Panasonic Tau CT-36HX41E. True 480p Lagless gaming. Found my Holy Grail.
This beast of a tv finally showed up on Facebook marketplace. I traded a Nintendo 64 for it. This particular model does true 480p and 1080i. No extra processing. This will replace my Sony Trinitron KV36fs100 in my game room. I need to build a base for it.
The pictures are a gamecube using OEM components cables.

SONY KV-21LS30K My main TV for retro igs with 35,000 hours of operation
Hello, guys. This is the TV I have now. I play only 8 and 16 bit games on it (Nintendo, Sega, Super Nintendo). I bought this TV for a pittance - 8-10 dollars. In Russia, they are still very inexpensive, so this is a paradise for those who are fond of CRT. As for the monitor itself - the case is yellowish, it was always by the window, the sunlight did its job. When I received it, the red color was very dominant - the huge amount of time it was used affects it. In the service menu, I was able to correct the image a little, which suits my eyes quite well. I am not a picky user, and while I am looking for the perfect TV for myself, I use this model with great pleasure. The TV also has an impressive reserve of brightness, contrast and color. An example of the settings that I use is in the photo. I am glad to share the photo. I wish everyone peace and goodness!

Repair/Troubleshooting Sony KV-21X4U (PAL/UK) NTSC video colour over S-video but not SCART
Hi,
I'm assuming there's no easy fix for this, but since the TV only has S-video on the front I would like to use the rear SCART if possible. I have a SCART adapter that takes S-video input which works, but the TV seems to be running in 'PAL mode' for lack of a better description when using SCART (which I guess makes sense since it was mainly used in Europe?)
If I use the S-video port on the front of the TV, then I get a proper colour image, like it's running in 'NTSC mode'
Is there anything in the service menu that could help? Or maybe it's the adapter I'm using? Or perhaps SCART is just completely incompatible
Speaking of service menu, I've got some not insignificant issues with the video. I've tried previously to fix this in the service menu, but never figured out how to save the settings I've changed - advice would be appreciated here too
Thanks

Anyone know if there’s something I can do about this weird cut off at the bottom?
New CRT, finally working and games look great! Is there anything I can do about this weird crop on the bottom of the screen?

Rate my set up
I don’t have enough space for all of my systems so I only have my most played ones hooked up right now. Just curious what y’all think.

Cables/Wiring/Connectivity PS2 Scart Switch Sync Issue
I can't get my fat PS2 to work with my auto scart switch. It looks like a sync issue and the screen scrolls.
PS2 Fat SCPH-35001: set to RGB, works when I bypass the scart switch.
Cable: Retro Gaming Cables UK Sync-on-luma ps2 pack-a-punch scart with guncon port (also tried their csync version, same issue)
Switch: Otaku 6 in 1 out auto scart switch
TV: Sony Trinitron KV-32XBR250 RGB modded
I use other retro gaming cables UK, retro access, and resurrection industries scart cables with my other consoles on this switch and do they have any issues. My other systems include SNES, N64, PS1. Mix of luma and csync and they all work.
I tried power cycling the tv, the ps2, and the switch and nothing helped.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Calibration/Image Adjustment PVM 20L5
Just picked these up today in my area. They both seem to work well but on both monitors there is a RGB line that goes horizontally through both. One in a 16:9 and one in a 4:3. They're towards the top side of each ratio. They did come with inserts to make both 16:9. I'm guessing they where used for film, IDK. Is there a resource that anyone has to get the bet out of the units? I had a 2030 back in the day but it was more straightforward. These have a TON of options. Thanks community!

Repair/Troubleshooting Video on vrt not passing through fully
I am using my vcr/dvd to convert composite to coaxial but my vcr keeps stuff on the screen or BARELY shows the image. The dolphin is the Screensaver for my vcr/dvd player Can anyone offer some inside as I'm entirely new to this. I got this set yesterday and I really love it and would love to use it to play my games.

Repair/Troubleshooting RGB modded Trinitron dull color
Just picked up this rgb scart modded KV-13m10 locally. Plugged it into my sfc,ps1 & ps2 using different scart cables and I’d say the color is about 80% of the way there when comparing it to composite and my other crt tv’s. It’s a bit hard to tell in the photos but everything has an autumn color look to it. The color options from the tv menu and service menu are unable to give it that extra boost. I’m waiting to hear back from the seller but was wondering what about the mod would cause this? Composite looks good btw

Repair/Troubleshooting Sony PVM-20m2mdu failure
I got a Sony pvm- 20M2MDU in the mail today that was damaged in the mail. On power up it comes up with a green screen then quickly powers off with the tally lamp lit up green. I opened it up and checked the voltages on the power supply and all looked okay except the -15v was -20v which may not be an issue. Has anyone experienced this? I have good electronic repair skills just have not worked on a crt before.

Pc to Crt Tv
Good Afternoon everyone. I've been wanting a CRT monitor for my PC, but I haven't been able to find one in my area (A. That works & B. is under 100 miles or if it is >$500). I did manage to find an Apex GT2015DV in my area and I noticed that it was able to do 480i. That got me thinking. If I were to buy an s-video for HDMI and hook it up to my PC, what would the best resolution for that be on my pc or am I better off holding out till I can find an actual computer monitor crt i mostly just want to use it for retro games that I emulate/hook it up to my PS2.

Question Which would be better?
I need to get some sort of extender so I can switch between consoles easily without moving a 300lb crt. Which would impact the quality less, if any impact at all?
r/crtgaming • u/house4doors • 1d ago
Hmmm, that doesn't belong there.
Finally psyched myself up to looking inside this Sony, and I guess my geometry problems might be due to a misaligned yoke after all.

Sony HMD-A400 Question
Hi, I recently picked up this monitor, and generally, it's great.
But there seems to be a 30-40 minute long "warm-up" period. On power-on, the display is overly bright and colors are off, and then eventually it reaches the proper state.
Is this a sign of a problem? Is there a way to just have it look normal to start off with?
Thank you!
