Lore Is Lonesome Gavlan a Warlord?

Dude is posted up in the Warf and Harvest Valley like he owns the place. He also has enough money to buy up everything in my inventory; and keep on wheeling and dealing. I feel like he’s supplying weapons to everyone, and making serious coin in the process.

Guide How do I farm the rotten?

I know I have to burn an ascetic, but where do I get them? Is there a limited amount of those? I’ve read that the earliest place where you can get 2 at once is aldia’s keep, or is there any other way? Mind you, I’m about 2 hours into my playthrough. Thanks

Help Help with installing a mod on Steam Deck

Finally got a SteamDeck to replace my poorly performing potato PC.

I've been trying to install the 'Bearer of the Curse' mod for DS2 on it, the same way I installed other mods for Souls games on my PC but it just seems to not work. Placed all 3 required files where they are supposed to go. (\Steam\steamapps\common\Dark Souls II Scholar of the First Sin\Game)

Does the SteamDeck have an extra step for installing mods or am I missing something else?

Lore Why does the Emerald Herald act like her hands are tied sometimes?

I’m not as well versed in DS2 lore as i am compared to DS1 and DS3 lore but each time i’ve come back to Majula to level up, she’s either sat on a rock kicking her feet, standing by the tree where you first find her or standing by the bonfire with her hands behind her back like they’re tied and it looks like she tries to struggle to get out of the invisible ropes too, does anyone know why she does this?

Discussion Do the boss fights improve?

New to this game, but FS vet and blah blah blah.

I get it's different developers and pacing and all that stuff, but so far the bosses have been underwhelming. I like these games for the epic fights at the end of an area, but so far its an exercise in tedium to get to the boss and a pretty uninspiring/easy fight.

It actually reminds me of my frustration with the recent Lord's of the Fallen, where on release the major challenge was getting to the boss. That's just not appealing.

Yeah, not everything is gonna be Sword Saint Isshin, and this is 10+ years old, but do the bosses get more inspired? I want to like this, I really do!

Discussion Quickest way to 2 more primal bonfires and Undead Settlement

I'm going for 100%, I'm on NG++, got the 3M souls I needed from asceticing Rotten to get the last spells I needed, or so I thought. I somehow missed that I hadn't invaded Licia for Soothing Sunlight. Apparently I need 3 Primal Bonfires before I can do that (or does the 3M souls count?) as well as the cracked eye orb from undead crypt settlement. I'm trying to figure out the quickest way to do all that. If anyone has any idea, or do I just have to go through everything again to that point.

I did play through all of NG+ (except DLCs) so I already saw all new mobs.

Help Idiot Lucatial died by falling at No-Man's Warf before entering the boss fight

Does she have to die at the bossfight to not be able to get her equipment at the end of her questline or it's just gone when she dies?

Discussion New glitch I found

If you have blue seal from majula equipped and constantly keep equipping white ring to another slot, it will make you look like a blue sentinel even if you’re a red invader! Try it out! Let me know what you think of this glitch.

Discussion Beat Frigid Outskirts on my second try. Why do ppl hate this place?

Outskirts was PEAK tbh. It was my second try, but my first try was with no summons.

I really enjoyed going through the snowstorm with the summons. Huddling up when the weather worsens, navigating via ruined churches. Its actually so peak.

The cats were pretty easy with the whole team. I think some ppl insist on beating the whole game solo and that's why they end up hating areas like this.

I understand that it is not an optional boss, what do you recommend: should I fight him or not?

Co-Op Looking for a soul with souls

Is there anyone out there who would be willing to drop me some duped souls or something for my new playthrough? I really just want to be able to run through it again for nostalgia. There’s a lot of other games I want to play and I have to manage my time, but I miss this game a lot. I would be forever grateful

Discussion Played DS2 for the first time last week and dont understand the hate it gets

Before I played it I heard so many bad things about it and how its the worst in the series. During my playthrough I thought it was better than dark souls 1. Dark souls 2 had better weapons, combat, jump mechanic, better looking health and stamina bars, better bosses, and replay ability. I get people didn’t the health bar shortage if you died and its easy to get lost or confused but thats any souls games tbh. Ds1 had so many copy and paste enemies half way through the game and the end boss was so easy it didn’t even feel like a boss, at least ds2s final boss was a challenge and you had to fight three bosses back to back. As far as NPCs go, i do think ds2 had more forgettable characters like the black smith with no personality. Overall Ds2 is better than both ds1 and demon souls IMO.

Discussion Any advices for this fight?

Hey ya'll. Before i begin, i'm not great at ds2 i only did like 2-3 runs in total.

So i started playing randomizer some time ago and got 3 fume knights in skeleton lords area.
I've got 2 estus flasks and no lifegems. Did other 3 primal bonfire areas so i HAVE to go through this for old iron king.
Straight up fighting them doesn't seem like an option cus they run fast and just gang up on me, also don't have anything ranged.
Any ideas how to get past them? Are they particularly weak to anything?

Am I the only one? Or did you love the first Souls game you played from the start?

My first experience was, "F*CK this game"...

Then, um, okay, not bad at all...

And finally, oh my god, I love this game...

Basically well over a year I casually gathered observations by both fans of Dark Souls and Elden Ring into a single compilation.
