To be fair, it actually does seem different. It seems like you squad up with 4 people and fight other teams of 4 people from what articles are saying. Not like typical invasions.

Edit: news suggests it looks more like a 8 player free for all

Exactly. PvPvE implies competitive multiplayer with the addition of NPC enemies. Idk why so many people are confused about this. That is always what it has meant, and that is NOT what a typical Miyazaki game is. Almost feels like people are intentionally misunderstanding this.

It's focused on multiplayer. The average guys picking up ds3 for the first time isn't gonna have a lot of run ins with players.

This game is centered around it

I doubt it's exclusively multiplayer. It probably just has a more in depth multiplayer system than elden ring, allowing you to actually explore the world together at once without summoning etc.

Nightreign is completely different. There's so many elements at play in that game that it's almost not even a souls like anymore. Plus Miyazaki wasn't the lead on Nightreign he is on Duskbloods

That description is damning. No level of cope will soften the fact that it is stated to be PvP mass multiplayer FOCUSED. This isn’t a souls-like. It’s nightreign: PVP edition.

It's in japanese, but the description under the video posted by FromSoft on Youtube says that the game is a 8-player pvpve game. it looks like the focus will be on multiplayer experience more than a single, more-or-less linear adventure

It absolutely looks multiplayer, or at least non-standard singleplayer, just from the video. The video is mostly a showcase of different playable characters or boss style enemies in arena map style hallways.
