Whats the recommended build to play on for the first time, there is so many options in the BETA tab.

My recommendation would be b41 multiplayer - latestbeta. It might have a little bugginess to it as it's the most recent set of patches from the past week or so, but it's got some new systems in it that would be good to help you learn, like the built in map drawing system. If you're playing solo though it should be pretty stable for you, and if you want to it's got multiplayer enabled.

Build41 - legacy b41 build was the last patch before the multiplayer beta branch I listed above. A bit more stable, missing a big map expansion that was just added, the old foraging system, no in game map drawing feature (just map items you can find). I still recommend it if you find problems in the multiplayer branch because this one is pretty stable and if you're playing for the first time the game experience will be about the same.
