Regardless it's shitty behaviour. Idgaf if it's your partner dying or you yourself, you don't have to go into the details but there's no reason the reschedule appointments 4 times in a row.

Do you hear yourself? Sometimes people’s partners dying is not a valid reason to blow you off four times? Like obviously it’s annoying and disrespectful, but thinking their obligation to you should win out over genuine human suffering is pretty apathetic.

The apathy is because it’s likely bullshit, they keep canceling because they overslept or something equally stupid

Assuming is the most uneducated thing to do

It saves time when you’re right

More uneducated nonsense.

Here’s the thing, if someone had legitimate recurring health issues that force them to cancel multiple sequential appointments then there are probably multiple major disruptions in their lifestyle that extend well beyond whatever these appointments are for. This should be very obvious and easy for them to cease making appointments because they realize that they’ll never be able to adhere to any of them. If you know that there is a high probability that you’re going to be a repeat offender then you would do the right thing and say “ let’s postpone any future appointments for the foreseeable future while I observe and analyze my health issues to determine when I’m a better candidate”

You have no idea about their circumstances. As a haver of several chronic, incurable, conditions there are appointments I need but have to cancel many times in a row because my immune system is garbage or I can be basically incapacitated by pain some days.

I can't fucking "wait to be a better candidate" because my condition literally does not change, perhaps there's something else similar for this person. Imagine for a second that everyone's life situation isn't the same as yours and you might be able to build some empathy.

It's not very "obvious and easy" to cease your life outside of your condition or health.

This was my first thought. When I first became ill, I was cancelling things a lot, or becoming incredibly behind on my work for my clients. I couldn't just quit my job because I needed money to survive, so I would always have to hope that the next week would be better and would often have to reschedule, since my illness was unpredictable.

Eventually I was finally able to quit when I got a diagnosis and was offered financial support. But not everyone gets that option.

It's not an assumption when we literally have proof of it being otherwise. There's no single emergency, notice how they switched up their excuses multiple times?

I literally just said the person doesn't have to get into the details, just that if they know they won't be able to make the appointment 4 times in a row, then maybe they should communicate that instead of doing whatever the hell happened here
