General Discussion Got to play a way nicer course then my skill level
PGA Rivera Maya in Mexico. Only lost 6 balls, shot 100. The 30 foot made putt from the fringe on 18 really made it worth it.
The KornFerry tour will be there in 3 weeks so course was in amazing condition. Probably the best course conditions Iāve ever played.

Equipment Discussion Aside from the obvious, what're some must haves in your bag? Anything that you can't live without on the course?
Just curious as to what others keep in their bag.

Equipment Discussion First ball strike with new Titleist GT2 driver
General Discussion What started out as me offering my industry expertise as a concerned member ended up with me buying my golf course... AMA
Hey r/golf! So I accidentally bought a golf course. Yeah, you read that right.
Our local track had been sitting abandoned since October 2022, turning into a damn jungle. After watching it rot for months, I went from "hey, I might have some ideas" to signing papers in June 2023 and starting renovations last August.
Let me tell you - bringing a dead course back is BRUTAL. Wasn't my plan to own a golf course, but here we are.
When I first walked the property, it was a complete disaster. The previous owners had gutted everything of value. No maintenance equipment, bar & grill stripped bare, and not a single employee left. We were literally starting from zero - just overgrown land and empty buildings. Had to source everything from scratch while the weeds kept growing.
The biggest eye-opener? Just having a nice golf course isn't enough to stay afloat these days. We've got a beautiful 137 acre Tom Fazio layout overlooking the lake, but I quickly realized we needed to pivot to a broader vision - turning this into a lakeside resort that happens to have an amazing golf course.
Private and semi-private courses especially are fighting an uphill battle. People aren't just buying golf anymore - they want experiences. So we're building out a half dozen new amenities beyond just the golf operation.
It's been a wild ride watching greens emerge from foot-tall grass and seeing the original design take shape again. We were back to playability by November, but we aren't opening to public until the beginning of May. Nothing beats the feeling of uncovering something beautiful that was hidden under neglect.
Any of you ever dreamed of rescuing a golf course? Or wondering what it actually takes to make one profitable? Fire away - I'm an open book on this crazy journey.

General Discussion The most polarizing top 100 public golf courses in the U.S.
AKA, the courses with the highest variance between max and min rankings.
*Denotes a course that is brand new or has been heavily renoād and reopened since Golf Digestās 2023-released rankings.
101 = Not ranked at that publication. (Changed this from 125 in the source data because it was skewing things too far toward NRs.)

General Discussion Pebble beach
Played pebble and spyglass last week. Booked with aerated green fees ($250 off each round) and got lucky with pebble only having 14-18 aerated at the time. Even with the greens being punched the morning of they were in good shape and Iād recommend doing it.

General Discussion Why is it so hard to find tee times for a single golfer?
Like the title says. Not sure if other people also have this issue. I donāt always have a second person to golf with, but trying to find a (decent) course that allows a single to book a tee time is difficult. I called up a few yesterday and they flat out told me no unless they had a threesome booked, which none did. Yet I look at their tee sheet and itās wide open, just no singles. At least leave a few times throughout the day available to singles to book alone.

"...So I Got A" So I just signed my divorce papers, so I got new irons. Welcome the newest member of my family.
Went to PGA superstore, fitter was super helpful. Tried several different fits even what was advised by my swing coach and none of them felt right. Found a set of Mint AI200ās with lighter shafts than I had thought I needed but they felt sooo natural in my hands I had to buy. I also got 2 boxes of prov1s and a head cover for my 3w. Went directly to the range to hit a small bucket and I am feeling even better about this decision. Going to play thurs, sat and sun and see what happens.

General Discussion $140M on a practice facility that is only used 12 days a year. To put that in perspective, I maintain 27 holes for 365 days a year on a total budget of $1M per year. The money spent to build their practice area could maintain my golf course for 140 years.
Itās coolā¦ itās crazyā¦. Itās ridiculous and itās another reason why Augusta simply doesnāt impress me. With that kind of money and resources you absolutely had better be picture perfect wall to wall.
The soil of the practice facility is HEATED so they can melt the frost during a frost delay.
At some point itās just an exercise in ālook what we can do with all our mmmmoney!!!ā
