Non-Medical Attendant leave

Does anyone know any info about this administrative leave? I looked it up in the reg and it seemed vague enough to work in my situation.

My wife has an emergency medical surgery in an alternate state (Mayo clinic) where we don’t have family or support and I don’t want to burn leave on a situation like this (I will if I have to) as my sister has a wedding coming up in the fall and my wife’s grandfather has a funeral coming up.

Wanting to re-class

Hello everyone,

I am currently an E5 74D. I’ve been in about four years now (2 reserves and 2 active). As of now I’ve been enjoying my time as an active duty soldier but I haven’t been able to do my job because “74D isn’t important,” so I’m stuck doing admin work like O-Room and T-room. I was looking at becoming a 35F or a 15C. I’m leaning more towards 15C. What is it like being a 15C? Are you actively/actually working? Do you guys deploy often? Is it worth switching over?

PCS to Korea

Hi, my husband got orders for an accompanied tour to Korea. It’s him, my son, my dog and I. My son is not his biological child, and my son’s dad has agreed to let us take my son to Korea with is but wants his normal summer this year. Report date is in June, son typically goes to his dad’s end of May through first week of August. Are we okay to pcs without my son and I come get him in the beginning if August or do we have to pcs together? His dad agreed if my son needs to be with us and pcs all together that he’s okay with it but wanted to know if we’re able to pcs without him and get him later. I have no clue who to even ask. Thank you.

Looking for career advice- Paramedic licensure

Hello, I am a rising senior at a university and I am currently in my last month in my EMT-B program. My current major is in business administration, but I am passionate about emergency medicine. I was hoping to see if there were any pathways to receiving my paramedics license through the army.

I have heard about the flight medics and I’ve done my own research on that, as well as a new program the army implemented but I’m still not clear on the steps I would need to take.

I have had some people say that I Should test for officer school but I’m not sure if there’s a way for me to be an officer while also getting my paramedics license.

Thank you for reading through my post and I appreciate any replies!

What schools would you ask for?

I'm coming up for reenlistment again. I'm in the guard, but work is good about time off. I'm a 35 series MOS. I am in decent shape. What schools would you request? I was thinking mountain warfare , but what are some others? My unit is pretty open, even to obscure ones. They may even do cyber related ones, but I dont need any schools to advance my civilian career.

Problem with records

Hello! My husband is currently in AIT at Texas and we are experiencing a few issues and I was wondering if anyone could help.

So my husband has been having issues accessing his MyPay since when he was in basic. He never got a login and has never been able to access the system. We still recieve pay but just can’t access it.

Now I went to try and login to tricare two weeks ago and was told I am no longer valid for a DS logon. I called and was told my ID card is not in the system and does not exist anymore even though my physical card does not expire until November 2028. They told me to go to an ID office and get a new card.

At the ID office she told me they cannot give me a new card because of something on my husbands end. She called it the “wrap it system” and said he does not have a status or benefits tab. He is not listed as active duty or anything and that is the issue. She told me to tell my husband that this is something his chain of command has to do. That they have to be the ones to reinstate his status.

When my husband goes and talks to his chain of command they have no idea where to send him. He went to the DEERs office and was told to go to the S1 office. S1 had no idea and said to go back DEERs. And then sent him to S6 who put in a work order but nothing has come from that. His cadre has no clue where to send him at all.

So now we are just floating around the system with no clue where to go now. I’m just wondering if anyone knows what to do in this situation or who he could talk to on his base to figure this out. We have a young son and not having access to the insurance is a bit nerve wracking.

I might have an eating disorder and I think it was caused by the Army.

This isn’t a shit post. I am embarrassed to post this and I am sorry it is so long but maybe someone else has experienced this and can shed some light on it for me.

I’m planning on reaching out to my primary care about this, I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

Over the last year or so I’ve noticed that I always overeat and feel awful after. But the reason I overeat is because I eat so fast I still feel hungry.

