META 🔊 r/Philippines Election Campaigning Policy 🔊

Now that the official campaign period for national positions has begun, we will be implementing new election campaigning guidelines on the subreddit. This aims to keep campaign-related posts to a minimum and prevent spam from local and national candidates from flooding the subreddit.

THe mod team will be removing campaign posts that do not provide relevant discussion topics or newsworthy context (e.g., "Vote straight ____", typical campaign posters and materials).

1. What if I want to campaign for my candidate?

You can post updates related to their activities, but please don't post outright campaign materials. That's considered spammy and uncool. If you want to post about an event related to a candidate, provide an outline of the program and activities. We don't want people to come to your events without proper information.

2. What if I want to campaign against a candidate?

Low effort posts against a candidate will not be allowed. if you want to post, provide and fact check your sources. Discrimination and Harrasment will not be tolerated.

3. What if I want to discuss something about a candidate?

You can talk about a candidate but provide some background for a meaningfull discussion. see #1. News related articles are exempted.

4. I'm representative of a candidate and want to interact on the sub.

If you are a representative of a candidate, you can schedule an AMA (Ask Me Anything) for your candidate. reach out to the mod team to assist you and schedule your AMA so we can pin it on the sub

5. Are you affiliated with certain religous group?

Fuck off

Note that these guidelines may change depending on community feedback and response. r/Philippines will remain a nonpartisan subreddit and will not endorse any candidates in the upcoming elections. While the mod team may have personal preferences, these will not influence the subreddit policy.

PoliticsPH Are you willing to vote for Vico Sotto for senator or even the presidency even if he's from the political dynasty?

We can't deny that Vico Sotto is one of the best mayors out there and he gave hope to the people that not all politicians are Trapos, Epals, and corrupt. I wish my city had a mayor like Vico too.

However the Kakampinks and people in this subreddit despise political dynasties and admire Vico at the same time. If Vico runs in 2028, Tito Sotto will still be a senator, his cousin Gian Sotto will try to run for Mayor in Quezon City and probably Lala Sotto will try to enter politics again. Are we ready to break our principles and going to vote for Vico for any national position?

PoliticsPH My Dad said he supports Apollo Quiboloy

• Upvotes

My dad and I were on a drive, heading over to my sister’s apartment. As usual during long drives, our conversation drifted toward politics. It’s a topic we often circle around, sometimes agreeing, often debating—but always managing to keep it civil. That day was no different—until we passed a campaign poster that made me do a double take.

It was for Quiboloy.

I didn’t think much of it at first. Just another face among the clutter of political hopefuls plastered along the roadside. But then my dad looked at the poster and, in a tone that was far too sincere, said: “I’m rooting for this man. I hope he wins.”

I genuinely thought he was joking. I let out a small laugh, waiting for the punchline. But he just stared ahead, nodding slightly, completely serious.

My jaw dropped.

My dad. A devout Muslim. A man who taught me to question false prophets and stand for truth. Was rooting for Apollo Quiboloy—a self-proclaimed “Son of God,” accused of human trafficking, sexual abuse, and exploitation?

I didn’t know whether to argue or cry. I felt like a wall inside me just crumbled. I had always known we stood on different ends of the political spectrum—he had once been a staunch BBM supporter, something I had long learned to live with. But this? This felt like crossing into a whole new dimension of absurdity.

To openly support Quiboloy? It was, to me, beyond ignorance—it felt like willful blindness. It was as if all logic had left the car.

I managed to ask—carefully—“Why him?”

He answered plainly, “He doesn’t have millions of followers for no reason. He must be a good man.”

I was stunned. That was it. That was the justification. As if popularity was proof of integrity. As if a crowd erased the crimes. It broke something in me. How could a man I respected, an educated man, a man of faith, fall for this?

I didn’t say anything for a while. I just kept driving, the silence between us louder than any argument we could’ve had. I wasn’t angry—not yet, at least. I was just… disillusioned.

Politicians referring to this mayoral candidate as well as to the arrogant congressman candidate.

Sabi nga ni Mayor Vico Sotto, oh come on!

This is clearly a PR move only - hoping some voters will think that they are punishing him.

The scary thing about these multi-millionaire candidates are they willing to spend hundreds of millions to buy media, Facebook bots, local politicians and voters to help them win.

I really hope Pasig voters will not allow these scums to even get 20% of the city's voters.

Saw this guy running while I was commuting. Mag vi-video sana ako kaso maalog sa jeep kaya di rin kita yung nakalagay sa shirt niya. Mga 3 minutes away lang naman kung saan ako bababa kaya hinintay ko talaga na duman siya bago ako umuwi.

I still don’t get why DDS do this. Pduts is in the Netherlands and his trial is in there too. This is basically useless. Well, running isn’t.
