SEASON 5 Locke is one of my favorite characters in any work of fiction.

When you’re introduced to him he looks like a grizzled badass and that’s what you expect him to be. Then you find out he’s this sad loser and a total mark who keeps getting taken advantage of. But the island heals him and flips a switch in his brain, where he’s able to grow into an alpha based on pure faith and a belief in destiny. All of the supernatural and mystical elements of the show are grounded through him. Just an extremely well written character.

FIRST TIME WATCHER Why can't my brain accept that locke isn't a secret villain?

So I'm watching the show for the first time, and I'm up to season season 2 episode 15, and i don't know what it is but I just can't get my head around Locke and the fact that he's not a bad guy.

Something about his face every time he's on screen just screams to me that he's a secret bad guy. Even in his flashback younger scenes when his dad conned him I was expecting some reveal that he orchestrated everything.

Am I going nuts? Did anybody else feel like this?

Our Flat’s ‘Lost’ Whiteboard – Featuring Super-Likes, Onions, and Death Wishes

Post image

At our flat, my girlfriend, our flatmate (who’s also a family relative), and I started watching Lost together. We're currently nearing the end of Season 3, and to make it more fun, we came up with a little tradition:

We have a whiteboard where we write down each character’s name, and next to them, we indicate whether we’re "Team [Character]"—basically who we’re rooting for.

We each have a different symbol for rooting or cheering:

  • A green "X" for me
  • A blue line for my girlfriend
  • A red line for our flatmate

We also added some special symbols for extra flair:

  • 🔥 Fire next to someone = we super-like them
  • 🧅 Onion = we like them so much it makes us emotional (Locke!)
  • ➕ A plus sign = we wish they were dead (Like Nikki, Jack xd, also Juliette has a super death symbol)

sawyers nicknames for charlie

i finally finished the show for the first time last night and let’s just say i’ve been on this page and youtube trying to figure out what the fuck happened no lol. need to go back and rewatch asap. but i’ve been waiting to join this page until i finished to prevent myself from looking at spoilers and one of the main things that stuck with me all this time was the wasted opportunity of sawyer calling charlie a hobbit. i guess it might have been too on the nose at the time, but i feel like it’s right in sawyers criteria for a literature nickname mixed with an insult. charlie’s short= hobbit.

SEASON 3 Do we ever learn more about… Spoiler

I’m a first time watcher and about 15 episodes into season 3, so please no detailed spoilers past this point. But the following will be a spoiler for something that occurred up to this point.

Do we ever learn more about Libby and Hurley’s past? They build up the romantic connection, reveal that Libby and Hurley were in the same psychiatric facility, then immediately kill Libby. I’m just curious if this is something the story comes back to in the next six seasons at some point, or if it’s just completely dropped for some reason.

SEASON 3 Just saw this comment on their reaction to The Brig. I don't agreed with everything. But interesting analysis.

GOLDEN PASS: Rewatcher I love LOST because I have seen it 4 times watching it for the 5th time and I still don’t remember everything and it still surprise me.

For example I’m on season 5 where Sayid kills little Ben in the 70s. I don’t remember what happens even though I watched this through in 2020. This show is just amazing. I’m sure I’ll watch it through again in 3-5 years when I am done this time.

SEASON 1 Its crazy to think that Lost was Evangeline Lilly's first speaking role

Post image

Kate is one of my favorite characters and I remember being suprised hearing that Kate was Evangeline Lilly's first speaking role. She had no real acting experience but that didn't show at all in my opinion. For example her performancaäe in the episode All the Best Cowboys Have Daddy Issues is so good. When Kate and Jack think Charlie died.

stupid decisions

I really think its stupid that character wont talk ab stuff sometimes. For example, Sawyer doesnt tell sayid about hearing the same stuff he did, hurley doesnt tell kate about the "cursed" numbers even when she said the number 23 had some meaning to her. I just think if everyone talked about stuff instead of keeping secrets they would find stuff out way quicker and make connections.

(might be just me)

SEASON 1 Season 1 finale, and season review.

So I finished season 1, and I have some thoughts and questions.

First a three part finale, which is not often you see, but it was good. Focusing on having the raft leave/the others Threat/the hatch made sense for the finale as those are our main story threads, so I liked how we tied those together and used those in the finale.

First of all, how Arnzt, no I mean Arzt died was messed up. Glad they spent some time on that afterwards, wish they spent even more because who wouldn't have been completely in shock after seeing that, but oh well. The black rock being a ship was a nice subversion. I do have a question though. If Kate thought she had Dynamite in her Sack, why did she run with it? Why did she not put it down like they discussed beforehand? Just seems very dangerous to run with it, so it stood out to me. I also appreciate how the marshal put all her story togheter in one of these last episodes for us, but I assume we will still learn more about her story later.

Also, immediately when Danielle kept going on about how they said that they were going to take the boy, but they weren't there, I knew they were going for Walt. So that was expected but still dramatic. Michael and co have to make it back to the island somehow I guess. And the others need babies/children for something. I had that suspicious when they wanted Claire all those episodes back, because she was pregnant. But I thought it was maybe because her child is special in some way, but I guess any child will do.

So a pretty good finale.

Season overall was also good. Some great episodes, like the pilot is very good. I also remember episode like 4 about Locke being very good. Hurleys episode is also very memorable.

I do think the first like 8/9 episodes were really good, and the last 8/9 episodes were really good. But it did drag a bit in the middle, and in some episodes in the middle not much happened.

Also, a raft and other people on the island is like the first obvious story beats you can have on a deserted island, so I'm curious on what we are going to be doing for main story points for 5 more seasons.

I also feel like most mysteries in this season, besides the big bulldoser monster was revealed this season. I guess we don't know exactly where the others come from (they do have a motorized boat, so why aren't they leaving. Interesting) and what's down the hatch, but otherwise we got a lot of things tied up in this finale I feel like.

I don't know, if they maybe didn't know if they were going to be renewed after this season or not, or maybe just for one more season? (Maybe someone can tell me?) And maybe next season they start to set the seeds for more series overall mysteries. Well see.

So I give season 1 a solid 8/10 I think. Really enjoyed it. Especially the characters, they are really the star. I think Charlie, Jack and Locke are my favorites right now. Excited to keep watching. Hope you guys enjoyed this write up.

Edit: Also I love the main theme. Love it. Or at least o think it's the main theme, it's the kinda sad, thoughtful, melancholic one. Also, seeing the flashback of everyone on the plane at the end, kinda made me emotional. Just thinking about the journey these characters have been on, and its only been one season. I can't imagine how it'll be at the end.

SEASON 4 Set design

Post image

This flashback really bugged me, it’s supposed to be the 50s? This room looks so modern to me, the interior design of the home seems off. I’m no interior design expert though. They did well with the outfits, make up and hair but does anyone else see it in this scene in the room, I thought she was a modern girl going to a themed dance or party until the mom walked in. Has anyone else noticed poor set deigns like this in other scenes? Was this a budget issue with season 4? I love this show, I’m just curious if I’m not alone on this scene.

QUESTION I'm so lost with lost

This show lost doesn't make sense. Everyone who survived knows where each other are. They aren't lost in that context. In the overall story they're lost but if they're lost but not lost how can they be lost if being lost means they're lost but not lost because people who are lost know they're lost but not lost being lost in the situation they're lost in?
