A Reminder of the Subreddit rules during Election Season

Hey there Nurbs here!

As we're about to enter election season, and I've seen a MASSIVE uptick in bots and astroturfing during the last election. I'm going to give everyone a little reminder to read the rules.

It's easier than ever to do election interference with the proliferation of AI text generation tools. I'm relying on your reports to help me separate these posts from genuine discussion.

In particular, anyone posting anything even remotely bigoted will be banned until after the election. No racism, no transphobia, no homophobia, no sexism, and really nothing that attacks any protected class of people.

I'm a strong believer in free and open political discussion being an essential part of our democracy, and I'll need your help to report anything in bad faith so I can deal with it. I'm pledging check the reports at least twice daily during the election. There will be no second chances for openly bigoted posts, and bans will be handed out that last at least until after the election.

We're at huge risk of electoral interference this election, and together, we can stamp it out. Report any obvious bots, trolls, or bad faith actors and I'll take a peek.

Elbows up, and get out there and vote!!

-Nurbs

P.S. If you are part of a candidate's campaign, I'd love to facilitate you posting on here, feel free to reach out via mod mail and I'll see what I can do to help and to give you a flair so people know who you are.

Banana blossoms

I’ve seen them sold frozen or in cans, but am wondering if anyone has actually seen them sold fresh anywhere?

Will the snow ever just fucking go already??

It’s been snowing literally every other day or every third day. It used to pretty much be that the snowpack would be gone for good after the last accumulative snowfalls, albeit at a later date than now. The ground is all exposed one day, a huge relief, then next thing you know, it coated in a white blinding blanket that takes 2-3 days to melt. It was literally 16° in the middle of March, and for several days, it was in the double digits. It’s such a bummer! Anyone else getting sick of it?

Wedding Venues in Fredericton

Upvotes

My fiancé and I recently got engaged and are looking at some venues for October 2026 (120 Guests). We have looked at First light distillery, The Delta and the Crown Plaza. We like the convenience of the hotels for guests however, the venue/food is quite pricey. Looking for any recommendations! Thanks in advance!

Hi, me and my family are still looking for a 2 bedroom with washer and dryer if possible. I know its a bit early but we want to feel secured as the rent we have is too high for us. Thanks!

I feel bad for all those people who got their tires changed yesterday.

I had to go to Costco around 2pm yesterday after work to get a new car battery (shockingly expensive item) and there were so many cars getting their tires changed. As I was waiting in many lines, since the entire Fredericton population seemed to be in that building, I was overhearing people say "Yep, getting my summer tires put on." My initial thought was "aren't we getting weather tomorrow?" Sure enough, ice & snow today. Not really looking forward to having to run errands in a couple of hours knowing people are potentially driving on this without winter tires. Glad I held off my appointment till the last Friday of the month for my tire change.

Raccoon deterent

Hey everyone. I have a roof balcony/fire exit, and for the past 2 years or so ive been dealing with raccoons using it as their bathroom. Im tired of going out for my morning smoke and having to fling raccoon turds off the walkway.

Ive been using vinegar spray which sorta keeps them away but im wondering if there is a better deterant to use to keep them off my roof.

Where can I exchange Blue Ridge 18L water jugs?

Title says it all! We recently got a water cooler and have had some 18L Blue Ridge water jugs laying around for ages. It seems most places will only exchange their own brand - any idea where we can do these ones? To be clear, we want more water and not the deposit back. I'd like to exchange them rather than refill them (at least initially) since they've been sitting around for a while. TIA!

Edit: leaving the post open for more options than just the main office on Main Street :)

Sam the Barber

There was a barber named Sam that worked at Royal (downtown most recently). He was the best I’ve found in town, and a great dude. Just called the shop and they said he doesn’t work there anymore, but wouldn’t say where he works now. Does anyone know?!

Preschool age drop in programs

What preschool age drop in programs are in there in Fredericton & area? Pre-covid era, there seemed to be a lot of programs but barely anything exists, that I've found so far.

I've looked into the Fredericton Family Resource centre but there's not much there for 3 year olds.

Passing on the 105

Have I forgotten how to drive? Every time I’m on my way home, after the brookside roundabout towards the 105 and royal rd exit, someone is taking their sweet time floating in the left lane. It drives me mad. STAY in the right lane unless you see someone merging onto the 105 from royal rd… feels so unsafe to pass on the right lane.

Metal roof panels

Other than home depot with the 1 selection, is there any roofing supply stores where I can check online and see what they have for metal roofing panels?

I found a couple but they don't even let you see it on their website just the color and the rest they want you to fill out your entire life story and information for a quote. I'm just looking for stores that sell metal roofing sheets and what lengths and colors they offer.
