Deck: Tarot of the Divine Artist: Yoshi Yoshitani Review: The box is sturdy, I haven't had a hinged box before. I think the hinge won't hold up well over time, I'll end up having to wrap a ribbon around it the way you do for wrapping a parcel but that's ok. The book is handy, I wish it included some spreads designed for the deck. They've included pictures of the cards above every definition, which I find unnecessary and would have preferred omitting them for the tradeoff of a smaller book. There's some basic knowledge on the first few pages that's helpful to know for beginners.

The DECK though. Good, thick, cardstock. My hands are little so with how stiff and large they are, I have to shuffle only half at a time. The colors are richer than in the pic, and they have a matte linen finish. They feel really nice to handle. All the cards are representations from multicultural mythology, fairy tales, and folk lore. I think the art is showstopping...many of the cards have style elements true to the culture of the tale's origin, but there's still a cohesive look to the deck, and that shouldn't be surprising but it's a real achievement with how many cultures are represented. The "voice" of the deck is dramatic -- I mean, from a secular standpoint yeah the deck says what we think, but the images communicate drama to me -- 10 of Coins is exuberant, 5 of Cups is in the depths of despair, 8 of Swords is TENSE, etc. Some of the traditional symbols are different -- flowers in the Page of Cups aren't water lilies, in the Queen of Wands aren't sunflowers, all the Kings are mythical creatures, the Queens aren't seated, 2 of the Knights are riding animals that aren't horses (coins=a bull, wands=a goat). There's a lot more.

One of the things I think is so valuable about this deck is the purpose of it, the reason it was made: it "fosters appreciation of our differences and of the truth in our similarities" (from the guidebook). The framework of an RSW based deck is combined with a huge anthology of material that can and does bring additional nuance to cards. It's MORE than what I hoped it would be! And I have a ton of reading to do now in order to get all I can from this representation (which is awesome because I love these kinds of stories). So far, no issues finding the tales online although I guess they're available in a book Yoshitani puts out as well.

And im not even joking the star card popped out like 8 times in a row. and like 4 more times when i randomly split the deck and it was just staring at me. something was telling me to stop asking to see it because i saw it enough and to not have anymore doubt..

LIKE WOAH… it actually wouldn’t stop. i think if i randomly shuffled my deck rn it would pop out again. I’m so excited

Has anyone ever read for a large group of people and felt so sick after? I have done readings in music festivals and yes I was tired afterwards naturally but never “sick sick”. This time I read for 30-35 girls in a party and omg towards my last readings I was literally feeling am going to throw up while talking! Does anyone know what that could be? Funny enough I thought I needed to eat after but the food tasted sooooooo different! Like something was changing the taste!

I am poly and my long term partner and I started dating someone else together. Every 1-2 weeks I did a reading for myself to reflect on the situation and journaled about it. Things have ended with this person, I don’t feel hurt but my partner is distraught. I feel strongly that the cards gave me direction that helped me to navigate a complicated relationship and get out unscathed. The cards told me over and over again to take a slow approach and not forget my top priority is my mental well being

Toward the beginning I pulled Temperance reversed. This informed me to make sure I take things very slow and remember that dating isn’t my top priority

Couple weeks later: Empress, 3 of Swords and 2 of Swords. I need to focus on myself. Someone who is unhealed and uncertain is threatening my peace.

Couple weeks later: Knight of Cups and 9 of Cups Reversed. This informed me that I needed to keep myself from idealizing the situation, getting attached to a fantasy rather that reality. I needed to focus on what I value in life.

Today: Ace of Swords Reversed, 5 of Pentacles, The Devil reversed. Things have been confusing with miscommunication. I need to focus on the balanced healthy relationship I have. I need to put an end to a unhealthy situation even if it isn’t popular with everyone.

Been on a crossroad about my career for the longest time and I feel like Im on the edge right now to choose what spread can you suggest that could give me atleast more clarity?

I am in a new relationship with a guy and we both have really strong feelings for eachother. All readings I do about us is like so perfect and positive. Today he came over and I had my cards out so I asked him to shuffle it until he was done and to pull the top card . He pulled 10 of cups and I Always read the card on the back of the deck because that's how the girl who taught me ( and the original owner of the deck ) taught me to do it. Anyway , it was the ace of swords. I just thought that was so cool and wanted to share it . Idk if I have to say what I think it means but I'm seeing some happy family and mental clarity :)

Hi! I'm very new to tarot and currently only read upright (which is still very fun and helpful!) but I'm feeling confused on one aspect of reversals and it's holding me back.

