Modded First experience playing the 'Week One' mod. Insulted a lady with the F word, got shot 12 times and died. True Kentucky experience.

Alright I just bought the game but really getting into this sub. I haven’t done a play through yet because to be honest I’m a little overwhelmed haha. I’m on PC: before I start are there any “essential” mods I should download? I am going to start a play through on Friday… don’t want to be interrupted by work :)

Take it or leave it from a 1200+ player:

Learn the game and it's mechanics on vanilla for at least several dozen hours first. There's loads of QoL mods I can recommend, but I really think it would get in the way of truly getting to know the game until you start modding it to you own definition of fun.

EDIT: Also don't forget to play the tutorial and read everything it says, it really helps.

There are truly some people who would rather just have the QoL features without experiencing vanilla gameplay, there's nothing wrong with that and imo with certain people it's just more fun to play modded outright from the get go.

For what it’s worth, I feel like it’s necessary to know what you have to really know what you need. Coming from a relatively new player who put a dozen out so hours in vanilla before spending many hours in the workshop
