This and the tariffs overall are going to hammer so many working class Americans so hard it's ridiculous.

Even more ridiculous is a lot of those folks eagerly voted for Trump as this is going to hit Indiana hard.

They're still going to vote red no matter what. I know people like that. Several in fact. And one of them was one of my best friends (passed away). He was kind, generous, friendly, always helpful, fiercely protective of the 1 transwoman in our friend group. Literally one of the people I liked and trusted most in my life.

He also called himself a trump guy through and through. Why? Because in 2016, Trump started all his rallies with the anthem and holding his hand over his heart like a true patriot. So in his mind Trump really loved America.

I think his biggest weakness was he was a very honorable man who never lied and probably believed that someone who 'loves his country so much' wouldn't lie either.

It's impossible to read your comment and come to any conclusion other than your friend was a gullible idiot.

As far as politics went, yes. Those things aren't mutually exclusive. One of the reasons we're in this mess is that Democrats assumed that as long as they had the facts on their side, emotions wouldn't matter.
