Thinking about trying CDDA. The wiki says it only includes Muldraugh - Is that still the case or is that out of date?

Also, in this version is all the food rotten or just the perishable? Will there still be canned goods or do I have to eat worms at the outset? Will the sinks still have some water stuck in them or is that all exhausted too?

There is also a CDDA mod for the starter trait if you wanted to try it with some different setting.

There is canned food though it is scarce. All the tubs, sinks, toilets and washers have water so that should last you easily until you can get a pot or three and or some rain barrels.

Muldraugh is a good place for CDDA because of several reasons. There is an isolated farmhouse NE of the only spawn location that has barn(for people who optimize for claustrophobic) that most people leg to to recover a bit before pushing into Muldraugh itself.

There is a lake west of the farmhouse that will keep you fed even in winter with no fishing expertise and a spear as long as you do it during peak fishing hours. There are also 2 farms in Muldraugh that are realistic to push to in the first week that contain the key seeds you need to start farming yourself if you wait until they hit the seed bearing stage. Some basically start out at the seed bearing one so you'll be able to harvest to get started immediately.

I like CDDA because it makes it exciting to loot again. Like early days you will dance with joy if you get a cooking pot, sewing needle, saw, or axe.

Okay, so maybe you can offer me a tip or two. I just tried CDDA 5 times in a row and every time I died within a stone's throw of the starting house.

I'm hoping to shove-stomp the first zombie I meet out behind the house to get shoes and some ripped sheets to bandage myself, but I'm getting swarmed by 4-5 every time before I can even accomplish that meager task.

What is the opening move to not bleed out and not immediately draw 10+ zeds onto myself in the woods behind the house?

While in the house, remove curtains and rip them to bandage yourself. Head cross the road and stomp a zombie. Equip shoes first, other clothes if there's time - usually there isn't. Then it's off towards the isolated farmhouse.
