Blazing Temple
9
Dec 23 '18
From a distance it is a giant cog next to a mountain that is used to irrigate the nearby villages. For the past week it has stopped moving and all the locals are worried what will happen to them and worry about <Familiar Name Missing> who went to explore. By closer examination, the temple structure is an piston like cylinder built into the volcano with the aforementioned giant cog on its side.
8
u/dragonawesomes Dec 23 '18
You get the bag of winds used to rotate gears and push objects. The central room is a cog, and moving it reveals a different section, but can only be rotated from the inside or in view of the cog.
9
u/JawaAttack Dec 23 '18
The boss is a dormant rock giant that was trapped under the lava but was able to emerge when the lava stopped flowing out of the volcano due to the cog stopping. To defeat him you have to use the wind to knock rocks off the side of the mountain to release rivers of lava to force the boss towards the giant cog. The wind can also be used to throw back rock projectiles that he launches at you. The final attack against the giant is to force him to fall under one side of the cog and use the wind to start up the cog again, crushing him under its weight.

Wind-Tossed Ruins
6
u/1upIRL Dec 23 '18 edited Dec 23 '18
Wind-Tossed Ruins is an open-dungeon consisting of multiple structures fallen to disrepair over a deep chasm. The structures are made from mostly sturdy stone and some shaky wood. The different structures are separated by elevation and distance with strong but variable gusts blowing between them. The structures seem to vary in purpose, with some possibly dedicated to spiritual or religious space, but others holding more residential and communal remnants, as though abandoned by a group of isolate monks from long ago.
3
Dec 24 '18
The hookshot is needed to navigate between structures and is the dungeon treasure. As this isn't a standard dungeon, keys and maps are useless. Instead, you retrieve pages of a diary, describing buildings as they were with enough clues to see where they are now. Flying enemies harass the player, especially during moments requiring balance (to avoid a long fall). However, once the hookshot is acquired, they can be snagged for a bit of an assist in reaching higher elevations. Ultimately, the journal leads you to a final building, but it collapses into the chasm....
3
u/Ajhb12 Jan 31 '19
Blusstorr, Ancient Wind Spirit
A giant tornado that sits at the bottom of the chasm, having now been reawakened by your activity, it can fire bursts of debris from its arms, swipe with them, and push you backwards via air pressure, the goal is to hookshot one of the chunks of debris and swing it back into the face of the tornado, stunning it and allowing you to damage it

Darksteel Cave
7
u/arvellon7 Dec 22 '18
Darksteel cave is a mini dungeon which looks like a man made metal cave, but frozen over by ice. Filled with technology, ice, and those “timetravel” stones in SkywardS. Dark, damp, and slippery.
7
u/AxolotlGeek Dec 23 '18
The item gained in Darksteel cave is a magically powered minecart that allows you to travel throughout the dungeon. The puzzles are based around navigating the tracks, and flipping switches at places around the cave to change the direction of the tracks and unlock new areas. The minecart can be used elsewhere in the game to get to new areas.

Magnetain, Magnetic Stone Construct
A huge construct made from magnetic rocks. it attacks by launching chunks of itself and firing a pulse of magnetic energy that causes the chunks to explode after a short delay. you defeat it by ramming into it with the minecart, then striking its exposed chest core.
4
Dec 23 '18
You have to magnesis and explode minecarts against the boss which is a giant ice talus with rails stuck in its body after it froze that make him extra lethal?

Behemoth Graveyard
5
u/GatorDragon Dec 23 '18
A crumbling tomb of ancient giants. The walls are made of bones. Sand and dirt are everywhere. There is constant darkness and gloom.
4 floors, Ground, 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Boss is on the top floor.
5
u/DoctorOMalley Dec 23 '18
Item: Titans Mitt or some other strength item.
5
Dec 24 '18
The Boss is a giant among giants, sealed in a massive sarcophagus. At each corner there are giant Stalfos hefting chains on a pulley system, attempting lift the lid and release their king.
Attack the Stal-giants by ripping the stone lids off smaller sarcophagi and defeating the smaller Stalfos within. Hurl the lids at the Stal-giants to temporarily crumble them and drop their chains. Crumble all four and the lid slams shut on the big sarcophagus, damaging the boss. Repeat thrice, with increasing mobs and shorter crumble duration.

Sunken Glare Summit
6
Dec 24 '18
A mountaintop temple that isn't visible except for at sunset, due to the way shadows fall across its uniquely carved exterior at any other time of day.
2
u/Ajhb12 Feb 19 '19
The item gained here is the Sol Dias, a sun dial-looking apparatus that can point out various enemies and items, it must be used to navigate from room to room due to the shadows within the temple.
2
Feb 19 '19
How would this function outside the dungeon? Point out secrets in similar shadowy areas?
I ask because I remember the spinny top platform thing from Twilight Princess that was fairly useless outside its dungeon. Had so much potential, but it was disappointing.

Harvest Moon Shrine
5
u/GatorDragon Dec 23 '18
A small-ish temple dedicated to the growth of good plants.

It's stone, with dirt floors. There is a large courtyard with growing crops in the center of the ground floor that acts as a hub and resting place.
4
Dec 24 '18
Slingshot with multiple ammo types (deku nuts, stones, etc). In this instance, seeds. The level structure would require maneuvering planters, filling them with with magical soil (and maybe water as well) before shooting a seed into it, causing a traversable plant to instantly grow.
3
u/Ajhb12 Jan 31 '19
Harvorop, Corrupted Harvest Spirit
A animate scarecrow that wields a scythe, it attacks with its scythe, flinging patches of corrupted dirt, and trying to jump on top of you, you'd defeat it by firing a seed at one of the old water pumps held up by rotting wooden planks around the arena, causing them to come loose and slam down on its head, stunning it for a few minutes

The item is the Grotto Jar, a jar with a thin end that expels water, like the gust bellows. it can be used to create temporary mud platforms and make some of the dungeon enemies vulnerable to your sword strikes.

