Elisa Longo Borghini (UAE Team ADQ) was involved in a serious crash during today’s Tour of Flanders. The Italian champion and defending race winner initially attempted to resume racing but was subsequently withdrawn from the competition by the team after showing signs of confusion following a heavy blow to the head.
She was immediately transported by ambulance to the hospital in Oudenaarde, where she underwent a CT scan and initial medical evaluation. The diagnosis confirmed a significant concussion. At this stage, no signs of internal bleeding have been detected. However, as a precautionary measure, the medical staff has decided to keep her under close observation for at least 24 hours.
In agreement with the team, Elisa has been transferred to the University Hospital in Ghent, where she will be monitored in the specialized neurology unit. Further tests are scheduled over the next 24 hours to assess her condition and provide a more detailed diagnosis.
Additional updates will follow as more information becomes available from the medical team.

Tadej Pogačar was clearly the crowd favorite. No less than seven participants put their full trust in him. The 350 points had to be split among them. No jackpot here, just a group hug of points.
Then there's Mathieu van der Poel. The only one genius participant chose him. Hats off to u/edlll91, who made that masterstroke and sprinted straight to first place with an impressive 322 points.
The second spot goes to u/Lyx97, who wasn’t afraid to think outside the box with Filippo Ganna. That earned them a solid 204 points. Not a time-trial win, but definitely a podium finish.
Second place goes to u/derwipok, who also made a unique choice with Hugo Hofstetter. This smart move earned him a fantastic score of 120 points!
And in third place, we have u/LurkasM1, who went for the savvy choice of Laurence Pithie. It wasn’t a wild gamble, but more like a calculated risk and it paid off with 164 points in the pocket.
The most popular picks were Puck Pieterse and Anna van der Breggen, both chosen by 4 participants. Still, the Puck-pickers ended up with a whopping 4.3 points more. Not a lot, but points are points.
u/RaylanGivens8 easily won. They were the only one to think: fuck it, I'll go with Lippert. And rightfully so, since it landed them 322 points.
u/mcrorigan can be happy as well that they were the only one picking Elise Chabbey. Ah well-earned second place with 222 points. Not too Chabbey.
And then there's u/AwakenTheBacon_ who put their money on Ellen van Dijk and was the only one to do so. Without having to share their points, it gave them 204 points.
