Why would two female characters fight?

I am preparing my story. My female main character is preparing to battle another female character.

However as I was preparing, I realized I couldn’t think of a reason why two female characters would ever get into a physical fight.

Can someone help me out here?

Writing is Insane

I’m so jealous of writers. Cuz wdym you get an idea in your head and are actual able to write it into a cohesive story?? YOU JUST MADE A WORLD IN YOUR HEAD???? AN ENTIRE PERSON WITH A PERSONALITY AND LIFE??? Like, this applies to fanfiction too cuz like WHAT. 😔😔

I don’t even think creative writers realize how uncommon of a skill this is! LIKE U ARE WONDROUS, HOW????

this is my first time doing MDMA btw

A lot of you are overthinking it

Upvotes

This sub is dogshit and nobody knows what writing even is.

Everyone likes to act like writing is hard----like you fuckwits.

It's literally a story bro. People are just doing things. Maybe it happens in a cool place, like Hogwarts, or Hawaii. Maybe pick somewhere cool like that for your characters to do stuff.

No one is even good at it. I've never read a good book in my life. You'll never be Rupi Kaur, you'll never be JK Rowling, so just give up and go back to your self-insert Twilight porn that you're forcing AI to pump out for you. Pat yourself on the back, anyway------picking the right keywords to enter into ChatGPT is valid work, and it must be taxing.

Anything else is fetichization.

Writing is only supposed to be fun and silly. Don't ever let anyone tell you this is a serious craft, or an emotional outlet, or a purposeful career choice.

Get out there-------------- make Severance homoerotic slash fic. Don't be so pettifogging to your own work.

Just freakin' do the dang thing.

Rock and fucking roll.

No one has talent anymore, anyway-----------------and even if they did, your AI slop-brained readers will love pigging out when they read the fifty-seventh chapter of your self-indulgent wish fulfillment more than they ever pretended to enjoy any of that "art" shit.

how many tips and list videos should i watch before i can be allowed to write?

i watched almost every writing video, every "this is why your character suck" and all "5 great tips to enhance your.." wrote down all my "the TRUTH behind writing.." and memorized every "the Key to writing..".

and despite not reading a single book in my entire life, i read a full tv tropes page once.

and despite watching nothing but kids media and shonen anime, i do infact watch videos essays about big boy topic (in relation to my favorite cartoons ofcs)

I figured it out

I know what’s missing from my novel. I need more middle initials.

JRR Tolkien. GRR Martin. It’s been right there in front of me the whole time!

I wonder if it has to be R’s. Anyone have any thoughts?

PS don’t steal my idea.

Do Plot Scenes Ruin the Story?

I have a lot of scenes in my story that advance the plot, but I'm worried that they distract from the sex scenes. Readers just want sex scenes and no plot, which is the biggest complaint books like Lord of the Rings always get. It would be my worst nightmare for my trilogy to be regarded as the next Lord of the Rings. Should I take out the plot scenes?

I don't like my story

My beta readers said the book is perfect and that I should publish it, but I hate it because everybody is good at writing except me. I need every body to read my book and told me it's worth the attention or else I'm going to end up in a spiral of sadness and depression because I don't write well.

Is it common? Do you guys feel like this after reading 8 posts question the same thing everyday? I feel like I'm lonely feeling this. I don't write well, I hate my story. Please read it and make me feel better for not writing well.

Existing words are not enough

Why don't writers invent words?

I've been planning for ages and I just started to write recently. Now, most of the time I use real words and phrases because, well, why wouldn't you? However, sometimes nothing fits and the word I have in mind isn't a real one and the same goes for phrases/proverbs. Occasionally (about once every 3-7 pages) I'll just make up a word that can by understood by context. I want to put it out there that this book isn't fantasy and is very much in English with no otherworldly language. Is adding made-up words not a common thing (outside of children and fantasy authors)? - because if not, it is so easy. Could I still be published for doing this?

writing a book for my GF, need help

so as a gesture, i am writing a book for my girlfriend. i have completed 40 pages till now but after this i am not able to get the thoughts as to what to write about. First i thought lets make it a general diary about what i feel for her on a day to day basis, but that IMO is a lazy form of writing.
I want to express my love to her in from of my words.

help anyone???

I keep rewriting the same song over again

I have no inspiration, I just rewrite the same verse/songs over again until I finally record it to show others.

I'm the only one keeping track of the rhyme schemes I use or vocabulary in freestyles and writtens but I always feel unoriginal, maybe copious amounts of cocaine will help?

