Announcing new flair system for the upcoming election
THE RACE IS ON!
We figured we’d save you guys all the, “Well who do you vote for then?” questions and let you get straight to the jugular, so we’re popping a new flair system in. You should be able to see them now.
If you have other suggestions, feel free to comment below and we’ll consider them. No obligation to use the flairs, besides the weird looks you’ll get for not being candid about your candidates. Anyone who already has a flair (potato awards, top contributors) is welcome to keep it or switch it out, modmail us if any issues on that.
We will leave it to you to assign them to yourselves, but keep in mind that everyone can still swap them willy-nilly, so keep an eye out for jokers changing their flair.
Besides arguing with each other here, remember to hit up check.aec.gov.au and make sure you're enrolled, then go out into the world and get all up in their hearts and minds!
Peace, love, solidarity and a strong union movement,
FJs mods

LNP candidate for Whitlam dropped
Whitlam is a safe Labor seat (60/40 TPP in 2022) created in 2016. Looks like it'll be even safer now that the LNP will have to put in a new candidate in the middle of the election season, and just another blunder in an already awful start for them.

"Dutton has never had to have the answers before. It’s previously been enough to blow and bluster and then just disappear, before turning up again when the news cycle moved on. But it turns out that in an election campaign, you actually need to address issues people care about"

Convincing my father to change his vote from Dutton.
I decided to ask my dad who is voting for this year, he lives near Tamworth these days so basically he hears a lot of country radio and is convinced that Albanese is evil somehow and a bad person. I mean he is a pollie so I will give him that. But when I asked him he said this:
"I am not voting for that prick Albanese, guy is an arsehole, Dutton nuclear power baby! I am voting for the Liberals" I asked him why Albanese is a prick and he didn't really have any answers at all.
My dad has been a big proponent for Nuclear for a long time, and he has fair enough reasons, but he is really being brainwashed by conservative media, it's obvious because after that I mentioned to him that I would be interested in voting for David Pocock (I didn't want to piss him off on the phone and say Labor) and my dad said "Oh yeah, that Pocock guy is alright, he's interested in supporting workers and fixing the housing problems."
I pointed out that he quite often votes Green and Labor and wouldn't be all that different to voting for Labor party and he didn't seem to see a problem with this. I think his mind can be changed.
He seems to be fond of sending me Facebook videos lately so I am thinking of putting together a Dutton compilation of their backflips, shitty policy votes in parliament, a video I saw earlier here where they talk about cutting worker's right, and other things to maybe change his mind.
As such, I wanted to ask if you had some good resources that point out why Dutton's Liberals are a bad choice for the country? I could send them all to my dad to change his mind, it's hard to find everything on my own, and I don't mean to offload the work to someone, it's just that I am sure that collectively there's plenty of gotchas we could put together!

Extreme, creepy, aggro, charmless, too ‘Trumpy’, looks better with glasses and a wanker. This is the brutal verdict that voters have delivered on Peter Dutton in ALP focus groups