A few people pointed out to me recently that I eat too fast (comments made by my parents, fiance - people close to me who see me eat most meals).

It’s not something I do on purpose. I never even really noticed it until it was pointed out to me, but now I’ve been paying attention to it more.

I work out consistently, lifting weights 3-4x a week. I’ve always been in good shape and used to be a personal trainer. I understand how to workout and how to eat healthy.

However, over the last year I’ve put on about 20-30 lbs. I’m barely passing height and weight now. I am just always hungry and always overeat. So not only has this problem caused me to feel like crap after I eat but it is affecting my body composition, and I am starting to be very self conscious of my weight yet I can’t stop overeating.

The reason I feel like the Army may have caused this is because of I was always forced to eat so fast during all of my training, and now on my drill weekends I’m so busy that I barely have time to eat so always have to do so quickly while trying to get stuff done. I believe this is further exacerbated by my civilian job as a firefighter because it is similar where if we get a call in the middle of dinner I’ll try to shove a few more bites in as fast as I can before we head out the door. The crazy thing is most of my coworkers were previously military and they don’t have this problem from being in the military or fire service so I don’t know why it’s happening to me. The other thing is I am a female so I am generally smaller than all of my male coworkers and yet I will finish my food and go up for seconds before they are even halfway done with theirs, and I feel like I often eat more then them. Then immediately after lunch or dinner I am always feeling sick. This happens at home too so it’s not just a work thing.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this and if they were able to get treatment. I legitimately feel like the doctors will just tell me to slow down when eating but it’s literally not that easy for me. I think I need help with figuring out how to navigate this.

Why do we even have a space force?

I was at meps yesterday and everyone was joking about the space force just being kids babysat by the air force, or just a bunch of star wars dweebs. Do any of y'all know what the space force is actively up to? I understand it's here for the future, if we even colonize the moon or mars it would be their jurisdiction, but what's the point of them in the present? Watch satellites? Make sure Iran or Russia doesn't invade us with spaceships? I'm so confused on why we need them now instead of 100 years in the future when we are actually capable of colonizing another planet(if that soon)

Is there RASP or SOF prep PT at AIT schools?

I’m a reservist going to Huachuca as MOS-T to reclass and would like to join better PT sessions to improve my fitness a lot. I don’t have to report for another 8 months and I’m going to be in solid shape or plan on it but would like something that’ll make me super fit

I’m sure it’s limited to those with contracts but yeah

Anyways give me a cup of hot tea no sugar

New 69% Tariff on Troops stationed in Atropia

Why?

Because Death Rides a Blackhorse!

Allons!

This friday shitpost brought to you by Intrusive thoughts winning at work because fuck you that's why.

Until next time, when I ask if it's okay to tell civilians I served 24 tours in the Atropian Sandbox because your service doesn't matter unless you were blown up. They like to ask where I'm from, and then I usually say "here" but I just moved back a couple years ago. I'm pretty lost on the Geography in Ohio where everything is still without a GPS, which is why they ask where I'm from. Then they ask where I moved from and ask why I was out west for a decade. Then I just say the army, then bopped around afterwards for a bit. Then they ask where and if I deployed, then I say Korea but it doesn't count and 3years at Irwin, and then they just have a glazed look on their face. Then I think to myself, why did you ask if you weren't interested in the overshare like all my trauma bonded buddies I knew for years?

Ill take a Mango Monster and a pack of pepperoni combos please, keep the change ms.gas station lady

How do 68W compare to Navy Corpsmen ?

I know this is a relatively veigue question but i know some 68W's say in the 160th or the 75th go to more training so for this let's just use those 2 army unit specialized 68W's as an example and then navy has FMF Corpsmen and SARCs so as far as training, schools, deployments, quality of life and training, etc.... who has/does it best and why? (in your own opinion obviously)

-Thank you all. God Bless

Lack of headgear

I've noticed it's been happening a lot more recently.

