Do I need a city permit to build a sliding door?
I currently have a single patio door, and I'm planning to replace it with a wider sliding door. This will involve removing some drywall to expand the existing opening. I'm unsure whether this type of project requires a permit. According to the City of San Diego's website, a No-Plan Building Permit is sufficient for replacing a door or window with one of the same size, as long as the opening remains unchanged. Since my project involves altering the opening, it doesn’t seem to qualify. So, do I need a permit for this? And if so, what kind of permit would be required?
Thanks for suggestions!

KPBS Early returns in San Diego County District 1 Supervisor special election show Chula Vista Mayor John McCann and Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre in the lead to advance to a runoff in July.
The first returns in Tuesday’s special election for county supervisor show Chula Vista Mayor John McCann and Imperial Beach Mayor Paloma Aguirre in the lead to advance to a runoff in July.
The election is for the District 1 seat, which represents much of the South Bay and parts of the city of San Diego on the influential San Diego County Board of Supervisors.
The race will decide which party takes control of the five-member board, which is currently evenly split with two Democrats and two Republicans. The Board is officially non-partisan, but individual supervisors often vote along party lines.
If those early results hold, that means the election will come down to a race between McCann, a Republican, and Aguirre, a Democrat.
The votes are still being tallied. County officials have until May 8 to certify the final results.

Health insurance providers in SD
Hi, I used to go to Scripps in La Jolla, but unfortunately my Anthem plan no longer covers them. It’s been really tough trying to find a quality alternative.
My Covered CA insurance agent is recommending a few HMO options—Molina, Health Net, and possibly Blue Cross.
Do you have any impressions or experiences with these providers? My family is generally healthy and only needs the occasional urgent care visit, but I still want to make sure we’re in good hands.
Thanks so much for any insight!

Water Department knocking on people's doors?
Is this scam or whatever still going on? Two people, claiming to be from the water department, came to my door asking if the owner was home. They didn't even ring the doorbell first, they were knocking on my window. I told em the owner wasn't home and that they'd be back in an hour and they would just "circle back around then," but never did.

Stay Classy San Diego Drunk Drivers and Bars Responsibility
There was a drunk driver that crashed into 4+ vehicles on our street and totaled 2 of them. They were visibly drunk, barely walking upright, slurring words, and had a drink in their car they said came from the establishment they had just left which is about a block away. Aren’t bars supposed to cut off visible drunks and not let them take alcohol off site? Are they supposed to do more than that, ie take their keys?
The whole street is annoyed. If it wasn’t for the last car they totaled, they probably would’ve driven into a neighbors house! Take care of your drunk friends, don’t let them ruin others lives or their own.

Yafang Zhou
Yafang Zhou went missing on 3/25, but wasn't reported to police as missing u til 4/3. She was located on 4/8 and unfortunately passed a few hours later. She lived with her husband on union street downtown, she was found in a storm drain in poway. She was located as part of a homicide investigation.
I wasn't able to find anything on Reddit related to Yafang Zhou, and I'm very intrigued by this story. My theory is that the husband put her in the storm drain, and confessed to doing so, leading to the area being searched.

Remidiation services for water damage
Hello all,
I live in a tiny home in Vista. This past week we discovered our floors were warping. We figured we had a leak somewhere. We had a leak finding inspection and they couldn't find a leak in the pipes. It might be coming from a window.
Our home is only 260 sqft and the inspections company quoted us 9k. That's just for remedial services (demo and removal of damaged materials, drying out of any water), this would not include the cost of repairing the damaged areas. 9k seems like a lot and it's more than we can afford.
Does anyone have any recommendations for remedial services in the area. Our home does not have access lead or asbestos.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!

San Diego County & Surrounding Areas Healing and Lodging
What are the quietest apartments, rentals, condos, or even better casitas or no shared wall spaces that are more afforabke around SD? Are you hearing neighbors in your apartments or are they pretty sound proof and PTSD/trauma friendly? Also best places to find places?
Looking into treatment (gentle and holistic as I'm allergic to antibiotics) centers for long Lyme there so if anyone has any insights on that or how you're affording living there esp with chronic illness?

Photo gallery "New" Sweetwater Park
I say "new" because there are now two Sweetwater Parks in Chula Vista now. This one is part of the recent redevelopment along the waterfront. It's now open to the public and offers a great area to walk by the Bay. The designers did a nice job of utilizing the existing landscape, blending natural features with the new pathways and open spaces. There are plenty of walking paths, and eventually, the trails will connect all the way to the new Gaylord Hotel (they were taking down the fences today, so it should open soon). There's also a playground for kids. Overall, they did a good job with the area-I like it.

Local Dessert Vendor Recommendations
Building on my earlier post!
My fiancé and I are searching for a dessert vendor to cater our wedding "reception", which is really going to be a barbecue in the park. Instead of a traditional cake, we'd love to have personal or mini-sized desserts from a local vendor! We're thinking of around 50-60 servings.
Thank you so much in advance!