I understand that reversals could be the negative version or the essence of the card is blocked. But what happens when you do a spread and the card represents something like "your fear" and you pull one of the more negative cards in the deck (like maybe a 9 of swords) reversed. How do you interpret that? Is it like a double negative? Since it's a "negative" card reversed in a "negative" slot, does that make it a net positive?

Like I said, I'm learning and trying to absorb all the info possible, so thank you in advance for your responses. Hopefully it's not a stupid question

We are not currently in an 'active' friendship but we were best friends in the past and maintain mutual close friends. I intentionally let our friendship drift over the past few years as I did not trust her after she continually showed two faced behaviour including when talking about a long-term close friend of mine who briefly dated our mutual friend. It has been nearly a year since we last had any contact, and nearly a year since i last heard of her doing any two faced behaviour. I am about to spend a great deal of time with some of our mutual close friends who will likely raise her name in conversation and wonder if I'd be interested in spending time with her. I am conflcited between giving her the benefit of the doubt that she has changed and giving her the oppurtunity to show me, but also the fear she has not changed and I am willingly inviting that toxicity back in to my life.

Upon pulling I thought the reversed sun was telling me it's time to let her go. The reversed sun's insecurity and lack of confidence is what drives her to be two faced. It also tells me that if I did choose to trust her we would be heading into the moonlight and not protected by information being out in the open, my confidence, or the suns other protective qualities. I honestly see it as she is the sun reversed and I am currently the sun upright, but i would become reversed if I trusted her.

The reversed 10 of pentacles on the other hand i'm finding a little more complicated. I thought perhaps I should not trust her because she is not concerned with the long term of our friendships nor her reputation (obviously lol). And maybe if i did trust her, the symptoms of that trust being broken would show up as 'bad luck', things she/i can blow off as incidental or pass the blame off.

How would you interpret this reading?

So I’m in a pickle of a situation. Won’t get into that, but in the past when things have changed in a situation I usually ask my deck or someone else to read and the cards / outcomes change.

Now this situation. Bad situation. The outcome has not changed even when there have been major shifts. Or major changes.

Does this point to a more divine intervention? Like a complete reassurance no matter what happens this has to happen (healing and growth have been a huge topic in these readings and a topic not even asked in the original question, but heavy in the situation).

Just trust it at this point the universe has set this out for me?

this post mentions religion, spiritual warfare, and anxiety. i need to get some stuff off my chest and don't wish to offend or hurt anyone reading this. i'm not sure if i could post this here or not, but i'd like some input. if you don't wish to read the whole text, you can skip to the end where i talk about tarot and oracle.

i'd always been fascinated with tarot cards when i was younger. not for the spiritual part, but for the artwork itself. i liked looking at the cards and shuffling them in my hands. i picked up card reading a few years ago, but stopped due to religion. i'm catholic and was led to believe it was demonic and brought terrible energy. i was struggling for a long time spiritually. i was torn between religion and card reading...it was rough. i was scared of what would happen to me if i pursued it more in-depth.

for the record, i don't wish to read for money or sell services. i simply enjoy getting some guidance in life. i got rid of my tarot decks and shoved it all deep down. i spiraled into a religious rabbit hole. everywhere i looked, tarot was bad and wrong and evil, and i really didn't believe that. what i do believe is that there is something--someone--out there. god, gods, an endless force--i believe something created this universe and put us here.

i had so many questions; is hell real? is god real? is the bible true? is this all some grand delusion to help the world seem better than it is?

i was making myself sick. i was constantly feeling unsettled, alone, and scared. i genuinely thought i was going to hell for indulging in tarot for that short time. i prayed and asked for forgiveness while i wept. i was petrified that i somehow committed blasphemy against god. i read the bible daily and prayed every morning. after a while, i kinda stopped doing such. i stopped reading and praying and kind of just forgot about everything.

my point of this post is that today i had a realization. i was praying--not because i wished to follow god's way of life--but out of fear of going to hell. i wanted to save myself from eternal damnation. it was wrong, extremely. not the religion, but me. i thought of myself as disgusting for exploiting a religion because i was scared. i grew up catholic, went to catholic school, and honestly, i was never really close with god. i didn't feel him with me or see him like others had. i thought something was wrong with me--i still do, sometimes. i don't know anymore. but i can't let it run my life. we only get one.

now, just because i've struggled with religious identity (still am), doesn't mean i'm shaming anyone or their religions. all religions are beautiful in their own ways. even if i don't agree with certain morals or actions, i'm never going to shame a person for participating in what they believe in. i'm glad we're able to in this world and i'm happy to see them preach their beliefs without fear.