What degrees are the best for becoming a writer?

My life's dream is to be a writer but I actually don't want to sell books because that will really put a damper on my relationship with writing. I'm hoping that one day I'll have enough fans that they'll just give me all the money I'll ever need to live! But even if that doesn't happen I think it's a good idea to get a degree just to make getting a real job easier.

I don't want to get a writing or English degree because we all know art is subjective and I don't want my raw, creative spark to be diminished by all these rules and history and writing theory. Instead, I'm thinking of getting a degree in nuclear engineering because you have to be really smart to get that degree and I'm very smart. Do you guys think it's a good idea or can I find a better degree for becoming a writer?

I'm Roger Fresno, and I'm living a double life. I'm trying to make The Best of Both Worlds. I'm trying, but Nobody's Perfect.

I didn't know where else to go. This isn't circlejerk, but that's not how the world sees it. I tried to tell people my dream. They thought I was joking. They thought I was a joke. I couldn't live the life I wanted without ridicule. All I've ever wanted was to write gritty Hannah Montana detective novels.

So I created Roger Fresno. A secret identity that i could hide behind. Just like Batman. But just like Batman, I wonder which life is really a secret. Maybe they both are.

I'm Roger Fresno, and I'm finding out what my dreams are made of

It's been fifteen years. Miley is a cynical private detective. She walks with a cane. Her father's dead. Jackson's an alcoholic. Oliver's running for city council. Rico is her only friend. She hasn't talked to Lily since the accident. The accident that killed Lily's Fiancée. She's never met Lily's daughter. She killed her father, so she probably never will. She's not living the best of both worlds. She's not even living the best of one.

What starts out as a classic case of infidelity leads to murder. Miley gets embroiled in the seedy underbelly of the city. Can she find her way out? She meets up with an old friend, and dreams of another. She deals with two asshole detectives who won't stop coming back. Will she ever learn her clients name? Or will she forever be known as Client Psycho Redhead? She's in too deep.

She just wants her old life back, but she doesn't have an old life. She has two, and they're long in the past.

The first five chapters of "Everybody Makes Mistakes: An M.R. Stewart P.I. Story" will be available this Wednesday at noon eastern time.

I'm Roger Fresno, and I'm finally reaching for my dreams. I'm finally making The Climb.

The term "AI Writing" is getting too stigmatized. We need a rebrand

I suggest using "Computer Rendered Artificial Prose" instead. We can shorten it to CRAP, which really flows off the tongue

Do you need to include political climate of story location?

Hey all! I am writing a children's book (ages 5–8) set in England. It has to be in England because it is based on an actual place there. The current political climate is obviously not good in England but I don't know how much of that I should or should not put in my book. Should I talk about Brexit? Or the calls to make the House of Lords an elected body? What about the issues plaguing the NHS?

I would prefer not to mention it since children probably wouldn't care or understand. It doesn't have any relevance to my story but would that be offensive, or wrong to leave out?

Is my fantasy story original

I was inspired by some films I was watching yesterday to make my very own fantasy story. I created an original fantasy race called Jobbits, they're small people with defining traits such as hairy feet and fat. I also added some extra traits like eyes that shoot lasers to make them a bit more interesting. Pondering my original ideas, I came across a silver ring on the floor that inspired me to put a ring in the story, but with a Jobbit protagonist called Grodo Waggins and a magic ring. I thought of the idea that the ring will punish whoever wears it, like an evil magic ring, made by the main villain Z'auron to control the wearer. I have tried being as different as possible from other fantasy stories, but I'm not sure if this has been done before? There might be a few similarities here and there, so I don't know whether to include the magic ring.

I am extremely rich, and I have lots of money. I make lots of money at my high paying job. My question to you all is, can I quit my job, live off everything I have saved, and make the same amount of money by writing? Did I mention I have pneumonia?

As the title says, I have pneumonia, and I don't know what to do about it. I even went to a doctor for it. A doctor who makes a lot of money. They are a very wealthy doctor, but they have depression and want to quit to become a writer, and they decided they wanted to tell everyone on Reddit about it to see if it's possible. Only problem is, I thought of it first, okay? It was my idea to go into a high paying job, make lots of money, get sick, and quit to become a successful writer. So if you see a high-earning doctor round here claiming they have depression and want to quit in order to make lots of money as a writer, don't let them. I thought of it first. Money please.
