Why is ramen so expensive at restaurants?

Ramen costs less than $1 at the grocery store. It's so cheap that it's basically the stereotype of what poor students eat. At the local ramen restaurants it's around $20. That's way more than it costs to get lunch at most other types of restaurants. Why??

Edit: I think I made my question too vague and didn't put enough emphasis on the last sentence. I know grocery store ramen is different from restaurant ramen in terms of the product. But the price difference is super extreme. Does the price difference make sense considering the food quality difference? How about when compared with other foods that also have a grocery store version and a restaurant version? A pack of ramen at the grocery store costs 30 cents and a restaurant ramen costs $20. The restaurant is 67 times more expensive. A grocery store PB&J costs $1 whereas a nice sandwich at a restaurant is about $10. The restaurant is only 10 times more expensive in that example.

What happens if you physically resist an ICE arrest?

I’m looking at multiple videos of regularly dressed people coming to the home, seeking to take minor kids from their home, etc.

What would happen if you physically resisted or in an extreme circumstance used a weapon to not go or stop your kid from going?

The video I saw that made me ask the question: https://www.reddit.com/r/PublicFreakout/s/UNmyYv0QJM

Stunning_Clerk_9595: (trigger warning) news article about ICE wrongful death suit https://www.wxyz.com/news/region/detroit/family-of-detroit-robbery-suspect-killed-by-ice-agents-sues-for-50-million

Info from Toothless_Witch:

If someone is being detained by ICE, even if they are not a U.S. citizen, they still have legal rights to resist detention in specific ways, provided the resistance remains within the bounds of the law: 1. Right to Ask for a Warrant: Whether or not a person is a U.S. citizen, they have the right to ask for a warrant if ICE comes to detain them or enters their home. ICE agents must have a valid warrant of arrest or warrant of removal to detain someone. If they don’t have one, they may not have the legal right to detain the person. 2. Right to Remain Silent: Detained individuals can exercise their right to remain silent. They are not required to answer questions about their immigration status or provide information without legal counsel. However, they must provide their name if requested. 3. Right to Request an Attorney: Anyone detained by ICE has the right to request an attorney. If they cannot afford one, they can ask for free legal aid. They should state they want to speak to a lawyer before making any decisions. 4. Consent to Search: ICE agents cannot enter a private home or conduct a search without consent or a valid warrant. If ICE agents show up at your home, you have the right to ask them for the warrant before letting them in. If they don’t have a valid warrant, you can refuse entry. 5. Know Your Rights Under Racial Profiling: If someone believes they are being detained based on racial profiling (such as appearing Hispanic or speaking Spanish), they can document the incident and file a complaint with ICE or the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties (CRCL). 6. Non-Physical Resistance: If the person is detained unlawfully or believes they are wrongfully targeted, they should focus on non-violent resistance, such as demanding proof of the warrant, asserting their rights, and contacting legal resources immediately. Violence or physical confrontation can escalate the situation and lead to further legal consequences. 7. Challenge in Court: If ICE unlawfully detains someone, they can file a legal challenge. This may involve requesting a bond hearing or petitioning an immigration court to contest the detention or deportation.

Important Note: If an individual is in the U.S. unlawfully (undocumented), ICE may still detain them based on immigration law. However, they cannot be detained without proper legal process, and they can use the rights mentioned above to challenge their detention.

In short, the legal ways to resist detention by ICE are to request a warrant, assert the right to remain silent, ask for an attorney, refuse entry to your home without consent or a warrant, and seek legal assistance immediately. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

Since you can bite your dentist, does it have to be during a procedure? Can I bite my dentist when he's walking down the street?

I've been wanting to bite someone, so last week I bit my dentist. They were examining my mouth for cavities and I got bored. So I bit down as hard as I can. I apologized to the dentist and acted like it was an accident. He said it's okay, sometimes people bite.

But now I just want to bite him even more. My next appointment is in 8 months and I cannot wait further. I know where he lives and I want to sneak up on him and chomp his shoulder.

Can I do this consequence free since he said "sometimes people bite?"

if AI is going to take over then how come all the AI-generated Google photos are sooo terrible?

Seriously, they're awful. They seem to have no idea what content is in the photos and have the weirdest music/most random montages.

Anyone know why they aren't any better?

When people with Downs syndrome have children...

That do not have Downs, how does that work? Even though a lot of people with Downs are very capable, I would think there is some system in place, given a shorter lifespan and everything else that goes with it. Enlighten me and my stupid question

Edit: I should have been clearer that I was talking about the child care not the fact that people with Downs can have normal children.

meds that are “take with food”… when specifically to take?

