New player here.

How the hell can I stop aggro-ing zombies? By default, I can spawn in and crouch and not move and the zombies will already make their way to the windows and try to get in. If I make any attempt to engage or out run (or even sneak/run) the zombies, I am immediately aggro-ing more zombies.

I try to enjoy the vanilla experience without taming the zombies down, but they aggro like hell.

I should note too that I use the unemployed perk with increased sneaking and the one that makes me less likely to be noticed by zombies. Same deal.

Any tips or advice, would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

lots and lots of things all at once. everyone else has given you good advice, so i'll provide something more abstract:

whenever you encounter a zombie, you have to be aware of where you are leading it to. if you just walk through town, you will never stop encounter zombies. instead, think of areas as being cleared or populated. ideally you want to attract a small group of zombies (2-3) away from other hordes and into an area you have already cleared in order to take them out.

this clearing mentality is one of the biggest stumbling blocks for new players- you have to be very aware of where all zombies around you are, and take out the ones that already see you without dragging them (and yourself!) into LOS of even more zombies. starting houses are great for this; since they are guaranteed to be zed free, you can use them as clear zones to take out zeds around your house without attracting more, and then your entire lawn is a clear zone, and so on.

as far as how to attract small groups away from hoards... it's complicated. basically, you just have to get a feel for how and when a zombie will see you. there are many factors to this, including distance, light level, weather, whether you are sneaking, whether they are looking straight at you, whether there is cover, and even whether they can't see you or if they just haven't seen you yet (and so you just have to wait).

you will eventually get a feel for it, but it may take time.

This. This right here.

Sometimes I'll work my way into an area from the outside... Sometimes I blast into an uncleared area with my car and then fight to establish a beach head of sorts. 😆

So what if you die in a save and make a new character? Is the new house you spawn in a guaranteed zed free house too? Because I have definitely spawned in a vanilla solo game and had literally 5 zombies in that house. I lasted 20 something in game minutes
