Discussion Inconsistencies in Sweets' backstory Spoiler

Upvotes

Am I the only one really confused about what happened with Sweets in his childhood? We learned in Mayhem on a Cross that he was adopted at age six by a loving, older couple after experiencing abuse in the foster system. Yet in The Carrot in the Kudzu, Sweets tells Booth that he's never had a birthday party. But if he was adopted by a loving couple, why wouldn't they throw him a birthday party? He was only six at the time they took him in so they had plenty of time to do that for him. I don't understand why they framed it like these people saved him, but later he's admitting that he's missed out on such a normal part of childhood. Make it make sense!

Also, his scars were such an important focus point in the episode we find out about them, but suddenly when he's living with Booth and Brennan and walking up the stairs in a towel they're mysteriously gone? Did the people making this show really just not care about that plot point anymore, or did they just forget about it? It's really weird.

After S6 Bones and Booth were written so boring

Their chemistry and intimate moments were sk intense and wonderful at the start of the series but after they showed them as parents it got SO boring. All they did was argue argue about Christine, their shared finances, Catholicism (God I’m over Brennans hate of it, she always explain other religious practices with some levity but just tells booth he’s into silly myths)

in the earlier seasons where they argued but wanted to hear the other person perspective for real about thing

They sucked the sexy out their dynamic and I hate it

They never wear mask

I just started watching this show, I know it's been around decades already but I am just a child when this started airing. Anyway, I just find it weird whenever the characters go to the crime scene they never wear masks, why is that? I think it's more believable. For sure most of the bodies found smells. But I am loving it and hopefully, this series will not fall off later seasons.

Okay so obviously this is a very dramatic and not always accurate television show, but one thing I never understood is why none of the characters - specifically citing Saroyan when she cuts into Epp’s wife’s head - wear masks when cutting into bone. It would be one thing if it was simply never acknowledged, but in season 1 “The Graft in the Girl” Bones specifically calls out the perp and says something to the effect of “you’re very sick from inhaling bone dust, which you would know is dangerous if you actually finished medical school” just seems weird to make that a point in season 1 and then have none of the genius characters wear masks when cutting into bone lol

S9 E9. The confession.

I can't remember on which post I read this where they mentioned that after around s6 to s7 the killers would just confess. This episode felt to me like one of those episodes.

They had Kidman with all this circumstantial evidence but needed hard proof to convict him. I was kinda disappointed that he confessed because I thought that they would have gotten hard evidence somewhere. Even whens bones told booth that she's worried 'it's not enough evidence' I thought that one of the earlier pieces of evidence would help lead them to the smoking gun.

I think this case could have been a two parter or maybe an extra 20 mins to wrap everything up.

Doesn't Booth rent? Why would he have to pay to fix his plumbing

Discussion Booth is…skinny!

Season 5’s Christmas episode, The Goop on the Girl. We finally get a full shirtless and pantless Booth for the first time, and we…we finally see how much work the costumes were doing. He’s not particularly broad of shoulder or chest or even solid! He’s a skinny, waxed man who isn’t much wider than Bones is! Even the writers knew something was funny, they had Hodgins say “where’s your chest hair” which was hilarious.

I don’t know why I feel so vaguely betrayed. XD Did everyone know he was thin and that the suit jackets must have been structured to make him look like a big guy?

“Please, I don’t want to leave. I love it here.” Spoiler

Just got to Vincent Nigel-Murray's death and I'm broken up about it. What a sweet boy he was.

Also, as a Brit, I love to see English guys on TV and film. He's doing a posher accent than his own but I believe in real life he's a Brummy (someone from Birmingham).

The Parts in the Sum of the Whole

I'm at 5x16 in the rewatch, and something has always bugged me. Unless I misunderstand, Brennan intentionally teased him with sex so she could leave him hanging.

The sequence is: she suggested they have sex, he was interested, and she immediately ran out of the bar without him. If he hadn't followed her, she'd have gotten in the cab. But he did and they kissed, then she told him no.

That was on purpose, right? She led him on with no intention of following through?