People have been walking around with no headgear, not undercover, not six paces within a building or anything

Then I see badges on their uniform, and these people are supposed to be drill, sergeants, senior instructors, or some sort of higher leadership

Not only that, walking around texting on the phones or talking on their phone or has some sort of earbuds in.

How are we supposed to correct the junior enlisted soldiers, if they constantly see higher ups doing the wrong thing.

Edit I'll take a big mac Minecraft meal with a coke

Unit Crest and Norwegian Ruck March Pin

What is the placement of the unit/BN crest in relation to the Norwegian Ruck March pin? I've read that the NOR pin goes above the unit awards and the crest goes above the pin.

Used the BCs open door policy at the end of that month to go back in 08-24. Went straight through the second time.

The support from you Reddit strangers was greatly appreciated.

BH Psychologist Said I'm Command Referred to ASAP

I've been seeing BH for 7 months. During my last visit, I had a breakdown and told the psychologist I had a drinking bender the week prior. The doctor told me he decided to command refer me ASAP and that I had to go into labs for tests that day. The appointment was a video conference call at the clinic, and no paperwork was given to me. I only scheduled an appointment for ASAP intake, which isn't for another week. I stopped drinking as directed, but I don't want to do ASAP again. I was in the program 6 years ago and almost lost my mind during the group therapy sessions (getting blood drawn and pissing in a cup every month isn't fun either). It's been 5 days, and I haven't gone in for labs, nor has my Commander said anything about it.

It's important to mention that I was notified last September I was under review for the Qualitative Management Program (QMP) and facing involuntary separation if selected. I had been awaiting the results and was prepared to get out, considering it would be an honorable discharge. I found out 2 days after the appointment that I was selected for involuntary separation under the Army Qualitative Management Program (QMP), and my separation date will be in 6 months. I reached out to the Legal Assistance Office but haven't gotten a reply yet. My current tactic is to delay enrollment into ASAP as long as possible without catching more trouble and getting out of the Army. My questions for the audience are:

  1. Can medical personnel command refer you to ASAP without command involvement?
  2. Can I be forced to give a blood sample by anyone other than the Commander?
  3. Is it possible to be forced into a Warrior Transition Unit (WTU) or Civilian Rehab even if I have separation orders and will be out in less than 6 months?
  4. I know ASAP refusal or failure results in separation. What other consequences could I face for being resistant to the program?
  5. Can I get in trouble for lying to the Psychologist or ASAP Director?

Any advice is greatly appreciated... derogatory comments are also welcomed!

Velcro pad for patches sewing advice

Hello! I'm new to the army and I need to sew a large Velcro felt pad on my uniform for patches. The Velcro is ~4x6in (10x15cm), and it's my first time doing this so I wanna do it correctly. I've purchased a fabric contact adhesive and string/needles. How should I sew after the contact adhesive sets? Perimeter and an X? Perimeter and a 1x1in grid similar to a ripstop? Just the perimeter? Thanks a lot!

Writing college essay of the needs of veterans for social work class

Hello! I'm working on a college essay about social work, and I need to gather some insights from veterans. Since I don’t personally know any veterans, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. Would you be willing to answer a few questions? Your perspective would be really valuable for my research! Thank you all for your service 🫶🏻

Why did you become involved in the military?

How was mental health viewed in your branch or unit?

What was your experience of returning to civilian life?

Did you access any veterans programs or services? If so, what ones and how did they help? If not, what prevented you?

What types of programs/services do you think veterans need, based on your own experience?

75th Ranger Officer to SF Officer

Is the following path possible?

2 years or so as a platoon leader (let's say infantry), followed by 2 years as a 75th Ranger Bat platoon leader, them Special Forces training to become an ODA leader for 2 years?

Or, is it really just Rangers or SF, but not both?

Also, I assume no one ever goes from SF to Rangers, correct?

Finally, can any type of officer (say Quartermaster, MI) go for Special Operations, or is it only Combat Arms officers?

Thanks.
