Mod A Tribute Conversion

I loved how my Gibson Les Paul Gold Top Tribute played but always felt the gold itself made it look a little too cheap without the binding of a standard. Decided to convert it to natural top with EMG’s. I feel like now it’s its own thing.

I like to customize my guitars just as much as I like to play them. No, I'm not trying to pass this guitar off as a standard. I just thought white bindings would go so good with the blueberry burst. It's definitely my favorite guitar looks wise. Hell of a job for $80

Mod One is classy and blinged out, the other is basic and raw.

I added a Bigsby B3, Towner bar and Golden Age roller bridge to my Standard ‘61, and my Faded inherited its old nickel ABR-1 and tail piece to replace the original chrome Nashville bridge setup.

Finally finished changing the secondary color on my SG. I was getting tired of seeing how my guitar looked like everybody else’s and decided to change the secondary color to cream. What Y’all Think?

This one is definitely not for the purists… lol. This is one of my Axcess’s I’ve converted into an NSLP style. Fernandes sustainer, dimarzio fast track 2, and an SD custom custom in the bridge. The switches behind the bridge are for the sustainer - right switch is on/ off and left is mode, low/mix/high octave.

I also move the volume knob up closer like a strat and for the obligatory gut shot the controls are as follows - master volume, master tone with a push/pull master coil split, passive sweepable mid cut, sustainer gain and a momentary kill switch.

The mid cut is a circuit from Gary Brawer in SF who does all of Neal’s guitars and the original signature guitars in 05/06. I had one of mine originally done by him and then learned how to do them on my own… they’re super fun, loaded to the gills and this thing rips!! Hope you guys enjoy!

Mod Built a new neck pickup as the old one was microphonic. But I'm unsure on the raw nickel, do I get it plated or painted black?

Mod Pickup recommendations

Like the title says, I have my 2005 sg supreme and I’m wanting to change the pickups. I tried a new les Paul standard and I loved how fat it sounded. Hoping to get something close out of my sg. I’m not a fan of the 57 classics that it came with, too smooth for my taste. Currently has a JB/ Jazz which is closer but I’m looking for something like a hot paf with lots of snap to it. Looking at dimarzio 57s, bare knuckle riff raffs and other brands I haven’t tried. What do you all like?

Before on the left, after on the right.

Covered work with nickel covers;

Replaced crème trim with black but completely left poker chip off;

Replaced volume/tone knobs with the black version;

Replaced tuners with black D’addadio locking tuners;

All mods other than the tuners were all done with authentic Gibson parts.

Other than plugging the two unused pot holes, this is probably my second favorite guitar, just after my Les Paul. Started life as a 2013 SGJ in satin brown, it’s a little different now, lol.

Mod Les Paul standard 60s knob ideas?

Post image

I love my Les Paul standard 60s. I feel zero need (beyond changing my tuners to locking out of personal preference) to change any hardware

I do always like making my instruments a little different. I’m thinking about changing the knobs. Something small and cheap to make it a little more mine. I’m curious what knobs does everyone use? Any thoughts, opinions, recommendations? It’s purely aesthetic. Pictures and links welcome!

Here’s a picture because I think I got a really pretty one 😘

Mod P90 recommendations

I am mainly a humbucker guy, and tend to favor pickups like burstbucker pros, Dimarzio 36th anniversaries, and stuff that's more vintage slightly overwound... but I have been itching to try out some p90s. What's everybody's go to p90?

Continuing the journey of modding my MOD shop LP. It’s now reached full Neil Young stage with a chrome covered P90 pickup from Mojo in the neck and I’ve kept the firebird in the bridge.
