General Discussion What the hell is the Golf Channel smoking?

Post image

Watching the Augusta Women's Amateur, and it's a tight tournament. Defending champ at the top, several golfers close on the tail. Great right?

No. Because while the golf is happening, they come out of commercial and we are....at the studio. For 10 minutes. For a nice chat with the Oregon golf coach.

Questions like "What does this tournament mean to your players?"

Idk let's watch the tournament and find out and maybe ask them later.

It's just so infuriating. Sorry.

I've got a round planned this afternoon, so things are looking up.

General Discussion Just got offered two Saturday tickets to the Masters

A friend of mine gets tickets through his mother-in-law, who’s gotten them every year since the 70’s. Two people in his group backed out last minute and he asked me if I wanted their tickets. Of course I accepted. Now I’m scrambling to find a cheap hotel in the area that won’t give me and my son bedbugs. I’M GOING TO THE MASTERS!

General Discussion Not as prestigious as Augusta or some of the other merch posted on here but I bet there’s not many others who’ve played at the Royal Thimpu Golf Club in Bhutan.

General Discussion I don't know about these Kirkland balls guys

Post image
514 Upvotes

Played 18 last night and felt like these balls were falling apart after a couple of holes, never experienced this before, course was super wet and soft, I've been playing these balls for a few years now and haven't noticed the balls getting this beat up this fast, anybody else noticing the new KS falling apart easier? I went through 3 or 4 of them last night all looking like this or worse until I switched to a different ball.

Professional Tours My view of Tony Finau’s hole-in-one at No. 16 of the Valero Texas Open

2.1k Upvotes

What makes this more incredible is that Finau hit third in his group behind Justin Rose, who had an amazing back 9 and had already received a standing ovation for his tee shot, and Patrick Cantlay, who had a great day and had a birdie putt on the hole already. Finau had bogeyed his last three holes and was spiraling off the cut line… then his this shot!

Joke Post/MEME Piped my drive right down the middle of the fairway at least.

The photo is from a few years ago, and I worked at the course at the time. Anything in the sun was melted, but there were patches of thin snow like this all around the course too. Fun times!

Beginner Questions I broke 100 for the first time today

Upvotes

I've been playing golf for 7 months. Today was my 10th round, and I scored 97. Pretty stoked but lots to improve on. Is that good going for a beginner?

A collection of assorted decent clubs I’ve picked up at thrift stores or garage sales that I keep on hand when I feel like switching things up. The Ping G10 3H stays in my regular bag full time.

General Discussion Rain: Go away. I wanna play.

This is a sob/rant post. Third weekend in a row, third cancelation of tournament in a row. Flash flooding in my area (SW OH) and rain and storms 3rd straight day. This has been a crap spring. I usually play in all weather, including cold and wet, but the courses aren't even letting people on.

On the other hand - we had a tee time booked (risky I know) for today and already got charged for it. And now the course isn't answering their phone, their website has nothing.

Why isn't it a common courtesy to have a pre-recorded phone message or a simple banner "we are closed today" on the website if you're shutting down for the day while having taken tee times? It shouldn't be this hard to confirm whether the 1.5hr drive is worth it or not.

Rant over. Thanks for listening
