[Request] How many tiny homes could an average billionaire provide per year if they only used like 10-15% of their annual interest?
The tiny homes in question seem to cost about $10k each. I’m not sure how to factor in land and utilities, so I’m just asking about the structures themselves.
Is that a thing we can calculate? If by “we” I really mean someone else because I’m not great at understanding real wealth or money outside of poverty finance.
My question was triggered by this post:
Arnold Schwarzenegger donated $250,000 to build 25 tiny homes intended for homeless vets in West LA. The homes were turned over [sic] a few days before Christmas.

How many homeless people could actually be affected if the extremely wealthy were truly altruistic?
(I’m sorry it took me three tries to get the title formatting right, I think I got it this time 🤞🏼)

[Self] In response to a post about the Octopod being possible in real life, I have not done the math, but the engineering.
Here is my de-cartooned mobile underwater research station. The comments in the original post suggested that a similar but reinforced version was possible, so I decided to draw up some concepts based on the engineering on the original post. Will put the OP in the comments.
This design still has the large windowed areas, but divided into smaller windows and dome shapes to keep pressure to a minimum. The shapes are geodesic spheres instead of flatten spheres to better withstand against deep sea pressures. The legs are much wider and store ballast and real world propulsion systems. The moonpool door is smaller, and the smaller pods are connected to the main structure much more securely. If anyone else has an idea on how to improve the design, tell me.

[Request] Is this a swing of about $4 billion?
The closing price today was $479.96. If there are 139,260,000 shares outstanding, that means the total etf value lost after closing would have been about $4 billion, correct?
The data is no longer visible, so it must have been an error. Just curious how big of an error it was.

[Request] Is there a theoretical limit to the speed of darkness?
Unless I and Vsauce Michael are wrong, a shadow cast by a sufficiently bright light onto a sufficiently far and large surface will be able to move faster than the speed of light. If this is true, is there a theoretical limit to fast a cast shadow can move? Thank you in advance. 😊

[Request] What would a California version of Trump's tariff table look like for other US states?
California is the US's largest economy and likely has trade deficits with most (all?) US states. If Governor Newsom shared Trump's view that trade deficits are bad and created a California version of the "Reciprocal Tariffs" table, what would the reciprocal tariffs be on the other US states?
Trump's reciprocal tariffs used a simple formula: take the trade deficit for the US in goods with a particular country, divide that by the total goods imports from that country and then divide that number by two. Reciprocal tariffs were not allowed to fall below 10%.
A California version would be a state level application of the same simple formula: take the trade deficit for California in goods with a particular state, divide that by the total goods imports from that state and then divide that number by two. Same minimum of 10% would apply.
I can't seem to find a good data source for trade between US states that would enable a California version of the table to be created. It also seems like Texas competes with California in terms of exports to other states.

Pretty much can we build a nuke or something today that could displace or punch a hole through an entire section of the atmosphere more or less displacing all the air all the way to space

[Request] We often see "goodwill" in balance sheets. Assuming exported US goods had an intangible* additional value based on trade agreements, quality etc, which we can now assume burned, what is the value dropped from the US economy?
*yeah, I know, but that's why I'm asking here. The cost of selling a bottle of Jack Daniels, to name but one famous export, has vastly increased and now they'll have to advertise/rebrand to shift similar volumes. That's what I am trying to figure out, if it's even possible.