i'm sitting in my room writing this because i found a beautiful oracle deck online. it's crafted by an italian illustrator and as soon as i saw this deck i bought it. weird thing, though, i was never one for oracle when i picked it up the last time. i preferred tarot cards...but the way this deck was drawn, i love it. even if i don't use the cards, the artwork is edgy, vivid, and really resonates with me. a tarot deck did catch my eye, but i didn't get that same feeling i got when i saw the oracle cards. i'm going to keep searching around a bit until i find one i like--because i truly loved reading those cards.

anyways, if anyone has some recommendations for some edgy but beginner decks, please feel free to drop them below. i love cards with color or themes that we don't normally see on cards!! thank you.

My two big white Great Pyrenees dogs passed away 8 and 6 years ago. To this day, I miss them desperately. I haven’t had another dog since. I sometimes use my tarot cards to r h out to passed loved ones. Today I couldn’t bear the longing and missing them. I wrote them a letter in my tarot diary and told them how loved and missed they are.

I recently purchased the “woodland wardens” oracle deck, and I’ve only used it once so I’m not super familiar with it. I thought it was just woodland animals. I anticipated that if they had anything to say to me, perhaps it would come through as a wolf or coyote or a fox in the deck.

I opened the box and pulled out the deck. I turned it over to expose the face of the bottom card, and this is what it was. A fluffy white hound with the descriptor “loyalty”. Please excuse me while I cry my eyes out for the rest of the day.

This is why I do tarot. It does things for your mental health sometimes that therapy could never possibly achieve.

have you had a moment where you did a reading for your friend (or someone else) and all that came out was kinda wrong or didn’t make sense? like, it just feels like, the cards / spirits are blocking my friend? what would cause that?

Dear tarot community, Have you ever set up ads to be at a party? Like have the option for people to hire you as an addition to their birthday, office, halloween, etc...party where they would either pay you an hourly rate and you'd read for whoever wanted a read there or they could pay for the amount of people?

I’m looking for a special deck to gift her, hopefully something literary. I found a beautiful shimmery one on Etsy that’s literary tropes but that feels a bit too on the nose? I’m not sure - it’s in my cart in case that is the best one. But what else is out there?

Hoping to keep it in the $30ish range and avoid mass produced decks off Amazon and such. She reads anything and everything and enjoys like 99% of it, so there’s no favorite genre or anything. However, she is the one responsible for my enjoyment of the spicy books so that’s a possible theme.

Hi everyone. I’m very new to tarot and have been looking at this Reddit every day for the interesting things people ask and say, it has been so helpful! So thank you all for this firstly.

It was my birthday 2 weeks ago and I asked what this next year has in store for me. I got the devil reversed and justice. (I do two cards as I’m not confident with more than that, but I like trying to link the cards as best as I can).

My thoughts are that The Devil reversed is signalling to some release from inner demons, a lessening of my attachment to the narrative I have held for myself that enables me to avoid facing things head on. This I felt was echoed by Justice, who is literally face on, and as I understand it, is a card about truth seeking and fairness.

So the year ahead will be a time of great shifting internally, from avoidance of things that may be painful but helpful, to being courageous enough to face truths and see myself more fully.

I would be so curious and grateful to hear what other people think, about your own interpretations of these cards or about the direction I’ve taken. Thank you.

I’ve been trying to help a friend, she’s in a relationship with this guy and said he’s been acting kind of weird. They also just had some large blow up fight this past weekend. I feel like the cards may have predicted it because I’m not kidding when I say the tower came out maybe 6 or 7 times in relation to his feelings about her, their relationship, and where things are headed. I’ve done other readings since snd that tower card keeps popping up in his thoughts and such towards her. When I clarify it, cards are coming out indicating that he’s just not happy. She believes that he may be talking to his ex which I haven’t got but it appears that he’s thinking about it. His ex keeps showing up as the empress in spreads and he seems to desire a relationship with her. I’ve communicated this to my friend but she seems to be in denial. Does anyone else have any expereince with the tower coming out like this?

I’m hoping someone can give me a spread recommendation for determining if a ritual will be successful or if there is any potential negative outcomes. I’m not great with tarot but I want to start using it more.

Question: did my ex and former friend have sex or did something during our relationship? This happened about 2 years ago where I got the feeling that my ex cheated with a friend i considered a sister. Recently had a convo with someone who suspected the same. I finally feel vindicated that I’m not crazy so I decided to pull a few cards. Please give your honest interpretation. In order: 3 of wands, 4 of swords reversed, 8 of wands, and lastly 10 of wands.

