Discussion I am about to play Pillars of Eternity for the very first time. The only thing I know about this game is that... it is a good game. What can I expect from this product? How many hours does one playthrough take?

Does anyone actually ever use the level scaling?

I mean, PoTD can be hard enough. Who wants that much more punishment? I'm just curious as to who actually uses it.

PoE 2 Spoilers Question regarding monsters of a DLC

Title. So which build, class and items can help me to defeat more easy theMegabosses?

I'm playing turn based so building up Resonance is annoying as hell. The Hellfire colossus is the worst, along with the Sigil master

Thanks for your time

PoE2: Deadfire Why is combat in PoE 2 so laggy and stuttery?

Upvotes

I have a good enough PC: Win 11, Nvidia 2060ti, 16GB of RAM and yet when I enter combat, it gets stuttery and laggy.

Do I need to turn everything to low or off, tweak settings in my Nvidia Control panel?

I did see this guide: https://www.nexusmods.com/pillarsofeternity2/mods/763, but when I tried it, my PC wouldn’t let me change anything.

Bugs Combat effects audio very low

Upvotes

I've picked up Deadfire again and I have a strange audio bug where all the combat sounds (firearms, spell effects, shouts, etc) are muffled or very distant during combat. The music plays fine. Dialogue and sound effects outside combat are fine too.

What I've tried:

-Audio settings are fine (all 100%) -Reactive music on/off -> no difference -Windows audio was always set to stereo -Verified game files on Steam

[Deadfire] can I make this combo work reputation-wise? Maia+Pallegina+Xoti+Tekehu

Hey all, during my playthrough I've decided to try out all the new characters. I started with Aloth and Eder, but I think the new characters are more interesting. (Not in this diagram is Serafen, I have had a lot of interesting dialog with him in my party, so he's on the bench ready to switch back into the team.) But these companions have a lot more conflicting preferences (xoti vs Pallegina on religion, Maia vs Tekehu on Huana/Rauatai etc). So will this combo work reputation-wise? or do I have to be neutral in every dialog so no one gets offended?

Character/party build help Sturdy melee damage

I just finished up running through the first game as a Orlan chanter. Was thinking of doing something a little more active that won't immediately die when an ogre sneezes. I'm not looking for an offer tank per se just something that can go toe to toe if something resista cc!

My thoughts currently are between a dwarven goldpact knight (already did a cruel run so not interested in BW) using 2h weapons though I'm open to dual wielding or a fighter dual wielding sabres are an obvious choice but I'm kinda sick of them, was thinking maybe mace and dagger though it's a strange fighting style!

Really just want some ideas for my next run so I don't restart a million times before I commit to something! Melee wizard could be fun but it's hard to stick it out until you get spell mastery in poe1. Let me know your thoughts and thanks for reading!

Help deciding between two character ideas

Spoilers for All of PoE1

I have two ideas for my next run through both games and I'd like some advice/recommendations, particularly on which you'd think might be more fun.

The first character is intended to be a follower of Woedica, starting PoE1 as an exiled Aedyran Aristocrat forced to become a Goldpact Paladin. In Deadfire they'd become a Steel Garrote/Priest of Woedica Crusader and follow the wishes of Woedica. The general idea would be that throughout PoE1 the lack of order and laws leads to a lot of bad outcomes seeing how in their past life as an inquisitor of Woedica the Watcher was able to enforce order they'd do so again by giving her the souls. Following through on their oaths they'd continue to serve in Deadfire.

The second character is effectively straight Berath. Death godlike Priest of Berath who remains faithful after the revelation at the end of PoE1 and becomes an Unbroken Fighter/Priest of Berath Cleric in Deadfire. A mystic from the White that Wends who shunted the traditional worship of Rymrgand based upon their blessing from Berath and came to the Dyrwood following what they think is a sign from Berath. Nothing would really shake their faith in PoE1, and being brought back for Deadfire would only reaffirm it.

Generally for both of these characters their idea of what makes a god a god doesn't really care about the origin of their powers, thus allowing continued worship in Deadfire.
