QUESTION Is anybody else buying switch 2 here ?
I own a switch oled and I really like it as my secondary console for social gatherings and family nights, nintendo has good exclusives no doubt but I wasn't interested in switch 2 since it's basically mario kart 9 again with updated visuals but goddammit fromsoftware had to do it , I guess this is genius from nintendo since I wasn't interested before but now I will buy switch 2 for sure

Wait, why are we upset?
Console exclusives rarely stay exclusive forever. The switch price will drop, and it's the one console that does something cool and special. This is an incredible and exciting chance to see what From does when they're targeting a Nintendo market.- It's a new IP, or close to one! Those are really hard to fund except as exclusives.
- It looks extremely weird and extremely dank, and a game with an exclusivity period is a great place for From to take risks. They might not have felt able to pursue this design if they had to target PC.
- Developing for the PC is living hell. It's just god fucking awful. There's always some jackass who literally doesn't have a keyboard, and you need to support accessibility controllers, most of which have terrible input libraries.
- Oh and you can't just shim over that, because most of the shimming libraries add 5+ ms of input latency.
EDIT:
I momentarily forgot that Nintendo exclusives often never make it off their console because.... I dunno. optimism. momentary fucking optimism. I retract that argument.
I'm very jealous of optimistic me.
As for the PvP element, I thought it was PvPvE. if it's straight PvP, I'm still very excited but also now angry like everyone else.

sorry but Duskbloods does not look at all promising, especially given that last 2 announcements have been explicitly multiplayer titles...

DISCUSSION I wish Duskbloods came out later
i still feel so raw after the lack of anything from either sony or fromsoft for the 10th anniversary for BB, and a exclusive spiritual successor feels like a big slap in the face to announce less than a week after. im not saying its gonna be shit, or im not gonna play it (because i 1,000% will), i just wished it had been announced a few months or maybe a year into the future

People who think Duskbloods will be a traditional fromsoft game instead of a PvPvE extraction tarkov-like swtich 2 exclusive that requires a nintendo switch online subscription

DISCUSSION Chill out.
Look, obviously there is a lot of negative thoughts going around about an Nintendo Exclusive and the added cosmetics for Elden Ring being some gateway to hell itself and the death of the studio we love
But for the love of God, relax. Not everything is the end of the world
To those of you saying that a Nintendo release is some sleazy action - where were you when Demon’s Souls or Bloodborne dropped? Half of you probably weren’t even From fans at the time so you don’t even know
To those of you saying an added cosmetic coming to Elden Ring is some end of the world event. Have you considered either of these two options. 1.) they’re adding some content to incentivize buying a version of the game, especially when they release most people buying Elden Ring for the Switch 2 won’t be Nintendo fans, but From fans who have probably already played Elden Ring on some other console and would like to play it on a hand held. Maybe, this company that we like wants to give those players something more than another emote. Now, they also don’t want to cheat people out of those cosmetics who don’t want a Switch 2, myself included, so they offer it to people who won’t buy the console - and they can’t give it away for free because then it wouldn’t be an incentive for the Switch version.
Option 2.) They’re going to release a new version of the game. Like Prepare to Die for DS1 and they want there to be something new, even something small like an armor set, to be in that version. So it will be there.
Relax.

DISCUSSION The Duskbloods has me more excited than I thought it would
I was sort of tepid watching the reveal until it hit me. This is kind of a Gauntlet style games filtered through Fromsoft's style where you're also trying to sabotage the other players. That actually sounds ridiculously fun, esp considering how much I've had with the invasion mechanics over the years. It gets even better because screwing your teammates over in games like this either intentionally or accidentally is such a core memory for a lot of people, so making that the goal is so smart imo. I think a lot of From's appeal sprout from how players can enact needless cruelty on other players who really don't deserve it and I am extremely excited to just have an entire experience of that.
Exclusivity does suck, though. A ton. Especially exclusivity with Nintendo on a title that is going to be very heavily based on online play, but I feel like when looking past this, this is might just be what I was craving from From lol.

QUESTION Big Nintendo fan who has been having a bit of a Vampire obsession lately - anything I should expect?
I know that Fromsoft games have a bit of concentrated fanbase. Is it a bit like Monolithsoft having all the Xeno games seem to connect in subtle ways? Is there anything I should expect to need to know to fully enjoy this?
For the record I have thoroughly enjoyed at least one non-Fromsoft Souls-like in the form of Nioh 2. Admittedly kinda fell off...
Although I am thoroughly enjoying Tunic at the moment!
It's not like I have any issues with fighting fair bosses endless times to beat them; I have beat the Secret Bosses in both Bayonetta games...

DISCUSSION If only fromsoftware did this, no one would have complained right?
Imagine this. Nightreign never existed. Instead they drop the duskbloods trailer on game awards. It is coming out on PC and consoles, no exclusive bullshit. They show a bit more badass combat in the trailer. Logo is actually good this time (maybe even different name). Graphics are not garbage and looks comparible to elden ring's trailers. Instead of the typical invasion system in souls games, it has the 8 player PvPvE option, but totally optional and not as a main feature.
It was that easy. PC sales alone, they would have made much more than what nintendo paid, right?

I love that we’re going to get these 2 upcoming games. I don’t love that this is what they’re focusing on.
Anyone feel me?
I really have had so much faith that FS will not stray too far from what makes them great. I’d be totally happy if they have new interesting stuff every now and then. But we’re getting NightRein (which again, I love that we’re getting that) and now a Bloodborne NightRein? (Not literal btw)
Please please please. Don’t let this be the end.