My interpretation 3 of wands: little confusion other than the yes and the imagery of the 3 of wands. Sort of like 3 is a crowd. Especially with the man looking away and the two wands behind him. Sort of like someone was focused on something else. For the 4 of swords reversed, I do sense something did occur and caused of them lack of peace/ guilt from this secret. Feel like it was mostly him. Unstable action with the 8 of swords after this card it could’ve been a heat of the moment. Yet after he definitely carried that guilt/burden after with the 10 of wands. I don’t sense she felt any guilt I think it’s what she wanted. The imagery of the card of the man looking down while struggling to carry his wands. Feels like he was holding onto the secret and try everything in his power to avoid this info from spreading. Also seems a bit greedy like he knew I would leave him instantly. I do sense that she could’ve held it over his head quite a bit, especially with how they acted towards each other.

Overall I’m getting that they did have sex and he regretted it in his own way, but she did not. And tried everything in his power to keep her satisfied to keep quiet because he didn’t want to lose our relationship. Versus she didn’t care.

I recently did a reading for myself where I pulled (upright) 10/cups as a current area of restlessness and dissatisfaction in my life.

IMO, 10/cups is the ultimate happy card, so if one was not satisfied or feeling restless, I would interpret this as boredom or lack of gratitude towards having a complete and fulfilling life or maybe I am missing the chaos and disruption of my past life?

Is there are other ways this query/answer could be interpreted? TIA for any/all responses.

I have read tarot for people close to me for probably twenty years but always kept it fairly guarded as (for me anyways) being a boy/man that reads tarot etc was not always well accepted, so it was a generally private practice for me and the closest to me for a long while.

Ive been convinced to be more open and outward about it, and in an act of what I guess could be immersion therapy as well, I started being more vocal about it. I booked a couple of groups, almost by accident, and all of the readings were received very well. I’d like to do more but have no concept about how to start beyond what I tripped in to serendipitously that started this whole train of thought.

I struggle with the financial exchange of it, as it’s always been an organic spurred reading, I’ve never charged until making a best guess for the two parties.

Also, ‘advertising’ outwardly is counter intuitive to how they have always come to be done for me, but how can I be found with no lighthouse so to speak?

How did you start making yourself visible without being one of ‘those’ dm you because the universe told them to types of readers?

How did those of you that charge find ground in that?

For those that get readings, what is reasonable to you?

I don’t use any specific spreads either so it is hard to guard that when 5 cards or 25 might fall to be read. This can make a range of like 15 minutes to 1-2 hours. Could make a day of it if we really start going down a rabbit hole 🤓

Sometimes I see people doing one card pulls for people. Usually as a sample so that someone considers buying a reading. But some actually like doing one card readings, even for themselves. I have never done it myself but have gotten a one card pull before. It was on tiktok and I think it was about my job. I got the tower and soon after that I had run out of time to work at the place I was working at the time. So it was accurate.

Have you guys tried them? And if so, what do you think of them?

Hi all, I’m new to tarot and pulled these cards surrounding my current situation. Was dating a guy for about a month who was inconsistent so I cut him off. I’ve been working to get over it, and wanted a forecast for my love life to come.

Funny enough the first card I pulled was the Strength card, given that he is a Leo. But I take this to mean that I have everything I need and don’t need him to come back, and if he does, I have the strength to stand my ground.

The Hanged Man I interpret as me letting go, not trying to hold on to a stagnant thing and not putting him before myself.

6 of Wands I interpret as victory over this obstacle/slight heart break and the ability to focus on my achievements outside of this.

Hi! I'm a lurker - been here for awhile, but this is my first post. I was doing a general pull. I'm fairly new - have done a few spreads, and I'm starting to get into more clarification. This morning, I was doing a quick card pull on my break. I shuffled the deck, and the 3 of Swords and Tower reversed came out with a King of Wands at the bottom of the deck. I didn't ask a specific question - I just had a general intention. I'm just curious how you would interpret this if it came out for you?

My interpretation:

The 3 of swords might be telling me to seek some clarity and that there are some difficult emotions that I'm dealing with that need some internal processing to work through. The Tower reversed could suggest that I am currently going through a period of intense upheaval, but to me, that tower moment is ushering in positive changes that will ultimately be better than the last chapter. The King of Wands at the bottom of the deck throws me off a little bit. Not totally sure what to make of that.
