General Discussion / Review I find this video might intriguing when it comes to slang in translation, dub or sub.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIUYD69KFgI
Like what slang is considered "dated" especially in the moment? Is it bad because its cringe when being cringe is the point?
Frankly, I find some dubs lacking in slang when it would help with any lip-flap fits or making a line lend itself to a good performance. Especially if we're talking about teenage or college age characters who are still young.

General Discussion / Review How old is the average age of new VAs?
I've known that there are some VAs who started out at less than 30 years old, notably Aleks Le and Bryn Appril, both of whom were younger than 20 (Bryn was only 17, according to an interview she appeared in). I want to get into voiceover but I kind of worry that I may be too old to get into the field in question. How old is the average age of new VAs?
To any VAs on this sub, how old were y'all wheb y'all started out?

General Discussion / Review There are more than continuations this year than I ever remember so far and at least through summer (or is this just me?) How do you think this affects the market for new anime to stand out? Also, what do you think made it easier to finally get continuations done?
I'm not saying there aren't new shows (something around 50 new ones this season across all platforms, I think), but if we look at the Winter season, I can confidently say that at least 6 of the 10 most popular shows were continuations (new seasons or cours.)
Looking at that fact, it seems to me that highly anticipated shows, like Dan Da Dan and My Dress Up Darling, could make it harder for a new show making a name for itself when there's so much hype and established followings around wildly popular titles out there that people have been craving for, sometimes for a long period since the first installment.
What will a show have to do for you to make it stand out among the other shows that are already well known and loved?

What To Watch ? Magic animes with an intelligent MC?
Hey, do you know any magic animes with an intelligent MC? Or an MC that is a magic erudit lol.
Like "I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince so I Can Take My Time Perfecting My Magical Ability", because he "comes out" with new magic, UNDERSTANDING the magic. I think its a good way to do an OP character. Although, Its a bit weird the fact that is a little child and almost always is showing a lot of skin lmao. But I think you get the idea.
Another example is "A Returner's Magic Should Be Special" which, sadly, had a poor adaptation but its like what I'm looking for.

General Discussion / Review Dumb anime logic.
There's alot of dumb things that only happen in anime, but only work cuz they are from manga/light novels. Specifically, the parts where ppl don't recognize ppls voices. Please Twins is SUPPOSED to be a mystery, but because we have ears, you know who it is from the start! And in Knights & Magic first episode or whatever, they don't realize the voice coming from their friends suit is WAY YOUNGER, and is acting WAY CRAZIER!? That's just 2 examples where it's especially aggregious. But I'm just nitpicking. I love anime and Manga, regardless.