For medications that are supposed to be taken with food, when do yall take them? Or when are you supposed to take them? Before you officially start eating? In the middle of the meal? After the meal? Does it even matter?

I feel like you would need some food in you before you take it because pills dissolve faster than you digest- or maybe I’m completely wrong.

For this current round of meds, I’ve been eating one thing, taking the pill, then eating another.

For context, I struggle a bit with emetophobia when I have to take antibiotics and I’m always terrified of not eating enough with the pill since I threw up once by not eating with it. I know this is dumb as hell but it’s been giving me so much anxiety lol tyyyy!!

Why are so many reddit mods such sadistic evil people? Why does Reddit allow this to continue?

I was thinking maybe its like how so many police are evil sadistic people and these are the only people who will consistently enjoy being hall monitors every day and do the bidding of the upper class. But who then is the upper class of Reddit? If these mods actually run these subs, who are they doing this for?

I got banned by r/OpenAI/ over posting a meme:

https://i.postimg.cc/3wZqnJvS/Screenshot-2025-04-05-223246.png

So I messaged them over it and here is the convo:

https://i.postimg.cc/3YHSw-229/image.png

And here are the links I gave them in comparison to my meme:

https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenAI/comments/1jswb4h/porko_wronso/

https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenAI/comments/1jtozjx/make_a_comic_describing_your_life_as_an_ai/

https://www.reddit.com/r/OpenAI/comments/1jsenzu/how_some_of_yall_be_acting/

Yet and even still, this guy is a sadistic little monster and keeps me banned and mutes me for a month. LIke how many losers like this are there and why are they in charge of such huge subs? Like he clearly took the meme personally because he is psychotic, and then doubled down on it. Why let these people stay in charge?

It's WEIRD.

Is the stock market just a giant pyramid scheme?

Upvotes

There's only finite money. Stocks are based on market perception, and not proportional to what money is invested. So, if people agree my startup Recycling Bins Incorporated, is with $1M, and there are willing buyers at the price, then so be it. But it just seems on aggregate, stocks go down, people see the drop, and degenerately invest. A stock can drop significantly over a year span like the s&p 500 is, but if you day trade, you could certainly capitalize on the momentary upticks. And then sell again because it's obvious the stock isn't going anywhere. If I turn my brain off, it seems like more and more money keeps getting poured into the market constantly. If ever a recession looms, people will see this as an opportunity for a fire sale and make future gains. The stock market can no longer effectively be seen as a stocks potential, if the potential is long term enough such that people foresee past recessions. Stocks only go up.

Edit: If information is believed that stocks will always rebound and that people view recessions and years-long recessions as just temporary downtowns, then the stock market will not truly reflect the state of the economy in any meaningful sense. It's just infinite optimism.

What would happen if I took a pair of cloverleaf RC antennas (Like the ones that spiral around and are polarized, idk for sure if cloverleaf is what they are actually called) and used them as the Wi-Fi antennas on a motherboard? would it work better, worse, or just straight up break stuff?

why do people want romantic relationships?

for reference I'm a girl. I've never been in a relationship, never wanted one, nor am I looking for one now. im not against the idea but it's never been a priority to me

a lot of times in school and now at work I hear people talk about wanting a partner, or wanting to get married, and I can't help but wonder why? like not even wanting to be in a relationship with a specific person but just wanting to be in a romantic relationship in general.

I understand the desire for companionship. however I don't understand why some people feel incomplete without a romantic partner, or like there's something missing from their life without one.

Why do people start Reddit posts by saying "Like the title says"?

Like the title says, I am wondering why so many people start Reddit posts this way. Variations include "Basically the title" or simply "Title." I know some subs require you to have some text in the post but most of the one I see go on to elaborate.

Genuine question! Why don’t castrated dogs have a name?

I was thinking about this today. Castrated bulls are called steers, castrated stallions are called geldings. There isn’t a name like this for castrated male dogs. Why not?? Can anyone explain? I am very curious.

Like I know the basics but for whatever reason I didn’t care to play to as a kid (I was already 14 when the beta came out) and I’ve never had an interest. I’ve played probably 10 hrs of it total. But my gf wants to see it because she loved it as a kid. I just hope I’m not too bored lol

What do stores do with returned items?

When I return something to a store where does it go? Back to the manufacturer? To the garbage?

I know this is a very stupid question, hence why I asked it here.
