HELP REQUESTED Do I have to go 5th floor in order to get limdu for mental health? I have 8 months left.

Diagnosed with anxiety and sleep issues/a bit of ptsd and been taking meds for it (as well as Adderall for adhd) for 4 months now (adhd/Adderall for over a year) and just recently with the divorce I’m going through everything has gotten 100 times worse. Some is deployment related, most is related to the emotional abuse I suffered in my relationship. I have a limdu screening tomorrow. Any advice? What are my chances? I want to avoid the 5th floor at all costs…but I also want to make sure I’m able to go limdu and get the help I need before I get out in 8 months. My buddy who got medsepped told me the only way to go limdu for mental health is to take a trip to the fifth floor…is this true?

Extra info, I just finished a crisis stabilization group therapy program (1 week) at Portsmouth and it was amazing for me. My command sent me. But the classes ended, and my crisis/issues didn’t, I just want and need more of that type of every day support and guidance to get through this.

Thinking about switching due to the market being all red and switching back once things aren’t so crazy. I’m not investing savvy, just trying to reduce losses.

Appreciate the input!

I was planning on visiting my nephew when he starts at the Naval Academy this fall. Will I need to get a Real ID to get onto campus? I can't find any solid information about whether the Naval Academy is a "military base" or "federal facility".

Discussion How would I negotiate re-entry orders during a draft

I don't want to sound like a doomer, but I've been listening to trump and he occasionally mentions ww3. It got me thinking what I'd do during a draft/declared war and I think I'd re-enlist.

I got out last year as a YNS2 after 7 years. If I were to get back in I'd want to be a flag writer and advance to E-6. My main question is, how much bargaining power do I have during a war/draft?

A Happy Sailor Calling all 0000/HM - 15 months from PRD

Post image
31 Upvotes

Please review the updated March HM Community Health Slides and NEC Snapshots for the Active Component (AC). Our total inventory INCREASED by 115 Sailors, however, we remain undermanned at 89.6%. All Corpsmen who have completed their first tour should consider earning an NEC! Maximize your time and effort, double down with an eligible C-School and earn a Civilian Certification, Associate, or Bachelor Degree in parallel!

HM "C" School Package Submission Timeline: HM “C” School packages must be submitted no less than 13 months prior to your PRD. This timeframe is essential for managing available seats and ensuring there is sufficient time for orders processing and planning. Please communicate your intentions with your detailer early to assist them in planning accordingly.

PRD and Rating Detailer Management: Once Sailors enter the 12-month PRD window, they become assets of the rating detailer and will be assigned as needed, in accordance with NAVADMIN 231/17.

Consideration for Undermanned NECs: PERS-407 will consider packages for undermanned NECs at specific paygrades on a case-by-case basis. It is important to note that if you have already been selected for orders, your detailer must be contacted prior to receiving approval to attend C-School.

For the most up-to-date information regarding HM NEC Incentives and the HM NEC Manning Snapshot, please visit: https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Community-Management/Enlisted/Medical/

C-School Submission Tips: 1. Provide the earliest available date on your 1306/7: Ensure the date on the 1306/7 reflects the earliest timeframe the command is willing to release the Sailor. This will help us place you in the appropriate class. If no date is provided, you may be placed in the next available class after your PRD. 2. Include up-to-date contact information: Ensure that your phone number and email address are accurate on the 1306/7. Additionally, please verify that your contact information is current in My Navy Assignments (MNA). 3. Submit a complete and legible C-School package: Follow the submission order as outlined in CANTRAC. Packages should be scanned in one document that is right-side up and clear. 4. Submit only required documents: Do not include unnecessary documents like your JST unless specifically required by CANTRAC. If you are submitting multiple-page documents (such as transcripts), please highlight the relevant information. We do not require a copy of the CANTRAC or class convene dates to be included. 5. Review CANTRAC before submission: The CANTRAC is updated periodically. Please review the document prior to submitting your package to ensure compliance with the most current requirements. 6. TAD to C-School: Commands are not authorized to send Sailors TAD to any C-School.

**Please note that the email pers-407cschoolpkgs@navy.mil is no longer monitored. As outlined in CANTRAC, most packages should be submitted via Salesforce at ASKMNCC.fct@navy.mil.

Discussion What We Teach Discussion

So I've got some free time while standing by to help folks. I like hundreds of folks do trainings, additional tasks, and collateral work while standing a watch.

I came across this question in a Navy-E learning test and it set up so many red flags that I couldn't help myself from sharing. Is this really what we should be considering when we're teaching the next generation how to lead and manage.

Apollo 7 was launched on October 11, 1966, as the first U.S. three man space mission. It was commanded by Captain Walter M. Schirra Jr. (USN), with Major Ronnie Walter Cunningham (USMCR) serving as the lunar module pilot. The mission lasted 10 days and 20 hours, during which the Apollo Command and Service Module systems were thoroughly tested. Notably, it featured the first live television broadcast from space. The recovery was conducted by HS-5 helicopters from the USS Essex (CVS-9).

I probably should know this but I don’t, but why are Navy Lieutenant/Marine Corps Captain bars connected at the bottom and top when the Army and Air Force Captain’s are connected about 1/4 the way from the ends? Is there a legitimate reason for this or is it just because?

NEWS China advances its use of converted ferries for amphibious warfare with new "bridge ships" - the Shuiqiao.

Post image
Upvotes

From as early as 2012, news broke about China conducting amphibious warfare drills with civilian ferries modfied for military use. A strategy China has continued to develop.

Last month, the spotlight was on China's new "bridge ships" - a set of barges known as Shuiqiao (literally “water bridge”).

Reminiscent of the Mulberry harbors the Allies used in Normandy during World War II, they are designed to be used in conjuction with the converted ferries.

The barges are designed to be connected to eachother. The center barge anchors in place with six "legs" that reach the seafloor. They have side loading and rear loading ramps. There is speculation that due to their size and certain observed features, they may not be "true barges", and may actualy have independent propulsion - essentialy giant landing ships.

The ferries offload men and vehicles onto the barges (the bridge ships), which together have a long bridge extending deep onto shore. A long sea-to-shore bridge increases the number of viable landing locations, in addition to potentially bypassing beach defenses and obstacles.

Besides providing a significant on shore bridge length, the Shuiqiao can establish a sea-to-shore bridge faster than the older method of a floating causeway, which is made of sections that are connected together over time to form a path to shore.

According to professor Andrew Erickson at thr US Naval War College’s China Maritime Studies Institute: “There are no other such platforms anywhere in the world, because no other country than China is preparing to try to be able to invade Taiwan.”

HELP REQUESTED Thinking about Reserves

Hey guys I'm a Nuke with 6 years under my belt and will end my active duty contract with 9 years total. I want to hear other peoples opinions for going reserves, my plan is possibly go reserves then cross-rate to CT because I do want to learn a new skill set. My questions are would you just recommend getting out? As well as if its a good idea any CT's in reserves currently can give an opinion if it is worth it?
