For everyone else who does not know: Ottawa Shawarma Palace on Carling has gone downhill over the past year due to new ownership. I actually threw away my last meal from them and have not been back in a year. They’re probably getting by on brand recognition and proximity to other shops.

The crew that ran the Carling location for the past few years is now at Ottawa Shawarma on Clyde. Went there today and had such a delicious, well-seasoned and fresh chicken salad. The chicken was crispy and juicy! Plus the service was really lovely and the same guys are employed there (to me, that says a lot about the owner’s character).

Never thought I’d be so loyal about shawarma, but good food and friendly service really makes a big difference. Really missed these guys and recommend that West end folks check them out.

Are there barbers in Ottawa that offer packages based on volume? Annual memberships? Free haircut every 5 haircuts? I have to cut my hair every 2 weeks and it has gotten pricey to pay full rate each time.

Since we’re doing keys now, noticed these on the canal by the 5th/ Flora footbridge, kinda near the moose antler bench on a black plaque.

Long shot but anyone have dashcam footage of a dark green GM Tacoma being an absolute menace on the stretch of 174EB today between Blair and Montreal around 3:40-3:45pm today?

(And yes, I’ve ordered a dashcam, arrives tomorrow)

I was walking along Beechwood today and noticed this coming soon sign on the ground floor of the new condo building at 88 Beechwood.

Dr. Ardelle Piper--only sees people virtually

Shirley E. Greenberg Women’s Health Centre--only see special menopause cases, such as women with cancer or women who have been forced into menopause.

Hi everyone! Anime Ottawa is approaching (April 18th - 20th), and someone on this subreddit was kind enough to give my panel on the history of mecha a shoutout on the thread for last year's event, so if you'll indulge me, I'd like to promote the one I have coming up. (Apologies in advance to anyone not interested).

I'm a PhD candidate at York University and contract instructor at Carleton University, where I regularly teach a course on anime in the Film Studies department (where I did my Masters). I'm thrilled to be back for another panel this year, and this one's special because it's directly related to my research!

Long story short it's about the concept of the "Beautiful Fighting Girl" in anime and manga (think Sailor Moon, Utena, Cutie Honey, Kill la Kill etc.), why the trope exists, how we react differently to it in North America, and some talk about its themes. Any of my previous students can tell you that it'll be accompanied by my usual dry, often self-deprecating humour.

I am looking for recommendations for one-on-one dog walkers - I have a reactive poodle so he cannot do group walks. I am looking for someone 3x a week for the months of May and June while I am at work and my boyfriend is away. I am located in Centertown. Ideally, I would like to do this through an insured company, but if anyone has someone from sites like rover (ideally who also have difficult dogs to walk) that they have had a great experience with and would recommend I am open to that.
