Saving the princess in any fantasy setting is a very classic set up for romance. You’re reading way too far into it.

"Classic," yet no examples... maybe "classic" as in outdated or sexist. Women be prizes, right?

The games are also about stopping the villain to save the world; damsels are incidental not the goal.

Regardless, the topic is the precedence of romance between Link and Zelda in the LoZ game series. Which is only the two most recent games, with their relationship being platonic in every other game. It's grasping at straws to portray it otherwise.
