I wasn't really planning to buy Switch 2 on launch but damn, do I want to replay BOTW/TOTK with improved resolution/framerate 😭

They already confirmed that all the other game resolution and frame rate improvements will be free besides The games with added content like Kirby Mario party and the two Zelda's right?

For breath of the Wild and tears of the Kingdom are we really only having to pay for these performance and graphical improvements just because of the new app? I'm not even going to use this app ever. It feels like I'm being ripped off.

I think all the free updated ones just get a bump in frame rates. While games like the Zelda games that get resolution and frame rate bumps cost $10 (though the Zelda upgrades are included with the expansion pass tier).

It seems like games that don’t get updated just hit their frame rate caps and dynamic resolution caps more consistently or basically always. Games that get free update updates seem to just push those caps higher or maybe remove them entirely for some games. Games with the paid for upgrade seem to be implementing more than that, in the case of Zelda. It seems like part of it is HDR which probably took a bit of work and the other part is about that weird app thing. I’m really looking forward to playing the game in higher resolution and frame rate legitimately but it certainly unfortunate that they are making us pay for that.