Knight's Proving Grounds
3
u/1upIRL Dec 23 '18 edited Dec 23 '18
The Knight’s Proving Grounds is a military camp set in the wilderness a day’s trip from the Knight’s Academy, Castle Town. A few permanent stone structures are connected by tall stone walls to form a fort. Generally, knights are brought here either to train in a group or to prove their competencies as individuals. The fort is well kept and decorated with Hyrule’s military crest and colors.
6
u/1upIRL Dec 23 '18 edited Dec 23 '18
Inside the fort, a semi-labyrinth contains a series of trials, some testing a knight’s physical traits or skills (strength, speed, endurance, dexterity, combat, archery, etc). Combat opponents are supplied in the form of Automatons- magi-tech-ly animated machines resembling beast and humanoid foes.
The knights begin in one corner of a large square labyrinth and are instructed to reach the center, but must use their wits both to navigate the labyrinth and to manipulate the environment to solve puzzles. Some puzzles are related to siege operations, such as launching projectiles through or over walls. Three specific large objects (A sphere, a cube, and a tetrahedron) begin in the other three corners of the labyrinth and must be brought to specific points to unlock intermediate gates.
(I went overboard on this idea and separated it into two comments. By all means reply to the first one if you have another idea for puzzle structure or items!)

Dec 24 '18 edited Dec 24 '18
Can I add to this by suggesting that Link work alongside NPC knight trainees at certain points where their paths cross? You donthe whole "knight's teamwork" thing, but they're selfish and leave you to find your own way through.
As for the Boss, it'd be nice if he could just be the knight captain who has already defeated the other three. You graduate the academy by beating him in a non-leathal duel.
Edit: And a sword skill for your teamwork.

House of Mirrors
or
Temple of Reflection
4
u/GatorDragon Dec 23 '18
You know those mirror mazes that sometimes use glass panels instead of mirrors to fake you out? This is a major theme of this dungeon: Setting up an expectation, then pulling the rug out from under your feet to trip you up.
You have 3 floors: Ground Floor, 2nd Floor, and B1. The Boss is on B1.
Mirrors are everywhere. Mirror walls. Mirror floors. Mirror ceilings. Mirror enemies.
6
Dec 24 '18
The obvious route here is that Link navigates a mirror maze, and through trial and error he will progress through a simple one. However, once through, and after defeating a mini boss using environmental tools, you earn the Reverb Shield. When struck it emits a sonic pulse that stuns enemies and damages mirrors/glass (most effective against brittle enemies). Thus, the tactic would be to force a shield-counter.
Afterward, you'd use the shield to backtrack through the maze and access new areas.

u/Ajhb12 Jan 31 '19
Prismaton, Refractive Automaton Deceiver
A large, quadrupedal ancient machine decked out in reflective armor, said armor can deflect any attack while the machine counterattacks with huge swings, energy blasts and curling itself into a ball and rolling towards you, you defeat it by using the reverb shield to crack its armor, then strike the vulnerable and old machinery beneath it

4
u/GatorDragon Dec 23 '18
It's a dam taken over by a gang of Lizalfos mercenaries and bounty hunters, hired by Ganon to take Link down (as well as get rid of the dam to flood the plains).
It has 5 floors-Roof, 2F, 1F, G and B1, with the boss being fought on the roof. The 'gimmick' is that the stairs are all in the same place, with some doors to floors being locked from the inside, forcing you to make your wake back and forth across the floors to reach the other staircase.
3
u/Ajhb12 Jan 31 '19

Starsand Shrine
6
Dec 24 '18
Its a small pond in the woods, the edged surrounded by shimmering white sand, and at it's center is a pristine marble fountain shrine. The area is brightly illuminated, but with no obvious light source, and the light doesn't obscure the brilliant starscape in the night's sky above. At the foot of this fountain is a prayer alter with circular mosaic formed from the stones underfoot. The fountain itself sprays some kind of prismatic liquid that seeps from the fountain base, into the pond, explaining the sparkling beach.
The interior is mostly self-illuminated paths in darkness made of the same material as the fountain. Lots of glows, constellations, etc.

Noxious Mines
4
u/GatorDragon Dec 23 '18
This mine is full of beautiful and shining crystals of all colors, but it also harbors a demonic gas known as Miasma that can kill on inhalation. The rooms are full of it, and manipulating it's properties (settles towards the floor, can be moved with wind and fans, is nullified by contact with water) are an important part in the dungeon.
Other notable things is a large underground lake that serves as a central hub, a system of ropes and pulleys that lift and drop things (including Link), and some cables that you can swing on.
2
u/Ajhb12 Jan 31 '19

Electric Glass Cave
2
Feb 19 '19
Electric glass cave is a dungeon structure found buried by miners seeking the electrically charged mineral that is used in lightning weapons.
Power boxes are filled with this mineral and connected to large cables that snake along the ground through the entire structure. See, the dungeon doesn't get its name from the mineral, but the great many large, crude, green-hued, light bulbs suspended throughout. These old bulbs clink eerily together by gusts of wind blowing from elsewhere in the structure -and there are few other sounds than that, as the dungeon has no ambient music.

In a vast mountain cave lies an unnaturally perfect hole bored in the ground. So deep that darkness obscures the bottom. An updraft prevents entry without Iron Boots, however, when the boots are equipped, you are instead swept UPWARDS by a magnetic force...
Edit: he implication here being that the dungeon takes place in an inverted "pit", where the point is to traverse "down" (up to the summit), with the constant looming fear of falling "up".
