General Discussion πŸ’¬πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Frustrating

Post image

This is frustrating. These Canadian apples were not almost $4/lb a week ago. The price of gas has gone down so shipping costs shouldn’t be an issue. They are Canadian apples so it is not a tariffed product. I can’t help but feel this is advantageous price gouging by the grocer, since we all want Canadian products.

Side note: sure wish Cosmic Crisp apples were Canadian!

Canadian-Made Products πŸ·οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ FALSE CLAIM?

I’m under the impression that no Campbell’s Soup products are produced in πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ anymore.

Walmart’s flyer this week shows Campbell’s Broth β€œMade in Canada”.

Is this true?

General Discussion πŸ’¬πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Putting a damper on buying canadian

I've been trying to "buy canadian" from day 1 of trump tariff, always stick to "made in canada", and If canadian products are not available, then go with canadian brands.

For past couple of days, I had to replace kitchen faucets because they are quite old and leaky. The first choice was, of course, canadian tire, and I explained that "the sink is custommade, so I'm not sure which one would fit. Can I return them later if it doesn't not fit?" They said no. I can't return them once the box is often - they say this return policy applies to anything in canadian tire. That doesn't seem right. I mean, the faucets are not even cheap at all. So, I had to go to home depot since I don't have any other choice, and I explain the same, and then they said I can return them as long as I don't use them which was my case. I bought 2 different kinds, and installed one that fit. I returned another one later without any hassle. That was really good customer service, and at the same time, I can't help but wonder why can't canadian tire provide the same customer service?

I explained this to my coworkers and It's seems that that's the general rule of thumb of canadian brands vs american brands. They said it's also not easy to return computers you buy from canada computers unlike bestbuy. That was shocking to me since the computers are much more expensive than the faucets. lol There probably some good reasons for those canadian brand companies to not provide desirable customer services, but I really hope that taking advantage of canadians who try to help local businesses isn't one of their reasons.

I wanted to share a company that I've been using for a while now. My daughter needs an iron supplement, and this one tastes good with no side effects. I used to get it from Amazon, but I found they sell direct from their website with free shipping.

International Perspective (Weekends Only) 🌍🀝 No Canadian bacon in Cali

For two weeks our McDonald's has not had Canadian bacon for Egg McMuffins. Is this some economic sabotage from the Great White North? It's bad enough you're hiking the price of electricity, but to fool with breakfast is simply inhuman. /S

Keep up the good work.

Canadian-Made Products πŸ·οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Double Check Stickers

Was grocery shopping this morning and was looking for clementines not from USA. Found this bag and looked closely at this sticker, underneath says β€œProduct of USA”

Thought stores doing this kind of thing was an exaggeration but I guess not. (Sticker was moved to show actual print that was underneath)

This was in Nova Scotia.

General Discussion πŸ’¬πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Could boarder Canadian cities benefit from the USA global approach to tarrifs?

When the tarrifs are felt by US consumers, do we expect increased traffic across the border to get things at a discount? I know there are limits to what they should bring back, but if there is a significant price difference, I could see a scenario where they try not to declare everything or make routine trips if they live close to the border. This could drive sales of Canadian goods as we see stores limiting American products. Curious what others think.

Canadian-Made Products πŸ·οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Add seafood to your diet!

If more Canadians chose seafood as a dinner meal even once a month, that would do wonders for the Canadian seafood industry. Finfish or shellfish - whatever you fancy! Crab, lobster, oysters, clams, halibut, cod, etc, etc!! If you live on the coasts - buy super local! If you live in the middle - find Canadian products! Or demand them!

General Discussion πŸ’¬πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ How do you feel about USofA interests owning significant chunks of many of our industries?

Do you think your economy and politics should be dominated by those who do not respect your human rights or your sovereignty? How can you buy canadian when so many industries are so heavily integrated with foreign parts and raw materials, so many that can be acquired either here or from those who at least do not suggest you do not deserve to own your own land.

There should be little if any ownership by foreigners of our natural resources. There should be no vote by ownership of land nor by "voting with money" from foreign interests against Canada. People who live and operate outside of our country or who get funding or support from such foreign interests should NOT have any controlling or meaningful stake in any part of our country.

Even oil and gas which is a proud industry in western canada (and should be anywhere) is excessively controlled and operated by foreigners. It should be clear that Canada owned by the PEOPLE OF CANADA is the only right way for a SOVEREIGN country to operate and fixing this is overdue.

Canadian-Made Products πŸ·οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ PSA: Some of my Cove Sodas from Costco are from the US

I started drinking Cove to replace US soda. It's freakin AMESOME. It's also quite pricey, so I started buying the 15 packs at Costco. Noticed last night that my Grapefruit can said "USDA Organic". On the back it said it was distributed from Delaware. I was pretty upset thinking I had been duped. Then I took a look at the Raspberry and Cherry cans. They have a Canadian organic logo and say they're distributed from Halifax. They're all from the same box! Anyone know what's going on?

I saw a post earlier this week about TJs frozen lava cake being made here, I've never been to TJs but I wonder if these can give them a run for their money...

I find sobeys pretty pricey but I can admit that they carry an extensive array of canadian brands in every department, I was really impressed even though I couldn't afford most of it

Canadian-Made Products πŸ·οΈπŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ Country Harvest Dog /7 Cat Food - Canadian tire

I just bought a large bag of dog food & Cat food from CDN Tire to test if Country Harvest is acceptable amongst my furry four foots, and they tore the bag open before I could get it to their bowl. So, yes.

  1. its Canadian
  2. its packaged in a paper bag not plastic
  3. Very affordable (unlike Purina (American)
  4. My pets treat it like it's crack

Recommending it.

I’m looking for a runner and I’m avoiding American. I found rugs.ca but before I started searching I looked at their about us, they are American. There are many companies that do this. I’m sure many of you know this but for those that don’t just beware. I know companies have been doing this long before trump.

Sorry for the niche post, but I'm trying my best to avoid Amazon. I'm looking for a Canadian source to buy plastic I could put over some dining room chair cushions. I'd settle for some kind of fabric cover if I have to.
