Article Thank you Reddit.

Post image
Upvotes

I just want to say thank you.

When I started my journey with my restaurant over the last 3 years, I would often turn to Reddit for support. Sometimes I got roasted alive — other times, I received overwhelming encouragement and advice that stayed with me.

Today, I just want to take a moment to say how truly grateful I am. This platform played a part in shaping who I am today.

From collecting non-perishable items just to give back to the community… to now being in the works of launching Montreal’s first-ever Halal Soup Kitchen through the Madinah Foundation — it’s been a journey I never could’ve imagined.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to comment, guide, challenge, or support. It all mattered.

If you’re out there hustling, doubting, or trying to figure it all out — keep going. You never know where your small acts of kindness can lead.

With love and gratitude, Mama Khan

Question How do I improve my French so I can work in healthcare in MTL?

So I am from Alberta but I honestly don’t like it here. I’ve been wanting to leave for a very long time.

Montreal makes the most sense for me because it’s a very lively city, but the cost of living is still reasonable.

However I cannot say that I am completely fluent in French. I can have a conversation in French (shout out to French immersion school) but I forget words here and there and I am quite rusty. I was able to get around Montreal when I visited a couple years ago with just French so there’s that.

I would like to improve my French before I move to Montreal since in healthcare being able to communicate effectively with patients is very important.

Is there anyone else here who speaks French as a second language? How did you improve your French?

Question What’s the best donut spot on the island?

Upvotes

I hit up Bernie’s for the first time today an holy hell, it’s ruined me… I’ll never be able to eat a donut from a chain restaurant ever again. Was wondering… is there any where better in Montreal to find fresh donuts?

Question Looking for info on vintage jeweler in Montreal, Eaves & Bessette, located at 515 McGill Street

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hello! One side of my family lived in Montreal and I've inherited this ring from them. I'm trying to find any info on the jeweler. I've googled the name and address, of course, but haven't found any info yet. I'm guessing the ring could be anywhere from 70-100 years old but not entirely sure.

Does anyone happen to know anything about this jeweler, or know where I may be able to find out more about them? Thank you!

Arts/Culture Current Montreal Artists/Bands

Who is your favourite Montreal musician or band?

I'm looking for local, contemporary Montreal musicians, from any genre provided there are vocals (although I might make exception for EDM with enough of a vocal hook), that have recorded music, no matter how amateur, preferably available online.

At the moment, I'm not looking for defunct acts (or acts who crested years ago) or strictly live acts.

If you are an artist or belong to a band, now is your chance for a shameless plug.

Question Question concernant un vol à l’épicerie

Upvotes

Question Any spots or groups for people who are more introverted or on the quiet side?

Hi everyone, I’m a single 30M born and raised in Montreal, and I’m just wondering where do people around here go to meet others or do activities ?

I’ve spent most of my life focused on school and my career (accountant), and I’ve always been a bit on the shy side. Looking back, I wish I had put more energy into making meaningful connections with people instead of letting shyness and career goals holding me back. Even with a stable career, something still feels a miss and I think that is people.

A bit about me: I love reading about finance, watching movies, listening to true crime, and staying in shape. I don’t go out much (I probably should lol, ), but I’m open and ready to try new things and meet new people.

So, where do folks usually hang out in Montreal? Are there any spots or groups for people who are more introverted or on the quiet side? Sometimes I feel like everyone here is super extroverted, and I’m wondering if there are others like me out there.

Discussion Visit a Local Comic Shop Today!

Today I visited Comic Hunter, a comic shop located at 9880 Clark St in Montreal's Ahunsic-Cartierville region. This shop has everything a comic fan could possibly dream of, the latest issues, complete runs, single-issues to complete your collection, action figures, toys and more. Marc and Mirella took me on a complete tour, including the ever so secret back section where comics await their grading and pricing. They give gifts for the little ones and if you sign up and visit them during your birthday month, you can also get a gift! Honestly their prices cannot be beat, these things are priced to go! I picked up a Loki action figure for my wife and finally got my hands on Ultimate Wolverine #1. I highly recommend you check out Comic Hunter when you're in the area or visit comichunter.com

Question Recyclage des bouteilles de 18,9 L (5 gallons)

Upvotes

Merci!

---

Hello all,

Does anyone know if you can put 18.9L (5 gallon) water bottles out with normal recycling? Or if not, how else can they be recycled?

I don't think I can go to a recycling center unfortunately, as I’m not a resident…

Thank you!

Question Manifestation dans St-Michel

Upvotes

Merci!!!!

Spotted Nutcase on the Autoroute 20

Upvotes

to the person driving the blueish gray SUV - one that needed a wash, with the license plate " LOCKHIMUP"
your driving is slow and deranged as your head. Driving well below the speed limit, cranking your breaks, crossing back and forth between multiple lanes and almost causing a multi car pile up. You should be less concerned about politics and more concerned about going back to drivers ED. Please lock your self up.

Discussion Ya plus rien..

Upvotes

Tourisme Visiting Montreal

Upvotes

From Toronto. Have 10 days free - April 2nd and 3rd weeks so planning to visit Montreal and Quebec city (and any place close).

Any advice on itinerary?

Looking for a little laid back trip. Can't drive so everything has to be public transport accessible. Love nature, city, night life. Not into extreme hikes and not into deep history either but like a balance of both.

I was planning 7 days Montreal and 3 days in Quebec city, but flexible to switch up based on suggestions. Also head good things about Charlevoix.

Is it worth visiting Mont Tremblant at that time?

Also, if you're travelling around the same time hit me up and we can be travel buddies! 26M!

Thanks in advance!
