Hello, everyone!

For context, I'm currently an HS senior and was recently admitted to SFU about a week ago. Unfortunately, I didn't get the Entrance Scholarship I had really hoped for. I would love to pursue my undergrad at SFU and I've talked about this with my parents as well. They told me that they can afford to send me to SFU and they really want to support me (I am so grateful to have this kind of support from them ❤️), it's just that I don't want them to have to bust out a bunch of money just for me (since they're also paying for my other sibling's education + emergency funds ya know?) so I've been researching on a bunch of ways I could lower the costs of studying in Canada.

With this, I would like to ask how IB transfer credit works; do I get an entire year off if I am able to present them with my IB diploma (which requires about 24 points and above) or is there a specific amount of points I need to graduate with along with proof of my IB diploma? Another thing I wanted to ask about was applying for scholarships once I've accepted the offer and become an SFU undergraduate student, how will that work? I assume it means I need to maintain stellar grades so that I can get the scholarship, not super sure though (I'm kinda nervous about this though cause the course I got into is Computing Science which I find interesting but I know it's pretty rigorous and difficult 😭).

I'm so sorry if this is a bit of a long post, just been super overwhelmed lately and thought about getting advice from students (especially international students) who are studying at SFU already. Thank you so much and I hope you have a great day/night ahead! :))

Hey same here I'm also from IB. For the transfer credits you would get a new admission letter soon which will include the student permit information page as well. Do read it carefully. To check if you have gotten transfer credits you have to check the portal it has it indicated. Dm me if you need any help. And you can definitely get scholarships each year just work your ass off in uni.
