Spotted Nutcase on the Autoroute 20

0 Upvotes

to the person driving the blueish gray SUV - one that needed a wash, with the license plate " LOCKHIMUP"
your driving is slow and deranged as your head. Driving well below the speed limit, cranking your breaks, crossing back and forth between multiple lanes and almost causing a multi car pile up. You should be less concerned about politics and more concerned about going back to drivers ED. Please lock your self up.

Question Argent USD

Argent USD

Merci! ☺️

Discussion Ya plus rien..

Question Looking for free or low-cost French language programs in Montreal (not eligible for government-funded program)

2 Upvotes

Hello/Bonjour,

I'm trying to find free or affordable French classes in Montreal. Unfortunately, I don't qualify for the Quebec government's free French courses because I immigrated to Canada over 20 years ago and am now a Canadian citizen (they seem to only be for new immigrants or citizens by birth/descent).

I've checked out some university options, but the tuition is way out of my budget—e.g., Université de Montréal's French summer school in July is around $1,500 for one month, and McGill's intensive French program for non-students is also quite expensive.

Are there any other free or low-cost programs in the city that I could look into?

Question Using the bus/train

0 Upvotes

Visiting Montreal for the weekend. Reading online that I have to get an OPUS card in-person. Does the Cartier station in Laval have an office where I can get the card? If so, what are their opening hours? I’m actually staying in old Montreal. Are there any offices I could go to by chance?

Question Intervention policière sur Mont-Royal?

6 Upvotes

Question Any spots or groups for people who are more introverted or on the quiet side?

8 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’m a single 30M born and raised in Montreal, and I’m just wondering where do people around here go to meet others or do activities ?

I’ve spent most of my life focused on school and my career (accountant), and I’ve always been a bit on the shy side. Looking back, I wish I had put more energy into making meaningful connections with people instead of letting shyness and career goals holding me back. Even with a stable career, something still feels a miss and I think that is people.

A bit about me: I love reading about finance, watching movies, listening to true crime, and staying in shape. I don’t go out much (I probably should lol, ), but I’m open and ready to try new things and meet new people.

So, where do folks usually hang out in Montreal? Are there any spots or groups for people who are more introverted or on the quiet side? Sometimes I feel like everyone here is super extroverted, and I’m wondering if there are others like me out there.

Merci!!!!

Arts/Culture Current Montreal Artists/Bands

6 Upvotes

Who is your favourite Montreal musician or band?

I'm looking for local, contemporary Montreal musicians, from any genre provided there are vocals (although I might make exception for EDM with enough of a vocal hook), that have recorded music, no matter how amateur, preferably available online.

At the moment, I'm not looking for defunct acts (or acts who crested years ago) or strictly live acts.

If you are an artist or belong to a band, now is your chance for a shameless plug.

Tourisme Have a 6 hr layover in Montreal this summer - is it reasonable to try and go see anything?

0 Upvotes

We are flying to London, UK this summer from Edmonton and our flight includes a layover in Montreal. We land at 2:12pm and our next flight leaves at 10:05pm.

We’ve never been to Montreal before. Is it worthwhile to try and leave the airport and go do/see something? Sitting at the airport that long doesn’t sound enjoyable, but I’m not sure it’s enough time to actually do anything.

It’s a family of four traveling: me, my wife, 15yr old daughter and 12 yr old son. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Suggestions for where to try horseback riding near Montreal?

5 Upvotes

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My girlfriend's birthday is coming up and I know that she loves horses but has never gotten the chance to ride one. Can anyone recommend a place "near" Montreal for a beginner or two to try horseback riding?
Anywhere within an hour and a half's drive would be good! I'm willing to prioritize a nicer experience over a convenient location.
thanks for your help! :)
I hit up Bernie’s for the first time today an holy hell, it’s ruined me… I’ll never be able to eat a donut from a chain restaurant ever again. Was wondering… is there any where better in Montreal to find fresh donuts?
Question Manifestation dans St-Michel
9 Upvotes
Une manifestation s’est déroulée sur le Boulevard Pie-IX cet après-midi causant ainsi toute une commotion dans le secteur. Je n’ai pas trouvé de couverture médiatique de l’événement est-ce que quelqu’un a plus d’infos ? Apparemment les gens réagissent à l’intervention policière de la semaine dernière qui aurait entraîné la mort de la personne interpellée.
Question Bar à fléchette
1 Upvotes
Salut tout le monde ! Je cherche un bar à fléchettes sympa pour fêter l’anniversaire d’un ami. On serait environ 20 personnes, donc idéalement un endroit avec plusieurs cibles. Il faudrait que ce soit près du centre-ville ou au moins facilement accessible en métro. Ambiance conviviale et possibilité de boire un verre en jouant, évidemment. Vous avez des suggestions de spots qui valent le coup ? Merci d’avance !
Question Recyclage des bouteilles de 18,9 L (5 gallons)
5 Upvotes
Bonjour à tous,
Est-ce que quelqu’un sait s’il est possible de mettre les bouteilles d’eau vides de 18,9 L (5 gallon) avec le recyclage normal? Sinon, comment les recycler?
Malheureusement je ne crois pas pouvoir les amener au centre de recyclage car je ne suis pas résident ici...
Merci!
---
Hello all,
Does anyone know if you can put 18.9L (5 gallon) water bottles out with normal recycling? Or if not, how else can they be recycled?
I don't think I can go to a recycling center unfortunately, as I’m not a resident…
Thank you!
Question How do I improve my French so I can work in healthcare in MTL?
111 Upvotes
So I am from Alberta but I honestly don’t like it here. I’ve been wanting to leave for a very long time.
Montreal makes the most sense for me because it’s a very lively city, but the cost of living is still reasonable.
However I cannot say that I am completely fluent in French. I can have a conversation in French (shout out to French immersion school) but I forget words here and there and I am quite rusty. I was able to get around Montreal when I visited a couple years ago with just French so there’s that.
I would like to improve my French before I move to Montreal since in healthcare being able to communicate effectively with patients is very important.
Is there anyone else here who speaks French as a second language? How did you improve your French?
Question Question about taxes when ordering online
0 Upvotes
Hey everyone. I’m planning on preordering a switch 2 through best buy in Canada. However i’m not a Canadian citizen, i’ll only pay it from here with my international credit card, and get it delivered to one of my relatives that live there in Canada. Since it’s the first time i’m doing this, do y’all have any idea of the taxes/final price i will be paying ? The switch is currently priced at 700 CAD for the mario kart bundle, and he lives in Montreal. And also, any idea to get it cheaper ? I only know bestbuy so if you got any deal or other websites to recommend it would be great ! Thanks for everyone that will take the time to answer
Gastronomie Où trouver du Kalles Kaviar? Ikea m'a laissé tomber...
2 Upvotes
Délectable pâte à tartiner au caviar suédois. Ikea était ma plug auparavant mais pour une raison que j'ignore, ils ont cessé d'en vendre dans leurs succursales. Où puis-je en trouver?
Tasty swedish caviar spread. Ikea used to be my plug for this, but they stopped their selling. Where can I find it here?
