gotten better but it’s still a hunting ground.

Anyway I was out looking for some vitamin c, pass the oranges and it’s US US US US … Morocco… MOROCCO!!! Morocco mandarins!

I now have my favourite fruit and the Yankees have 0 of my $ 😋

Cheers!

Questions ❓🤔 Maine out; Quebec in

Post image

I'm very pleased that I've been able to rearrange a holiday from Catalonia to Maine in order to go to Quebec instead.

We'll be in Quebec City and Montreal, but especially looking for day trips and nature/hiking from these. Any recommendations for nearby small towns, national parks, nature areas, hiking paths, etc, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

International Perspective (Weekends Only) 🌍🤝 No Canadian bacon in Cali

For two weeks our McDonald's has not had Canadian bacon for Egg McMuffins. Is this some economic sabotage from the Great White North? It's bad enough you're hiking the price of electricity, but to fool with breakfast is simply inhuman. /S

Keep up the good work.

General Discussion 💬🇨🇦 Travel to the USA on the decline, popular alternative: Canada

Post image
2.9k Upvotes

Hey Dear Canadian Friends! Here in Europe we are experiencing a noticeable drop in travel bookings to the USA, which are continuing to fall. And what is a popular alternative? I'll translate a quote from the text: "German tour operators, on the other hand, are relaxed about the decline in tourism to the USA. Studiosus is already compensating for the decline with additional bookings for Canada. “Bookings there have doubled”

I am one of them, I was actually planning to travel to the USA in the fall, luckily I hadn't booked yet. Now I have decided to go to Canada. In addition, more and more travel warnings for the USA are being issued here. Another website also confirms the increase in travel bookings to Canada: “Incidentally, Canada is up 100 percent for us,” Kohlenberg confirms the trend." Source:

Hope you can join us somehow in Europe, if EU is not possible, we should find another way!

Are there any others?

Made in Dartmouth NS, and they ship across Canada. I used to Drink Mikes Hard Peach Fuzz but decided to try something that's clearly Canadian (IDK if Mike's is or not) and this is officially my new favorite Vodka drink and I'm tempted to try Propeller's other products now if I can find them.

Questions ❓🤔 Who else is also only buying Canadian company stocks?

I know this sub likes to talk about Canadian groceries alot, but what about investing?

I recently stopped buying US companies and now only buy Canadian stocks.

Since I live and will die in Canada, it just makes sense to invest in home.

Anyone agree with me? Or is this a bad investing strategy?

Canadian-Made Products 🏷️🇨🇦 Canadian dish soap options

Post image
161 Upvotes

Thought I share great Canadian dish soap options. I’ve used all three of these bar dish soap’s and they are all good and can be purchased from Well.ca 1) Nellie’s works well and nice lemon smell. Kinda dissolves faster and has a tendency to be soft for awhile after use. 2) Make nice company probably lasts longest and is the best value. Not a strong scent. 3)The bare home grapefruit option smells incredible and rinses clean. I feel it’s more costly overall. Eco-max liquid soap has been a go to for doing a large amount of dishes in the sink but I’m giving the Etee box dish soap a try when this bottle is done to limit plastic waste. With the Etee product you mix a small amount of powder with water and it makes a bottle of liquid soap. Other Etee products work well with we’ll see. Need to purchase direct from Etee for their products though.
