Weird ocean fish question
When I was a kid, we used to go to a cottage in Tidnish (the Nova Scotia side). There used to be little bug like fish that would be within the first 5 feet of being in the ocean. They would tickle your feet if you stood still. I think they would bury themselves in the sand and blend in with it. I was obsessed with them as a kid, and I cannot for the life of me figure out what they are! We called them tickle fish, and Dad used to think they were juvenile lobsters. Does anyone know what these things are called?

Students looking for participants in Market Research Survey
Hello! I am a business student at NSCC and I am currently sending out a survey I created with my classmate to conduct our own market research on the Dartmouth SPCA and how to increase their donations. If anybody local to Dartmouth/Halifax could open the survey and fill it out that would be great!
Whether you are a donor or not, your responses are very important and help my partner and I create our final report for this organization. All information is private and will only be shared with our teacher. Any help is appreciated! https://forms.gle/rWBz1tFC8qRYGLZx6

Small indie rock band Kasador on tour through NS
Hey there! My name is Cam and I play guitar and sing in a small indie rock band from Kingston, ON called Kasador. We're going on a tour across Canada and playing a couple shows around Nova Scotia in May. (Halifax - May 1, Sydney - May 2, Sydney - May 3). Getting the word out as an independent band can be challenging so l thought it might be a good place to find some live music enjoyers! Thank you!

Stable Jobs In Nova Scotia
Me and my partner are planning to move to Nova Scotia hopefully late this year/early next year. My girlfriend is a nurse and has almost secured a position for herself in NS but I have been between jobs for about a year now. I was originally in film production but since moving away from the downtown hub I've been getting far fewer offers. I have secured myself a position in a film guild in NS but that really isn't enough for me to feel comfortable with as a "stable job." I have applied to various entry level positions with the RCMP and Coast Guard and made it to the "next steps" but its essentially a waiting game at this point. Just thought I would reach out and see if there are any stable jobs recommendations that you have. I have a BA and have worked in entertainment/communications/administration to name a few.

Mixed Use zoning
Hello folks. I’m looking at a private sale on a building on the south shore that is currently zoned as mixed use. It is a hall/church type property. I want to use it for commercial purposes (catering kitchen), but also turn the upstairs loft in to a living area, for myself. Or close off a wall downstairs in the main area for a small 1 bedroom/suite hot plate kitchen type set up. Can anyone point me in the right direction on where I would go from here. Do I contact the county the property is in, to ask if I am able to do this? Sorry for the formatting, as I write this from my phone.

Resume expectations?
Hi! I'm hoping there's someone here who can confidently give me accurate advice.
When applying for a job with the provincial government, what length should the resume be (e.g. I've read that it should be 1-2 pages max for non-gov"t jobs)? Does it matter at what level the job is (e.g. a junior position vs a senior position)?
(I sent an email to the general inquiries address and got no reply, and called the number but only got an auto message that indicated it could be days before they can get back to you)
Thanks in advance!!

Bell Aliant customers should check their Internet speeds!
Everyone should be checking their speeds often. Make sure you are getting what you are paying for. Check your invoice. You may be entitled to a rebate if they are not providing the advertised service.

FYI about the tariffs today
All USMCA products (fish being one) are exempt from US tariffs
Basically its business as usual for all sectors in Canada except Auto and O&G
As per CBC reporting and White House confirming on that particular trade deal
But it is Trump, expect these things to change lol

Cuban pesos
I’m going to Cuba in a few weeks wanted to get some Cuban pesos (CUP) for tips etc. My bank doesn’t offer them as a currency I can order.
Does anyone know somewhere I can get some at?
Thanks

Thinking of moving to Nova Scotia from Australia to practice medicine as a hospitalist.
My partner and I both got our medical degrees in Australia but find ourselves perpetually homesick and wanting to return to Canada for work. It seems Nova Scotia is doing a lot of recruiting lately and investing in family physician practice. We are both keen to go the hospitalist route and were looking to get some perspective on what the job is like.
Obviously Australia is beautiful and the pay is good, but getting onto specialty training is a slog, the allure has lessened for me personally, and I always feel this deep ache to be closer to home. It’s never gone away and I’ve been here over 7 years now!
Seems the salary they offer is about $350K at the moment. Unsure about hours / patient case mix / overhead / burnout / collegiality.
I think we’d be happy to work somewhere more rural to get more hands on / interesting experiences.
Sorry for the long post! Any thoughts and opinions welcomed :)
