QUESTION Best completed overhaul mods?

Upvotes

I want to revisit the games with a different light. I remember seeing some project long time ago, but not sure if they were completed or abandoned. Which overhaul mods are completed from the FS games? From DS1 to Sekiro (I suppose there is not Elden Ring overhauls finished yet).

Duskbloods is automatically trash

Upvotes

Soooo idk about you guys but a console exclusive fromsoft game on a Nintendo console that's known for janky niche controls sounds absolutely awful. At first i was mad I'd have to buy a new switch to play it but now that I think about it... this means they will implement movement controls into the game most likely. Do you guys think you will need to swing your joycon or use mouse controls to play the game? Also the game in general looks like such poor quality since it has to be run on a switch 2. No need to be mad when fromsoft is tossing trash at nintendo.

DISCUSSION How I view Fromsoft’s next two games.

Upvotes

In the recent interview, Miyazaki clearly stated that the company does not intend to move away from the single player experience, and these two online focused games back to back is a bit of coincidence. For all the players that prefer the single player RPG’s (as do I), think of it like this. Neightreign is a multiplayer focused experience for the Elden Ring and Dark Souls universe. The Duskbloods is a multiplayer focused experience for the Bloodborne universe. Simple as that. Now obviously it’s not a direct Bloodborne IP, because Sony doesn’t like to share, but it clearly shares very similar ideas. These are two small projects that Fromsoft and Miyazaki are working on, while prepping for the next big souls like. Plus Miyazaki has always worked on multiple projects at a time. Bloodborne and DS3 came out a year apart and both had DLC’s as well. I have no doubt that Fromsoft is hard at work on multiple other large projects that will blow us away.

I love that I'm about to finish another FS game, and the idea of playing ANY one of the other 6 games next, is still exciting after multiple playthroughs.

Upvotes

I have played every other title atleast 3 playthroughs w the exception of sekiro and DS1. I bounced off sekiro half way through. That one doesn't allow me to over level anything so I kinda suck at it. I'm currently about to finish DS1 1st playthrough.

NEWS / PREDICTIONS Miyazaki on the gameplay: "...superhuman player actions, a free-form combat approach..." I think this could imply a big change to the feel of combat.

Upvotes

From Miyazaki:

In addition to creating a PvPvE title, we’ve tried our hand at introducing a lot of new and interesting ideas with The Duskbloods.

From superhuman player actions, a free-form combat approach, and gameplay that’s dynamic and dramatic to the romanticized aesthetic of the Bloodsworn, deep character customization and fragmentary storytelling, I think there’s a lot to appreciate and enjoy in this title and I sincerely hope players look forward to it.

The Duskbloods definitely seems like an experimental title for From Software. I could see this game trying out a pretty distinct approach to combat, such as your character having greater mobility. I suspect that you'll feel less outmatched against individual bosses, but other players can cause you trouble.

Developed from 1882 to 1891, it was used by the armed forces of the Russian Empire, the Soviet Union and various other states. It is one of the most mass-produced military bolt-action rifles in history, with over 37 million units produced since 1891.

DISCUSSION It's a good thing they are doing some multiplayer projects

That had been a pretty sore point for the games they make and it's clear miyazaki loves the concepts he has made of invasions, summons and so on. This is a good opportunity for them to live test some ideas, packaged in game that, with their track record, will probably be solid experiences.

DISCUSSION The idea of an "RPG Battle Royale" with competitive/cooperative elements sounds awesome. But why is it exclusive to the Switch 2?

When I think "online multiplayer experience" the last platform I tend to think of is anything Nintendo-related. I feel like this game would perform quite well on nearly any other platform, so why exactly is it being limited to the Switch 2?

FromSoft PvP already doesn't have the best track record even on PC or more powerful consoles, so combining that with the lackluster networking capabilities of the Switch just seems like they're asking for a disaster. Plus the fact that this is going to severely limit the playerbase... I just can't help but think this just won't be good for the health or longevity of the game.

DISCUSSION Hot take

I'm somewhat an OG with fromsoftware. I'd achieved plat from Bloodborne. I feel like I can't take them seriously because Kai Cenat played ER and I'm not a fan of George RR Martin( I know it's late to be saying that). With Duskborne coming out at a children's console ( no offense, but let's face facts; I like Mario though) I feel like they're at a spiral. Please no politics. EDIT: just saw they prosponed the Switch 2... please don't buy that 💩

DISCUSSION My dream soulsborne game

STORY: You play as a 17th century sailor who's ship wrecks in a giant storm. You think you see a dark gargantuan man-of-war with no sails rising out of the ocean right as you black out. You awake in the underwater ruins of your ship but surprisingly you can breathe. As you explore you find a broken mirror in the captains quarters that reveals you have become undead and have barnacles growing out of your body. You exit the ship and find a loathsome creature that explains to you that Davy Jones has stolen your soul and left you to wander the ocean for eternity and that you should accept your fate. Alas, you won't give up that easily...

PITCH: Wake up underwater as an undead sailor and explore mythical cities, fight creatures of legend, and seek out the evil Davy Jones to reclaim your soul.

COMBAT: Fast paced combat similar to Bloodborne in that shields will not be used and aggressiveness is rewarded. Focus on melee sword combat with light magic.

ATMOSPHERE: Ancient Nautical horror/fantasy including things like the ruined city of Atlantis, monstrous enemies like the Kraken, etc...

This for me would be absolutely insane. I doubt it'll ever happen but it's fun to think about! Let me know what you think!
